Maybe the point is being overlooked and you're instead looking at the specific vocabulary. It's something more apparent in the niche military strategy/tactics genre. There might be an engine, playable missions, a goal, etc, but there isn't a real "game". What I'm saying is the same is true for unfinished or poorly made titles, when there is tech and whatnot but no real game to actually play. I don't even mean to defend Overgrowth in particular, but I quite respect passionate and careful game development. [editline]19th March 2014[/editline]
They think its finished enough to sell it.
Not the point of Early-Access. The disclaimer is there for a reason.
It's not fucking finished. They're not calling it a game. Have you seen any one of their dev blogs? Development moves in massive leaps and bounds and they regularly solve massive problems over single weekends. It's an impressive product and it's also PRE ALPHA EARLY ACCESS so you, in fact, have no right to be upset with the product.
It's still something that you can buy, play, and stop playing because you find it awful. There are a lot of things you can be upset about even in alpha games, because the core stuff isn't going to be massively different on release. On the other hand though I don't understand what's so bad about the game? Sure it's unfinished and barebones but I still had fun running around throwing swords in slow-mo, and I really don't see how it can be the worst game roflburger has ever played.
Fuck dude, it even describes what I'm talking about lower down in the description.
Not the point of Early-Access. The disclaimer is there for a reason.
That doesn't make it magically opinion proof. Rust is early access, and look at all the hate it gets here.
you heard it here first, you're not allowed to dislike things if they aren't finished
you heard it here first, you're not allowed to dislike things if they aren't finished
why reply no one is exactly saying/arguing that you can't like things
That doesn't make it magically opinion proof. Rust is early access, and look at all the hate it gets here.
No, it's objectively wrong. There's no opinions here at all. You can't say "they think it's finished enough to sell". That's not telling the whole truth. They think it's finished enough to sell to those who really want to see what's going on during development. [editline]19th March 2014[/editline] I like how you cite Rust's immature child community as an example.
Early access is silly. All it does it justify developers treating the consumer silly. Once a game is made available to the public to buy it should basically be considered released.
why reply no one is exactly saying/arguing that you can't like things
uh
It's an impressive product and it's also PRE ALPHA EARLY ACCESS so you, in fact, have no right to be upset with the product.

uh
saying/citing why something is bad/doomed to fail =/= lazy, unthoughtful critique
Game Grumps is not funny
I have only really found Jontron funny. Never really liked Egoraptor to be honest. Apart from that I never really got into game grumps though, I watched Jontron just after split up or whatever.
uh
You wrote the sentence in conditional tense, in case you've forgotten your own post.
lmao It's been in that stage for like a year now. I honestly do not care if its still in prealpha or not. If they call it a game, and they're selling it, I have every right to be upset with the product.

saying/citing why something is bad/doomed to fail =/= lazy, unthoughtful critique
I wasn't even aware I have to specify reasons why I don't like the game. Pretty much all posts in here is "I don't like x/I think x is bad"
You wrote the sentence in conditional tense, in case you've forgotten your own post.
Overgrowth meets the conditions of the if statement. [editline]39[/editline] plus we were specifically talking about overgrowth because you mentioned overgrowth a lot of times when you refer to it as "it" in case you've forgotten your own post
Not the point at all: It's not fucking finished.
no one is asking you to write an apa-format essay with a page-long list of citations for your sources. all i'm saying is that people would appreciate it if you didn't give vapid and lazy critique, aka just try to be more in depth instead of saying "this sucks why do people say it's good", because otherwise you are communicating nothing to the dev team.
like i said, just straight up saying 'it's bad' doesn't tell the creator a whole lot.
did you even bother to read my previous posts? like i said, just straight up saying 'it's bad' doesn't tell the creator a whole lot.
Well I'm not exactly telling the creator this am I
Well I'm not exactly telling the creator this am I
why do you think game devs don't take the majority of gamers seriously?
why do you think game devs don't take the majority of gamers seriously?
That could be for a variety of reasons? If a game designer doesn't take the rest of the gaming community seriously just because I said their games are shit then they have their own problems.
That could be for a variety of reasons? If a game designer doesn't take the rest of the gaming community seriously just because I said their games are shit then they have their own problems.
where did this even come from. ??
I have only really found Jontron funny. Never really liked Egoraptor to be honest. Apart from that I never really got into game grumps though, I watched Jontron just after split up or whatever.
I never got into it because all they played was boring retro shit I hate nostalgia, even my own, I played some old games I used to like and they were terrible lol
fucking nevermind "look it's a game it says so here"
his entire basis of it being a game is that it says the word "game" on it. no shit it's a "game," the developers are developing a fucking videogame. it's not complete so of course it's going to be lackluster roflburger your entire opinion is just horribly uniformed and you're just constantly digging yourself deeper and deeper
Hotline Miami has the best videogame OST of all time
Hotline Miami has the best videogame OST of all time
this is completely subjective, and to be honest there are plenty of games with equally good soundtracks: thief and homeworld are excellent examples
this is completely subjective, and to be honest there are plenty of games with equally good soundtracks: thief and homeworld are excellent examples
opinions
Hotline Miami has the best videogame OST of all time
Does that really constitute unpopular? Everyone I know who played the game won't stop going on about how good the OST was. And personally I didn't see what was all that special about it.
opinions
You literally just summed up our entire argument about my dislike for overgrowth.
Early access is a terrible idea and I don't know why Steam is so happy with it Just finish your fucking game before asking people to give you their money
You literally just summed up our entire argument about my dislike for overgrowth.
hahaha holy shit please
Early access is a terrible idea and I don't know why Steam is so happy with it Just finish your fucking game before asking people to give you their money
Yeah a large majority of the games are shit or an unplayable mess. If you are paying full price for a game in early access you should be allowed to review and state your opinions on them as if they are a completed game.
i dont like the soundtrack of the Devil May Cry games and Metal Gear Rising
