the stigma against anime made after the 90s on the internet has always confused me because there still is a lot of good stuff out there; people are just too afraid to try things that exist outside of the country they live in
the entire reason people dislike anime is because "japan is weird" and that's dumb
People who are crazy dismissive about anime bug the shit out of me simply because I've never met someone who didn't at least like a cornerstone show like Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, etc.
Pugs aren't cute
they're weird looking
the other day some girl showed me a picture of a pug that was OMG SO CUTE and it took me a few seconds to register that it was a pug because I actually thought she was showing me some deformed birth-defect dog or something
Next to bulldogs, they're also rather known for salivating. A lot. I can't stand getting dog slobber anywhere on my body.

And there's the whole anything that resembles any style that would come from Japan == anime. Even when it's games bothers me a lot.
And the people who correct me when I say cartoon or comic instead of the "right" terms bother me too.
It really boggles my mind how verbal harassment over the internet causes what it does.
Don't get me wrong, I'll still feel bad for someone if they're getting depressed or something over the internet, and I know that everyone's different, but sometimes I just wonder how they would deal with some other things that haven't already happen to them.
Alright, I'll be honest with you, that Max Payne synced up to anime is hilariously bad. Like, good work syncing them up... but it SOOO doesn't fit.
I know, that's the point
And truthfully, the whole reason people dislike anime is because some people like it TOO much, like there's a bunch of really great anime shows/movies out there, but there are way more shit ones. Just like how there's a bunch of great american shows/movies out there, but there are way more shit ones.
And the problem is, too many anime fans just like EVERYTHING anime.
if you judge an entire genre based on the percentage of people that misrepresent it or the volume of stuff that isn't good, then it'd only be fair to also dismiss video games, movies, television, and music
people are too selective in things they don't like, hence why i feel like there is too much close-mindedness when it comes to foreign media
[editline]16th April 2014[/editline]
"Well there's lots of stuff that is also bad" is not a good excuse for immediately dismissing a very large demographic's worth of stuff you could look into yourself
Call of Duty has some of the most potential in a gaming series. If they only put more effort in, they would be more than average or below average games.

I'm excited for whatever Treyarch's next release is, since they're doing bi-yearly now.

People of basically every fanbase often like what they're fans of way too much. It just tends to be a lot more visible with things like anime. And I think if someone writes off anime as completely garbage for those reasons or simply for seeing a trash anime then they're kinda dumb for drawing conclusions on the entire genre so quickly. It's just like anything else, 90% of it is complete garbage. If you want something decent you just have to look carefully is all.
to be honest, it's refreshing to see more underdog games that are 5+ years old getting onto steam, but -
valve should make the effort to update steam with a new section: "re-releases" or something like that
i honestly have a thing for oddball, gaudy russian pc games, but they shouldn't be crammed onto the front page. i want to see a 're-releases' section going
I think the Prequel Trilogy for Star Wars was actually pretty good.
Not only do i agree, i take it a step further and firmly believe the prequels are without a doubt better than the original trilogy. Personally i can't even bring myself to watch the original trilogy anymore because it just seems like such dated trash to me. Yet the prequels i still enjoy watching a great deal.
I love seeing the workings of the Jedi order still intact. That and the political maneuverings of Palpatine as he slowly seizes power is extremely interesting to watch unfold. I'm also a big sucker for well choreographed action scenes so all the lightsaber dueling in the prequels gives me massive boners. The originals just don't compare.
Mafia and Mafia 2 are excellent games, Though I've yet to beat the second one. They manage to lightly satirize the era the game takes place in (radio commercials talking about "doctors smoke X Brand cigarettes!" and the like) while still being serious and mature games.
dev companies from the game dev scene in the czech republic brought forward some really underrated gems. mafia, hidden and dangerous, and vietcong are excellent examples
I think Vaatividya isn't that great anymore. Since he gained a lot fame, his videos became less interesting and less in number. Furthermore his patronage campaign where you can donate him doesn't feel all that justified. He did produce better and more content back in the day where hew as new. I'm not saying that he shouldn't be rewarded for his work but he gets way to much praise right now, even though his stuff is that great.
I don't think you should get sports scholarships to college/university, I feel that it's a total cop-out of the actual system.

I liked his videos on DaS1 lore, but ever since DaS2 was announced and people got early releases he started making all these videos talking about "things you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO KNOW" and "the best way to play Dark Souls 2" and it felt really annoying having this guy act like he was one of the biggest experts on DaS2 even though (in my opinion) a large portion of my attraction to the Souls series comes from not knowing what to expect. That aside I never got why people have such a boner for his voice-overs, I find that he sounds pretty annoying with that semi-soft voice he always uses.
Power metal needs to be more popular in Canada and the US.
a serious, mature crime game.

Saint's Row (before 3 at least) was close
Good one, I almost took took you seriously for a second there
i sure do get kicks out of annoying normalfags, you got me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its called 'unpopular opinions' for a reason
but outside of these kinda forums it wouldn't be one, however
so you're saying it's perfectly socially acceptable to be insufferable and insulting to people because it happens in the real world
??
you realize that this kind of attitude is what makes unneeded problems, right
Having been convinced by a friend to try the new Guild Wars 2 patch after an 8 month hiatus, I can finally say that Guild Wars 2 is the most disappointing game I've played since BRINK.

You could compare it to film I suppose? You're providing entertainment to others.
Good one, I almost took took you seriously for a second there
But see, that's the thing. I recently played Saint's Row 2 again, and it's obviously not dead serious, but it really isn't as crazy-wacky as people seem to remember it. [sp]Carlos' death[/sp] is a really serious and sad moment in SR2.

I think people going into sports shouldn't have to bother with higher education in the first place. A high school education is plenty if all you're going to do is hit/kick/carry a ball across a field for three hours a day until you're fifty. Give the education to people who are really going to use it.

a couple of serious moments do not make it "serious and mature". it's still a super wacky satirical game that only takes itself seriously at times. obviously this doesn't make it bad, but acting like it's more serious than the gta franchise is silly

You do realize that most athletes don't get careers in sports and even those that do tend to retire between the ages of 30 and 35, right?

I don't think we're ready, it's too fabulous.
Attack on Titan is an entry level anime and is not nearly as good as people hype it up to be.
Attack on Titan is an entry level anime and is not nearly as good as people hype it up to be.
Attack has serious pacing issues and how the comic has continued won't help it in its next season.
Another thing about AoT is that before I read/watched it, I was told that the plot twists were SUPER CRAZY and mindblowing, and I'm still wondering where those are. Most of the reveals were pretty obvious :v:

You literally know nothing about sports if you think this way.

There has not been a terribly crazy plot twist at all in Attack. It's all pretty standard stuff for a shonen show/manga just really well put together with a little extra grimdark.
I mean, who doesn't wanna zip around with that 3D gear shit?

Implying sports and higher education don't go hand in hand.
