This isn't really an opinion, more of a belief, but I believe people are attracted to things like anime because they are beyond the social norm and it is simply a way of getting attention, and not because they genuinely like those things. That doesn't mean everybody who watches anime or whatever is like that, but it feels like the majority is there only for the added attention. It also doesn't mean people who join for that attention don't start to actually like some of the stuff they watch (because there is good anime after all). It is just clear to me that people like weird shit because "hey guys I like this weird shit". And weird shit doesn't necessarily mean "weird", just out of the norm. It is the same principle with all the brony shit; most of those people wanted attention and needed a community in which they can fit. It is just human nature to constantly drive for attention and to find companionship with similar people. It probably should be popular, but a shitload of people just deny that flat out and say the only reason they watch it is because they like it. Never mind that anime, like most other things, is mostly comprised of garbage yet they still watch it religiously (and yes I know that is subjective but let us be honest here; 80% of everything can be seen as shit by anybody. I refuse to believe people can even like the majority, let alone all of one medium)
So...who exactly decides the social norms?
So...who exactly decides the social norms?
The people inside society.
I really don't understand the market for gaming keyboards.
I have a gaming keyboard it has all these macro keys to the left of the main keys and I don't know how to work them and have over time managed to bind them to random words and button mashing and stuff. and there's also a small lcd screen at the top which sometimes tells me what game I am currently playing (which is really pointless, actually)
I really don't understand the market for gaming keyboards.
Depends on the keyboard, for MMOs and strategy games those macro keys can come in handy. For mechanical keyboard people buy them for the feel. Both are also bought for looks.

Most people who watch anime watch it and enjoy it as is, maybe talk to friends about it and move on with life.
Buncha words up in here
I watch anime because I like the damn shows, not to feel unique.

I don't know how others feel about it, but I absolutely hate it when youtubers ask for you to like/subscribe/favourite. If I like the video enough I'll like/favoruite it, if I like the content on their channel then I'll subscribe, I do not want you to keep shoving it in my face.
You have an issue with people that watch anime because you think it's for attention despite knowing that human nature is constantly driving "for attention and to find companionship with similar people."?
I think he's referring to people who use those garish anime or MLP-themed avatars as a way to be ironic, and he's probably right to some degree.
Here comes JohnnyMo right around the corner. I can hear him now, preparing.
Boo. It is my suspicion that most people who say that alcoholic drinks are shit just don't like the idea of being intoxicated. Which is fine on its own, but there are a shitton of alcoholic drinks, and plenty of mixed drinks don't taste like alcohol if they're made right. Alternatively, I bet a lot of people have a beer or vodka as their first drink and find it disgusting and suddenly all alcohol is bad. Of course, I can't rule out that you're some kind of superhuman that can taste alcohol in any quantities, but somehow I think it's less likely.

There will always be that group of crazy people who worship the things they like to a religious level and makes the whole thing look much less desirable to a more casual viewer/reader/player/general participant.
I Think gold should be earned by post amount and not by purchase , ive seen some 10 posts gold members out there
You do realize that the post count thing encouraged spamming right? Quite a few people had actually been [del]posted[/del] banned for just that and it's the reason that post count in fast threads was disabled.
Game Developers should allocate themselves more time (like more months) to better improve the games. For example, Battlefield 4 was rushed, and looked how buggy it was at launch.
What is a publisher? You're acting like the devs just want to rush their game out and aren't doing it because they aren't actually the ones in control.
I don't know how others feel about it, but I absolutely hate it when youtubers ask for you to like/subscribe/favourite. I understand why they ask, I saw an explanation about how those things affect search rankings somewhere around here, but that just makes them seem to care more about the money than what they're doing.
but that just makes them seem to care more about the money than what they're doing.
Unfortunately this happens alot, when channels get big they tend to start doing more simple quick boring stuff like let's plays which lots of people are in to (which gives them lots of money without much effort).
Smosh is an horrible youtube channel with no funny stuff whatsoever , i rather have their sub number delivered to another channel with more hard making videos such as corridor digital or etc
People who say things are 'fine' when there's something wrong which can easily be fixed. "Oh your game isn't filling your screen, want me to up the resolution?" "No, it's fine, there's nothing wrong." Fff
Filthy Frank is completely unfunny.
I don't care if it's 4/20, or Hitler's birthday.
I don't care if it's 4/20, or Hitler's birthday.
I only care about today because it just so happens to be my stepdad's birthday. The other two are completely irrelevant.
Filthy Frank is completely unfunny.
Let me continue that list for you. Not necessarily unfunny, just.. something that shouldn't exist: YourMovieSucksD..?? AngryJoeShow GameGrumps Jon&Tron Show (or whoever the fuck they are) Egoraptor (?? related to above??) TotalBiscuit JoergSprave 5secondfilms (that aren't even 5sec. FUCK YOUR SHIT) TheCrazyAtheist TYT Thug Notes (probably non-relevant by now?) carsandwater (!!) I probably missed a lot, but then there are actually youtube channels that I find genius; M64, BOS, AVGN(earned a special place somehow), Tested for their cooperation with Mythbusters, and some stuff like that. [editline]20th April 2014[/editline] [sp]source: examples of my brother's youtube subscriptions[/sp]
You have an issue with people that watch anime because you think it's for attention despite knowing that human nature is constantly driving "for attention and to find companionship with similar people."?
Who said I have an issue with it? That is just the reason I think a lot of people are attracted to those things. But there we go again, that is an unpopular opinion in Unpopular Opinions, so it might as well be dumbed to hell. I don't really get what this thread is for, considering some of the more "out there" conservatives come here to post and they get dumbed. Or the thing with Terracotta, which I am guilty of. I thought the idea that this thread was for sharing opinions that would get you flamed anywhere else on this site, no matter how dumb. Yet it happens in this thread to.
5sf, jontron and egoraptors earlier stuff are hilarious seems like you haven't even given most of that stuff a chance
Smosh is an horrible youtube channel with no funny stuff whatsoever , i rather have their sub number delivered to another channel with more hard making videos such as corridor digital or etc
I'll have to disagree with that, their production at the very least is quite solid. And we aren't their target demographic, it's like when a teenager says the wiggles is lame or something like that, it's not for them.

I don't find Scarlett Johansson attractive at all, neither do I find Megan Fox attractive. I see that the majority of the guys uphold the opposite of this opinion in real life and on Facepunch, so I classify this opinion as unpopular.
I don't like Shmorky's art.
