Just beat Bioshock. After a while of playing, I was sick of the gameplay but compelled by the storyline.
The problem I had was those Vita-chambers. If you die, you don't lose progress or revert to a save point. Instead, you literally respawn where you left of at the moment of death with the exception of your position. Dying didn't feel like a penalty in Bioshock, but rather a nuisance. They might as well have given Godmode.
I found out that you could turn off Vita-chambers, but why have it enabled by default? Why build the game around them?
[sp]Vita-chambers are the only thing we have keeping Elizabeth alive in our headcanon.[/sp]
It comes up a lot in the videos section aswell from what I've seen, SH is a shitpile though
People make dumb shit on youtube, and dumb shits pile on it, thankfully it's usually less people than you think
SH is essentially the /pol/ of facepunch, it's a bunch of biased people interpreting headlines to either be completely on their side and or against them then igniting flame wars for 20 pages, which are of no value since nobody changes their opinion by the end of it
I hardly ever browse there ever, I suggest anyone reading this does the same
Why does TF2 get away with f2p grinding when League doesn't
Why does TF2 get away with f2p grinding when League doesn't
Because the default loadouts are often the best while the changing free roster of LoL you need to get used to a new champion every week
or something like that
Why does TF2 get away with f2p grinding when League doesn't
Because MOBAs are bad.

That isn't grounded in any factual evidence at all
If it's because they're more accessible then the cheap League champions would fall under the same thing, but last time I played TF2 I don't remember seeing 80% default weapons if they were "the best"

Keep in mind I have barely played LoL
But a lot of stock weapons for TF2 are the best. Things like the scattergun, minigun, medigun, grenade launcher, sticky launcher, sniper rifle, knife, shotgun (for soldier). For example, take the grenade launcher. It's a perfect grenade launcher to start with and the Loch n Load isn't better than the GL or anything, you don't NEED to have it. But it does have some better things than the GL and some worse things than the GL.

That's dependent only on your opinion and not on statistical usage or kill count
That's dependent only on your opinion and not on statistical usage or kill count
I don't know where to find the stats but the GL is used way more than the Loch N Load and the other cannon thing.
I'm kinda starting to feel like the colonists were in the wrong in the American revolution
Regenerating health is not inherently everything wrong with video games.

Whats dumb about the Vita chambers in bioshock is that they hardly use them as part of the storyline. Like I read this fan rewrite of the ending where the final end boss becomes immortal and ends up being drowned and respawned forever.

The Vita-Chambers were designed by Suchong specifically for Ryan's use, and only accepted his DNA
Because Jack is Ryan's son, he's genetically a match for the chambers and they don't see a difference. Just like how the bathyspheres allow Jack to travel around as he pleases.

The Vita-Chambers (in the first game I haven't played Burial at Sea) were set to only work with Andrew Ryan's DNA, meaning only he and you could use them. There's also a Vita-Chamber in Ryan's office which is switched off, meaning if he was revived it would be somewhere away from where Fontaine's attention was.
Shadow The Hedgehog is actually a surprisingly good game.
Why does TF2 get away with f2p grinding when League doesn't
Because literally everything in TF2 that matters is dirt cheap, 3 cents per weapon. Even cheaper if you pay with scrap metal. You can tune in and out of any match at your leisure, while in League you have to dedicate a set amount of time for each game in order to even obtain a fraction of the in-game currency that you need to unlock a new champion. In TF2, once you find any normal weapon, you can trade it for any other weapon because they all have the same cheap value. LoL doesn't have trading, LoL doesn't have a way to gain small amounts of IP without dedicating half an hour or more for each session.
They are completely different games with different systems. The fact you'd even ask that question boggles my mind.
[sp]Vita-chambers are the only thing we have keeping Elizabeth alive in our headcanon.[/sp]
Wut? How does that even make any sense?

As if you don't need to dedicate time in to get drops? You can't just magically get the weapon you want by playing 2 minutes a week
Trading and crafting reduces the deviation from what you want due to the luck based drop system, but in the end unless you're putting in money you won't be able to instantly get what you want either

At the same time, TF2 not only has an economy with trading and crafting, but there are many less weapons in TF2 than there are champions in LoL. On top of that, each stat-changing item is much cheaper than what they are in LoL. If you were to sit down and play both games excessively, and use whatever resources you have available to you to get each item without spending money, you would by far make more progress in TF2. Because the structure the game has fits f2p a lot better, you can get everything easily so as long as you are resourceful. While in League, it's just "get IP and buy it directly."
No one said anything about "getting stuff instantly." TF2 just allows for much more resourcefulness, while LoL is much more straightforward.

Hey thanks for spoiling Bioshock, not like I had finished it or anything.
I had Infinite's big thing spoiled for me, and now that for the first one. :/
Fast threads and people who post there aren't as bad as I've seen people make it out to be. There are other places on FP that are just as bad if not worse.
[sp]Sensationalist Headlines comes to mind[/sp]
then i guess this a really unpopular opinion:
fast threads and sensationalist headlines are my favorite sections
although that's mostly because i can really let my shitty sense of humor shine there
The Black Mesa soundtrack is awesome.
terribly loud, though. It suffers from the loudness war.
sounded fine to me
Looking at it in a wave editor shows it's hitting way too close to clipping way too often.
I'm tired of seeing this argument.
Here is a professionally recorded song (post hardcore):

Point is, it doesn't matter if the song "looks too loud".
Democracy as a system of government is incapable of solving more than superficial problems. Look at climate change. An authoritarian state can get the best possible scientific information, then force whatever measures are necessary in a quick and efficient manner. In a democracy, empirical knowledge can be shouted down with denial and conspiracy theories until elected leaders feel enough pressure and sense enough bogus "controversy" to decide to do nothing. Democracy is guided by the will of the people, and when it comes to really important shit, people are dumb, uninformed, greedy, and confuse freedom with stubborn clinging to false beliefs. That is why authoritarian states will take the necessary steps to address the disasters WE have baked into the system, and democracies will suffer a collapse in social order when the seas finally arrive at their doors.
Democracy is a remarkably stable system...in the absence of existential threats requiring huge investment. We regard the participation of regular people as the greatest strength of democracy, but allowing regular, dumb people to control the direction of government will doom our society in the end. We're so married to the feeling of "freedom" (whatever the fuck that means) that we keep our government from requiring even the slightest sacrifice or change in lifestyle from us, but ignore the massive curbing of liberties that will have to happen when the climate crisis finally arrives.
Looking around today, I honestly believe that the people of 1,000 years from now will regard democracy as a failed experiment that was defined by it's paralysis in times of crisis and inability to see further ahead than it's own nose. I do believe democracy is a wonderful form of government; maybe even the perfect form of government. But we're not worthy of it. As people, we are not up to the task of being citizens of a democracy. We can't be trusted with our votes. We have a long way to go towards overcoming our own human nature before democracy can really deal with serious, existential problems that can't be solved in one election cycle.
unpopular opinion :suicide:
There is no perfect ruling of government, absolute monarchies lead to even LESS getting done because of the corruption innate in the system, and autocracy is the same way.
The one system of government that isnt democracy that I could work is technocracy, but that could lead to the poor getting fucked over in a big way.
I honestly can't stand what TF2 has become now. It's just far too obnoxious for my taste and the awful community only justifies my reason for disliking it.
If your primary argument in support of the IDF is that 'Hamas uses human shields,' you're full of shit.
If your primary argument in support of the IDF is that 'Hamas uses human shields,' you're full of shit.
This. Because Israel has been known to use ACTUAL human shields.
