This is generally unpopular on Facepunch, but moderators should be held to a higher posting standard than a shitposter.
I couldn't agree more. Mods should be respectable and fair, being provocative at times or arguing about stuff is alright but sometimes mods go overboard.
I would never move to the United Kingdom. The weather is awful, the people are miserable, the politics are the same as the US, and the food is bland.
Disagree with your point about the politics personally, also you can get any food you want here... But the weather and the people, spot on.

I like the Yogscast.
This is generally unpopular on Facepunch, but moderators should be held to a higher posting standard than a shitposter.
i dont think so as long as a mod is doing their job well who cares, people get way too worked up about them "representing the community"
i dont think so as long as a mod is doing their job well who cares, people get way too worked up about them "representing the community"
Mods shouldn't be doing the same shit they ban others for.
Mods shouldn't be doing the same shit they ban others for.
you sure? I think it was craptasket who banned someone for trying to log in to craptasket's account. I'm pretty sure craptasket logs in often.
Mods shouldn't be doing the same shit they ban others for.
and when have they banned someone for doing what craptasket did? in threads sure but the same rules don't really apply to profile messages
and when have they banned someone for doing what craptasket did? in threads sure but the same rules don't really apply to profile messages
If you check the event logs people get banned simply for spamming too many visitor messages. They also get banned for harassing others via the visitor message or PM system. None of these things happened to Craptasket when he did what he did on the dead guy's profile, so understandably those who want moderators to be held to a higher standard of posting are upset about it.
ehh, I kind of like the attitude here, results in some interesting posts. Though mods do set a standard and some here kind of set not good standards.
I kind of agree. I like that mods here don't try so hard to be professional at all times. Makes them more approachable as posters in my opinion. However, I don't feel that being a mod is a free pass to break rules. I won't pretend to know what every mod has done here, so I don't really have an opinion on who should be demodded or whatever. But, I've always felt that so long as a mod isn't causing problems, like, every other day they can be forgiven for a mistake every now and then. They're only human, so I think its a bit unreasonable to expect them to always be at their best. That said, I'm not trying to apply this to any mod here in particular or justify what anyone has done. Its just my general attitude towards moderators and the standard they're held to in general. Also not to say that I think people should just immediately forgive and forget when a mod does something they think is wrong.
and when have they banned someone for doing what craptasket did? in threads sure but the same rules don't really apply to profile messages
I didn't even mention Craptasket. But while we're on the subject he has banned people for doing far less offensive things through visitor messages. Ie: I got banned by Craptasket for quoting this on this user's visitor messages making it blatantly obvious it was a joke: You can't see my visitor message because it's been deleted but if I recall correctly my exact message was "Stop posting, kill yourself, or something really stupid. :v:" which is very arguably nowhere near as bad as Craptasket's shitting all over a user's profile who committed suicide. Though do keep in mind this was like 2-3 years ago now but the point does still stand.

Being a mod should be bannable offense.
ehh, I kind of like the attitude here, results in some interesting posts. Though mods do set a standard and some here kind of set not good standards.
Mods can be chill and actually participate with a community, but that doesn't equal shitposting. Like, the star moderator of TWC was demodded a couple months back from breaking Staff Non-Disclosure, and in the end it wasn't really anything major, but he still broke it. So they took away his moderator status. He was the top moderator they had, helping keep the site extremely free of rule breakers. Yet they realized he broke a rule, so he had to go. It's the exact opposite here where I see people go "oh we shouldn't demod them just because they're shitposting because that makes them more fun and look at all the good they do!". I guess I just don't see it that way.
I think that the Hot Girls thread, the Catgirl thread or the Hot Guys thread are pretty much pointless since if you wanna see either hot girls or hot guys you can look up just about any pornsite or follow some tumblr blogs, but the What Turns You On The Most thread doesn't fall into the same category in my opinion. That thread feels to fit the "post your" theme of the fast threads section better, and sometimes people post stuff I don't really know about so it can even feel like a learning experience.
Ashman55 is a corrupt, power hungry mod! The guy is a gestapo!

While we're at it let's get rid of 'Sensationalist Headlines' since all that really is is just news articles stolen from other websites that we could find easily by googling 'news'

"I don't see the point of it". And I don't see the point of a lot of things, like Durgs Discussion, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be allowed.

Aren't those subforums... exactly the place for those kinds of things?
What do you get from discussing illegal drugs in a public forum that's mostly about video games and non 18+ media? Anything goes, including stuff that you might not like. I'm fine with it, it doesn't affect me or my discussion experience in any way since it's properly isolated from the stuff I'm interested in.
Could create a porn subforum in hobbies called maniacal masterbation or something the description could be "watching strangers cum in a vag until it happens"
What do you get from discussing illegal drugs in a public forum that's mostly about video games and non 18+ media? Because gore and porn are 2 VERY VERY VERY different things
Because gore and porn are 2 VERY VERY VERY different things
Both involve penetration of the body
lot less blood and guts in porn
lot less blood and guts in porn
(i'm being facetious if you didn't notice)
