It's more racist to have a black guy in your movie/show/game just for the sake of racial diversity, than it is to have no black guys at all.
I think that Bo Burnham is extremely unfunny
I didn't think that was an unpopular opinion
It's more racist to have a black guy in your movie/show/game just for the sake of racial diversity, than it is to have no black guys at all.
here's the thing though: at what point does that character become a "token black guy"? when he's the only one in the main group? what if the director looked at all the possible choices and saw that, coincidentally, the actors that'd fit the characters he wants just so happen to be all white, save for one of them? of course that's not always the case, i'm not that naive, but people really need to stop thinking every single minority character is just there so they can be seen as progressive. just look at the threads about thor and captain america being replaced by a woman and a black guy; so many people jump to the conclusion that they're pandering to SJWs when they're literally only doing what they've been doing for as long as comic books have existed: having characters take up the mantle of other characters who can't keep being that hero anymore for whatever reason, except that now they did it with a woman and a black guy
As I said in my post, "Just for the sake of racial diversity", so I'm talking about token black guys.
that's my point, people tend to consider regular characters with reasonable backstories token black guys just because they're black
Semi-related, but whenever its announced that a character in something who has never had their sexuality discussed might be gay or whatever, I find it really hard to be so against it like I see some people being. I really don't see the problem with having more diversity in sexuality, sex, gender, or race at all.
Using an ist or ism from tumblr directly translates to: "please disregard anything i've said/about to say"
Facepunch debating 101, when you disagree with a person but can't actually formulate an argument against them, just say tumblr, 4chan, or reddit (and in some circumstances JIDF).
that's my point, people tend to consider regular characters with reasonable backstories token black guys just because they're black
I'm not talking about that though, I'm talking about actual token black guys, that are there only because the producer or developer or someone said "We don't have enough black guys", and I just feel that's more racist than simply not having black people.
yeah i know, i wasn't trying to adress your point directly, it was just a related branch of the same topic
Oh, ok, sorry.
I didn't like Guardians of the Galaxy.
I didn't like Guardians of the Galaxy.
And you joined just to tell us that.
And you joined just to tell us that.
you gotta make a first post somehwere
The majority of metal lyrics are really fucking cringey. I don't like metal much in general so I'm obviously biased here though
It's only a matter of time until Game Grumps finally collapses. Fuck em all-- arin in particular, but danny is still pretty adorable but stale as fuck. They're just not funny anymore. Ever since their princess game, something must've happened that turned Danny into a stale, unentertaining guy.
Game Grumps made me really dislike Arin.
Using an ist or ism from tumblr directly translates to: "please disregard anything i've said/about to say"
Also whipping out buzzwords like patriarchy where they need not apply, and throwing around non-sequitirs that are literally meant to slight the person you're talking to because of their gender or whatever to get a leg-up I was playing cards against humanity at a friend's party a few months back (hahahheahehae) and this one girl I knew for years was there, but I hadn't talked to her in a while and suddenly she would be making references like "DON'T SIT THAT WAY YOU RACIST" in the middle of casual conversation The number of times she yelled something about a patriarchy in the room due to the number of males making funny card combinations almost made me tell her to fuck off, but it wasn't my party and I don't get involved with crazy usually So many people I know complain about not getting fair treatment while their definition of "fair" treatment isn't fair at all and usually worsens with the amount of time spent sitting at home I don't enjoy having to step on eggshells for you while talking about space just because people who mention Pluto not being a planet are "triggers" for you I thought a trigger was like, you can't pass the spot that you were brutally raped at because you have intense flashbacks and panic, not because you feel that it is your personal duty and right as a citizen to feel offended by and disagree with people Like fuck you guys, I'm gonna be trendy and pick something to feel offended about
On the opposite end of the spectrum, disregarding what somebody is saying simply because you don't like the word they used is honestly pretty stupid.
I still love Game Grumps - Danny is probably the most interesting and best person on the show and the others aren't so bad either. Arin is okay too, when you get past his annoying quirks and opinions, he sounds like a very cool guy. The GG fandom seem to have the goggles on again - remember Naughty Bear? And also I never found Spongebob to be that great. I gave it a go throughout the years (yes, the early seasons) and it just never resonated with me. Seeing it shoehorned into every little nook and cranny of the net is mildly annoying too.
Porn threads are weird.
George Carlin was an asshole.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, disregarding what somebody is saying simply because you don't like the word they used is honestly pretty stupid.
I never disregarded what he said, just provided warning that others probably would.
I never disregarded what he said, just provided warning that others probably would.
Was referring to this:
Using an ist or ism from tumblr directly translates to: "please disregard anything i've said/about to say"
I'm not sure where you got the impression I was accusing you of that.
That was kind of the entire point of his shows.
Indeed. His stage persona was certainly a bit of an asshole and that was the point. His appearances on TV shows make it seem like he's wasn't quite like that personally but there is definitely a crossover I think. Can't be sure though as I never knew him on a personal level and his TV appearances could have been utilising another persona. I like his work though and find much of it inspiring and fascinating. He was an interesting comic and it saddens me that I discovered him shortly before his death and I will never see him perform.
Game Grumps was never good(even though Jon is one of my favorite people on youtube)
Game Grumps was never good(even though Jon is one of my favorite people on youtube)
I liked old game grumps until it started getting apparent that Erin was just incompetent in both how he played and his views on game design. I stopped watching for a few weeks and then Jon left and it turned to shit.
The only good Game Grumps was Goof Troop.
I just don't get how Arrested Development is funny?
Speaking of arrested development, I thought season 4 was horrible. Don't binge watch? Hah, I could barely get through the first 3 episodes and I still haven't finished it since then.
Speaking of arrested development, I thought season 4 was horrible. Don't binge watch? On 5 seperate attempts ive tried watching the first 5 episodes. Each time i literally had this face through it :l It's just dumbass humor, you'll only find it funny if you have the least amount of braincells to do basic functions
