But you just listed why I hate Windows 8
It's unecesarry when I can just click on the start button on W7 and all my stuff is already there.
Classic Shell.
There, you can move on to 8.1 now.

How's 8.1?
How's 8.1?
8 and 8.1 offer better performance over Windows 7, more recent versions of DirectX, and they won't be losing core update support for another five or more years. Not to mention Windows 9 is on its way and rumor has it that anyone using Windows 8.1 will get a free upgrade to 9.

I'll wait it out 'till 9.
I personally think people who hate Windows 8/8.1 purely because of the missing start button, the metro UI, the metro apps, or any combination of the three, should not be allowed to touch a computer ever again. They're such minor issues that can be easily corrected or even outright avoided without harming the user experience in any conceivable way, and if all you're going to do is complain about it instead of giving it an honest try or following a few simple steps to correct/avoid these insignificant changes, you're making yourself look like a big fucking baby.
If 8 is so good why are they reverting all the changes you mentioned for 9?

Oh piss off. Just because you don't mind the changes with Windows 8 doesn't mean other people's complaints are invalid.

But that's just it, boyo. Those complaints most people have are so minor and insignificant.
"waaah i want the start button back!!!!"
Install Classic Shell.
"waaah i don't like the metro UI!!!!"
Set it to boot to desktop mode.
"waaah i don't like the windows 8 apps!!!!"
Don't use them and download their normal desktop equivalents instead.
They're minor to you. There's a reason Windows 9 is reverting most of the stuff to the classic style.
Something I'd like to point out here, is that if you have a 6 year old toaster like I do, you might wanna stick with 7 until you get some newer hardware. Driver support for win8.1 isn't very good if your hardware is ancient, but if all you do is browse the innernet and play games that aren't very demanding then by all means upgrade to win8.1.

Yeah beacause a bunch of people who overreacted to those changes never gave it a real chance.
I used to be one of those people. Then I actually started to use the OS, and I like it far more than 7.
I have Windows 8 and I have no idea how to use it correctly, but I think its fine.
Like I think I'm using 10% of what its capable of.
Edit: Disregard what the post says on what OS this was posted from. This isn't my desktop.

I used the OS for 3 weeks and I still hate the changes. Again, just because you like it doesn't mean other people are retards so stop fucking acting like they are.
Literally every fucking time this is brought up people say "Well if you don't like W8 you just didn't give it a chance", which is fucking dismissive and stupid.

That's because they've progressively been getting worse.
How's 8.1?
8.1 is pretty good, much better than 8 was a few years ago. I think a lot of people tried out the 8 beta, had a bad experience, and it left a bitter taste in their mouth.

Then again I could also not upgrade and not have this minor issue.
-0.1 is still smaller than 0. And I don't have a reason do upgrade.
I mean I'd upgrade if I did a format or something but without an even semi decent reason I ain't gonna do it.

My system is nearly that old and it has an i7 920, 6gb ram, 560ti yet I don't seem to have any driver issues with 8.1 even with old printers and peripherals. What hardware do you mean has bad driver support?
I dunno if this unpopular here but it is other places
The Walking Dead Game's writing and story is SO much better than the show's.
Linkin Park is one of my favorite bands.

Beyond the exceptionally cringey lyrics, I think that Hybrid Theory and Meteora are both pretty good albums, and A Thousand Suns had some interesting songs in it too.

Did you have trouble with chipset drivers? My 4870 was fine too before I got the 560ti

Pretty sure they were laughing while crawling all the way to the bank with that one.
BTW what Fallout game do you recommend?
Start with 1, then 2, then NV. FO3 last.
If you can't get into 1 or 2 due to their age, jump to NV- but they're totally worth it.
Fallout 3's not horrible, it's a good game on it's own right and I'll admit the map and all is pretty nice compared to NV which could be a bit bland to explore. But everything that New Vegas has going for it, from the story to the setting to the writing is amazing- and above all- proper Fallout. Fallout 3 didn't do the original setting, themes, and lore that much justice. But that's all the sort of thing you'd appreciate more if you start with 1 and 2. As a jumping off point, 3 can work. That's actually how I got introduced to the series.
If you want to know a bit more about 3 vs NV, here's an amazing video that I feel hits the nail on the head as well.
or you could be like me and use TTW to do FO3 with NV's improved features and do both games at the same time. :v:
I haven't actually used TTW, and while I love idea of 3 with NV's features and all... from what I gathered it shoehorns an excuse for the main character in both games to be the same. That seems kinda dumb to me. :v:
I just ignore that part.
or just imagine that I was born in the vault and eventually wandered westward and became a courier, whom was then shot in the head, making me forget most of my past.
