I love my coffee but I will never understand why people can drink shit American coffee like Starbucks.
Not all VNs have choices. You're being dense and thats the problem
Uh so if that's your argument, why did you say "It's a fact VNs arent games" because that implies you think none are. Now you are saying some aren't because they don't offer choices. No one can effectively argue with you if your point is all over the place.
And if you can't make that point without childishly insulting the people you are arguing against you probably should stop and chill out. If I am 'dense' it's because I have no idea what your base argument even is.
Why does it matter whether VN's are games or not?
Coffee is overrated
Branching Choices make it a game because Choose Your Own Adventure is a gaming genre and is something that sets it apart from just being a novel or a book like "Game books". Games don't need it. Visual Novels may need it to be considered games just like how Gamebooks need branching choices to be considered more than just a book.
If it requires branching choices to be considered a game then why is a completely linear game still considered a game?
What game are you even talking about
There's nothing saying that you can't be linear and not still be a game. Linear games can still have action, puzzles, etc.
Visual Novels may need branching choices to be considered games. I stated it like that because a lot of VNs are considered games because they let you pick choices.
No but really what game are you even talking about. Are you trying to bring up Dear Esther or Gone Home?
You're contradicting yourself. You're saying that games can be linear but then you're saying a visual novel can't be linear and count as a game. Which is it?
And Dear Esther is arguably linear (to my knowledge at least) while Gone Home isn't exactly linear, you can accomplish the objectives for it in many different orders. I'm meaning more games like Call of Duty though not necessarily CoD itself since I haven't really played the series. The modern fps genre especially tends to be exceedingly linear and yet counts as a game.
Even though CoD is linear, you still make choices. Choices of which direction to move and who to shoot first. While shallow, they're still choices.
Some VNs are just "click for next page", and those are the ones I wouldn't consider games.
Some VNs are just "click for next page", and those are the ones I wouldn't consider games.
Those are called kinetic novels anyways and they're basically a graphical ebook in application format, often with music and sometimes with voice acting.
is it me or does Andrew WK only ever sing about parties?
It gets a tad annoying when its just

Well there's Ready to Die
But anytime you talk about it it's guaranteed some brony comes up and starts talking about their edgy cupcakes fanfic or something like that.
Being a Visual Novel doesn't make something a game. Because Visual Novels are basically books at its very core. However when you add aspects from games such as CYOA, Strategy, Point and Click, etc it becomes a game.
No one said that being a visual novel makes it instantly a video games. There are visual novels that function no differently to books. The issue arised from you not making your point clear and multiple times saying "Visual Novels aren't games" then saying "Some can be games" in like a single post.
Basically its erroneous to say Visual Novels are games(Because it implies all Visual Novels are games), however Visual Novels have the ability to be games. Like how Books aren't games. However they can be when you add branching choices and etc (See gamebooks).
Well again, the only person who definitively said anything about visual novels was you, and that was to say "They aren't games." If you made your point clear without saying it's a fact they aren't, I doubt anyone would even disagree.
When you think about it that isn't even an unpopular opinion, like no shit there are some visual novels which absolutely no interactivity with the storyline and are read like books. Those are questionable as video games.
So what? I guess I'll apologize for calling you dense i dunno. Sorry!??!
Are you done being obnoxious?
Coffee is overrated
I think coffee smells incredible, but I can't stand the way it tastes. Maybe I just haven't found the right flavor yet, I don't really know.

but i guess a lot of gamers just have a hate boner
I don't care about canon in fiction, besides what's in the work itself.
Like fan theories are fun but I can't stand people who argue about them like it's a real thing. It's just a story, fill in the gaps however you want regardless of what the "authority" says.

The story is whatever you want to interpret it to be, it's not real, do what you want. Is the way I see it.

The thing that pisses me off about canon is when people argue what's canon in a game with choices/branching paths. Everything is canon, don't have a superiority complex and act like the way you play is magically more canon than someone else's.
burger king has never steered me wrong.
playing as a faction in CK2 with gavelkind succession makes the game literally unfun
The Pokemon series is the same repetitive shit it has always been.
I think gay kids should stay in the closet until they're out of the house and are not dependent on their parents anymore. It'd be so much easier and stress-free for them if they live in a religious household.

Hooray! I'll celebrate by taking you off my Ignore list.
Not like it did much anyway, I still viewed all your posts.

the "if they live in a religious household" bit is very important
Tenacious D - Tribute is a terrible song and so stupidly overrated.

Now I've never been a huge fan of the Simpsons but it was a part of my life growing up because we had every fuckin' season on DVD. So saying that, I watched some newer Simpsons, and, well, it's not that bad really. It's not great, but it's pretty decent.
(even so what the fuck is this two frames TWO FRAMES)
I'm not saying the game is garaunteed to be great, but The Sims 4 looks pretty good.
It could still end up bad but based on the CAS demo and what I've seen, I'm cautiously optimistic on spite of some of the less than ideal changes.

It has "Woo-hoo" as a skill now. Of course it's going to be good.

I depends what you play the game for. Theres 3 types of players for that game.
1. Architectural purposes - My boyfriend loves the Sims franchise because of the whole architectural possibilities for it, he played Sims since he was 10. (also helps that he is an architect himself now)
2. The life Simulator - Kind of like a second life for some people. They like playing the game and trying to make their dream life on it.
3. The Simtographer - Not a huge community this one, but a big enough community to get noticed. Mainly for tumblr users but they love playing with their sims and creating a story, taking snapshots as they go and posting their lives.
My boyfriend who plays it for option 1 is very iffy about the game. He doesn't like how cartoony it looks but hes still optimistic about the whole thing. He loves the fact you can move whole lots now, makes life a lot easier and wants to try the new smart room tool that keeps the room in style when you expand it.
My other friend who is more of the option 3 is so excited for the new one because of the upgraded CAS.
Its all personal perception.
I prefer rain over sunlight
My new mic is like 3 times the size I expected oh boy.
