I can't stand "black culture"
I love black people but I hate niggers.

I can probably guess what you actually mean, but you picked what was probably the worst way possible to say it.
Maybe he means the concept
Maybe he means the concept
Black culture is broad as fuck
I never really cared for Charlie Brown when I was a kid, and I still don't really like it now. I just don't see the appeal.
Maybe he means the concept
That's what I meant but I don't think I was clear enough, sorry for sounding racist
Blood Meridian has some of the worst sentence structure and grammar I've ever seen. It's full of run on sentences (and I mean, the entire book may as well be a single, unbelievably long run on sentence), the narration is not obviously separate from the dialogue. The attention to detail in most scenes is very thorough and imaginative, but god damn, I remember reading through a scene and being halfway through a section of dialogue before wondering why the environment was talking to itself.
But it's a really good book.
I hate when people use run-on sentences in general, but Cormac McCarthy knows how to break the rules just right.
Family Guy is still kinda funny... :v: I can see why people don't like it though. I haven't watched it in months so I might start again.

So much of Family Guy is uninspired and lame. I don't really see the appeal in a show full of meager gags and references to pop culture or whatever in lieu of good jokes.

that's fine, it's not a show for everybody. This season of South Park is a little too mellow compared to their other seasons, I hope it picks up pace soon. Somehow I think they're gonna do a big reveal because of how connected all of the episodes are so far :tinfoil:
Continuing on the subject of cartoons, I find South Park just painfully unfunny and obnoxiously preachy.
so is Adventure Time.

That's what Chris Rock said in his stand up comedy performance "bring the pain".
I don't think anyone realized it though.

I think new Family Guy is better than old Family Guy. But American Dad is clearly the superior McFarlane show irregardless.

It's also irritating when fans insist South Park is somehow sophisticated because of that preachiness.
I don't want to sound pretentious: but I think a lot of people here don't get that it's possible for something to be over hyped but not bad. Case in point: Frozen, back when it was still fairly new everyone here liked it, but now that its been milked so much it has to be worse than Hitler, it definitely wasn't worth making all this fuss about (and it's obviously just being done for money) but it's still a pretty good movie.
I hate it when people say shit like this
"I don't like your opinion never have any opinions again"
it's the written equivalent of "LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU"
When you're already a joke what's left but to make fun of you?

the internet in general is really binary about the quality of things nowadays. It's either the best thing ever made or the biggest piece of shit ever created. Rarely do people ever get satisfied with saying "Meh it's average"
Stopping at your best makes no fucking sense.
We mainly do this for music and little to nothing else; imagine going up to Neil DeGrasse Tyson and being like "Neil, you're at your best, things are as fantastic as they've ever been, stop and retire immediately"
but yet we treat musicians like they're obligated to immediately halt as soon as they've reached their full potential, it makes no sense at all, you could be at your best for 20 years before there's any decline, hell, a decline isn't even necessarily going to happen, some things, like George Carlin, stay at their best forever
now, knowing when to end things because they're going downhill is important, but all artists have ups and downs in quality, and you definitely shouldn't end because you've hit a major up
I don't know, wanting bands to die just because they're good seems inherently counterproductive to me
I, frankly, think depression is a weakness. Nearly everyone I've known that claims they suffered from it, to whichever degree, end up either finding themselves to be perfectly fine, or they continue to tell compulsive lies about it in order to seek attention.
Althought you said it in a really dickish way.
I kind of agree with you to a certain extent. In my personal experience, i've only know people that were "depressed" for the most pathetic reasons and know they were only doing it for attention.
But i do know that there are quite a few people out there that suffer from actual depression. I went through it once for a few months during my degree course when my dad broke up with his fiance a few weeks before the wedding and he decided to vent to me every night for 2 hours about how his life is screwed up and how he only lives for his two youngest kids (the ones he had with his ex fiance) which drove me to a pretty dark place.
I think depression is a personal thing. It effects people differently. I think i am quite tough skinned so it took a lot of dragging down to get me to that point. But other people are a lot more sensitive than i am. But for me, depression felt like i was hollow, on auto-pilot, every thought was cloudy and i just wanted to go sleep and not wake up. I would go on the bus towards my degree course and i'd just think "what if the bus crashed now, i wouldn't have to deal with anything anymore if i died" which was a scary, daily occurence.
Depression exists, but i feel that it is a easy get-out-of-jail free card for people if they wan't to avoid something in their life or what attention. And unfortunately, the people that have seen someone suffer from it or have suffered from it themselves, soaks it up to those people and give them all the attention they desire because of the thought that they may "off themselves".

There's a big difference between saying "Depression is real, but some people use it as an excuse to get out of things/say they're depressed when they're just sad", like you said, and "Depression doesn't exist, and people who say they are depressed are liars".

Hense why i said "To a certain extent"

I get what you mean, but they usually say that cuz ending at the best can leave the brand alive forever.
It's basically a matter of leaving while you are missed instead of leaving because everyone is tired of you. Not that every musician should do this, but for some it really helps to leave a good legacy.
Most people would rather hear "Man that album was fantastic, I wish they'd come back!" rather than "Man after that one album, they really fell off. Kind of a shame"
[editline]10th December 2014[/editline]
It doesn't help that the music industry is incredibly fickle and slight changes to your style can cost you a whole fanbase
freedom > safety/security
freedom > safety/security
Kind of depends. It's not freedom really to tax the rich to pay for socialized medicine, but I'm all for it. But the nsa, etc. are fuck no.
Nearly everyone I've known that claims they suffered from it, to whichever degree, end up finding themselves to be perfectly fine
is healing an inconceivable concept to you or what
