Bacon is highly overrated. and not all vegans are annoying, just the ones who do it for attentions. if i wasn't so weak, i would stop eating meat
Just going to input onto the Nintendo rehashing argument, let's put it in perspective based on other games. One could say Half-Life 2 was the same as Half-Life 1, but with less meat, and that the episodes for Half-Life 2 are the same thing as Half-Life 2.
Half Life 1 is nothing like Half Life 2. The only similarity they share is that they belong to the FPS genre. The gameplay differs significantly between the two, and so does the story. However, the Episodes are very much the same thing as Half Life 2 gameplay wise.
You could say Fallout 2 was the same as Fallout 1, and that Fallout: New Vegas was the same as Fallout 3.
Once again, a fair comparison, but New Vegas tweaks and balances much of Fallout 3. New inclusions like ironsights, new perks and skills, and lest we forgot a new setting, story, and characters make the game very different.
ARMA 3 is the same as ARMA 2
No, it is not.
GTA 5 will be the same as GTA 4, so on and so forth. But that is the reason people like games in a series: they tend to be similar to a game they played previously that they liked.
Yes but there are key differences between similarities and being the same thing. Nintendo's problem is that they release games that are essentially the same thing. Sometimes there are new levels and mechanics and that is fine, but some of their series (such as New Super Mario Brothers) are quite literally the same exact game. Many of those games you listed above may be similar, but they are not nearly "the same". They have new mechanics or tweaks and balances to current ones that change the game in rather significant ways. Nintendo doesn't do this. Though cosmetic elements might be changed, often times core gameplay remains the same as it was in the 1980s. And even though games like Pokemon receive drastic tweaks and changes, the games release with such frequency and the changes happen so infrequently that they are barely noticeable unless you look at games in the series that are substantial years apart. There lies Ninetendo's problem. I do not think any has an issue with reusing IPs. The issues come from the frequency from which said IPs are reused and released. We need 1 original, interesting Mario game every 2 years, not 3 bland, similar Mario games every year. We need 1 Pokemon with more Pokemon and larger changes every 2-3 years as opposed to 4 new ones with minor changes and few new Pokemon every year. It is exactly the same thing that has happened with franchises like Call of Duty. The games would be good if more effort and time was put into each to make it more original from its predecessor. The same problem lies with games listed above (mechanically, anyways) such as Fallout 2 and the Half Life 2 episodes. However, those games have new characters, plotpoints, and they advance the overarching story of the series. Since Nintendo's games do not deal with story or characters so much, they can only focus on gameplay changes.
Nintendo isn't the only one who does this, but they seem to be the only ones who get away with it and even praised for it. See CoD for example; it gets constant criticism for being "the same game with two new guns and different maps", while there is nothing wrong with Pokemon Turd Brown III and Brand New Super Hyper Mario Land 4.
Pretty much. and I'd like to take back what i said on the case of Mario. I (oddly) find that Mario spin off games are more enjoyable than the actual main game line. Luigi's Mansion, Mario RPG, Paper Mario (the first two anyway), and the Mario Luigi series are pretty awesome. But when it comes to the actual titles, they can get pretty stale rather fast.
Why DO people give so much of a shit about what an internet celebrity does or is doing wrong. Yeah Arin can't see that you have to spray the mouth of the goo monster and not when it's closed and doing nothing. No reason to fucking slap them about it. And Grump thread needs to leave Ross alone. What did he do? :c
Grump thread needs to leave Ross alone. What did he do? :c
Change bad! Internet no like change! As for obsession over internet celebrities, it's the same as obsession with regular celebrities.
Change bad! Internet no like change! As for obsession over internet celebrities, it's the same as obsession with regular celebrities.
Kinda funny now you say it. Internet sometimes give shit about going nuts over regular movie and music celebs, but then goes on about internet celebs. Speaking of Internet celebs, I like Totalbiscuit.
Except you can easily control your weight.
Sure. That's why everybody is the exact weight they want to be and nobody is ever depressed because of their weight, right?
I don't like atheism
Sure. That's why everybody is the exact weight they want to be and nobody is ever depressed because of their weight, right?
Addressing the argument as a whole and not your post in particular: there are genetic factors aside from just rare diseases that cause you to be fat. Just like some people have bigger noses than others, some are genetically predisposed to being fatter than others. There's still control over it with diet and exercise, but it may be very difficult for some people to lose weight to the point where they are no longer considered overweight. Pen and Teller did an episode of Bullshit talking about this, and I recommend that for some further insight. Placebo is also a big factor in it, which is why depression makes it extremely difficult to lose weight as milkandcooki pointed out. [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline]
I don't like atheism
I don't like it when people try to claim there's logic behind atheism. The only religion there is any logic behind whatsoever is agnosticism. There's no evidence either way. Also logic can't really tell you how to live your life due to ultimate uncertainty. Logic works by accepting something as true and deriving other things as true by means of reason, and in philosophy there are no axioms that have really proven to be absolutely true. Jessecox, TB, Yogscast, Game Grumps, JonTron, etc. I, however, will never and refuse to ever obsess over any celebrity.
I don't like sunny weather as much as I like rain, I'd like to live somewhere where it rains alot, I find it much more peaceful. Scotland can be quite rainy but most of the time it is just dull and grey, which is worse than both. I hate it when a game series gets passed off to a completely different set of directors and designers. Half the time they don't seem to even know what was good about the original games and the results are jarring and very inconsistent with the rest of the series. Lager tastes like piss. It annoys me when people stave off criticism by indignantly saying 'have you people never heard of an opinion?'. Yes they have, they think yours is dumb. On that note, acknowledging your flaws doesn't excuse them. Also it annoys the piss out of me when people address arguments using strawman dialogue full of spelling and grammar errors. "but every1 who disagrees is retarded!!!1" That shit. It makes you look like an immature cunt.
I always thought glasses looked good on women and asians. I don't know why.
In the Court of the Crimson King and Enter the Wu-Tang were better albums than Abbey Road.
This isn't really an unpopular opinion; Abbey Road was released during a turbulent time nearly five months before Paul McCartney left the Beatles, and some songs were recorded close to a year before the album was released. The 16-minute medley has unfinished songs that are a minute long and a hidden rough track at the end that was supposed to play as the sixth song on the album. Speaking of The Beatles, I really hate how some people say things are "overrated". A lot of people don't realize just how influential the Beatles were. They were one of the first pop bands to make psychedelic music, and the whole hippie movement in the late '60s may have never happened without them.
The War Z is pretty fun.
Sure. That's why everybody is the exact weight they want to be and nobody is ever depressed because of their weight, right?
There is a thing called motivation.
The War Z is pretty fun.
To be honest, I agree that they totally had something there. The game itself has a great arcade feel and doesn't feel clunky at all.
There is a thing called motivation.
- somebody who has never had problems with weight or depression
- somebody who has never had problems with weight or depression
Brilliant judgement there buddy. I have had weight problems contrary to your belief, and massive self esteem problems. I found my own personal motivation, started working out and eating healthier foods and managed to lose around 20kg (3 Stone or 44lbs) in about 2 months. It's not an impossible feat.
there we go
So because it's my own personal experience it makes it the point invalid?
So because it's my own personal experience it makes it the point invalid?
On Facepunch thats how it works.
- somebody who has never had problems with weight or depression
I have always wondered what is stopping people?
I like the blocky and ridiculous level design in old games like Jedi Knight 2 and Half-Life.
So because it's my own personal experience it makes it the point invalid?
because not everybody is you, that's why
because not everybody is you, that's why
Doesn't mean you still can't find motivation
