What are you talking about? It doesn't really matter because randomness is what we observe in nature so you're kind of just going to have to get used to it. Like Einstein, the idea of a random universe doesn't sit well with me at all, but until the evidence says otherwise you've got to deal with it or you're deluding yourself and that doesn't make for good science.
In a vague sense but you can call anything god so it doesn't really make a difference. "The big bang was caused by god." It's vacuous so your point doesn't really demonstrate anything.
What are you talking about? That is exactly what Bell's theorem says. It asserts that any (local) deterministic theory is incompatible with our observations. The local part is pretty crucial but it means any theory consistent with experiment either has violations of relativity which we have never seen in nature or no hidden variable theory (i.e. any deterministic theory which explains how quantum states evolve without randomness) is compatible with experiment. People have proposed nonlocal deterministic theories which are exempt from Bell's theorem but largely these are not taken seriously because they involve nonlocality which we don't see in nature and which runs contrary to our (well-evidenced) theories.
Please do not insist on things if you don't know what you are saying.
I know perfectly what I am saying. My facepunch account is a result of me liking the Dota threads here. If you can't understand how randomness relates to what I say, you don't really have the authority to state that I don't know what I'm saying. Also, yes, the term "God" can be applicable to any set of quanta, I am using here the definition of "God" to be an effect appearing without cause. It makes no sense whatsoever, but that is intrinsic for the idea of a "God".
Also, I'm assuming that you'll be assuming that I'm the sort of person who spews scientific bullshit everywhere, trying to act like I know something, but as you've proven, not everyone on the internet who says something scientific is talking crap. Respect to you, sir.
The addictiveness of tobacco is due to MAO inhibitors present in the smoke boosting nicotine's rewarding properties, not nicotine alone.•

Coffee contains **THE EXACTLY SAME** MAO-inhibiting compounds (harman, norharman and other betacarbolines). Sure, coffee is a lot less dangerous than smoking, but you are still addicted to the MAO inhibitors. They are your primary addiction, not nicotine or caffeine.

So replacing smoking with coffee while a bit better still doesn't mean you've kicked your MAOI habit.

Had a post here but never mind. This doesn't need to clog up the thread but I want to continue the discussion so I'll contact you via PM.
I don't like Adventure Time.
I liked Aliens Colonial Marines
It's still really shitty, but i find it fun to play
Now who wants to shoot me!
Papers Please is the best game ever made
[sp]Glory to Arstozka![/sp]
Something needs to be done about these death threats to game developers.
This is fucking out of hand, and it's pissing me off that people are just that immature and full of shit, to say shit like that to these people and force them to leave.
Dark Souls is one of the best games of this generation.
How is this an unpopular opinion?
How is this an unpopular opinion?
because people think that the title belongs to bioshock or tlou
I think most of the facepunch users are assholes to the new guys, i know they can be pretty stupid but they're not gonna learn until somebody shows them the right path instead of filling their souls with boxes
Unlike most people, I actually liked the tiki's from Donkey Kong Country Returns and I'm glad they are using new villains instead of throwing the kremlings in every game.
I posted this in the unpopular opinions about video games section, but that place is dead so I reposted it here.
Bioshock gameplay is...on par with call of duty
GTA IV was and still is one of the greatest games ever made.

I know. Facepunch was my first forum. and yet some people still hold onto that just because I did stupid stuff back during my first days on a forum.
the lion king 1 1/2 is the best direct to dvd spinoff of all time

ALL HAIL THE LORD AND SAVIOR. dont pretend your magical powers arent weird Grenades and equipment and your weapon upgrades are just ACTUALLY USEFUL attachments
I hate mass effect
all of the games
the gameplay, the story, everything
i hate 'retro' games
i never understood why they were popular and why these people always rag on COD when they speak of quake / doom as if they were gift from the gods
quake combat is bad, its essentially just running and jumping until you blast someone's face in with a rocket in a fast speed
most retro platformers are annoying pretentious games that anyone in newsground churn out within a week

90's people.
They don't want to move on. They want their Zelda's and Marios.
They hate anything that tries to make it different. So for them, rose tinted nostalgia goggles, and same old same old is the way to go.

I think most indie platformers with 2D pixelart graphics are really boring and generic.
I don't have an issue with the style itself I just think it's overused and doesn't make a generic platformer unique.

That's not even remotely the case. Going on lolwutdude's example of Quake/Doom and COD, I like Doom a lot (never actually played Quake though) and don't like Call of Duty. The biggest reason? I despise cover mechanics. They make the game boring and tedious to me. Admittedly Doom requires taking cover sometimes when facing a large number of hitscan enemies or a spider mastermind but it's not a huge necessary thing simply to proceed in the game normally. Whereas in games like Call of Duty it's go to cover->pop out and shoot a bit->repeat those steps until it's safe to advance->move to next cover and repeat everything again. Of course that is generalizing/exaggerating a bit but for me personally, that's exactly what ruins most shooters for me.
Doom/Quake were awesome because they were completely unrealistic and off the hook. You just went nuts doing whatever.
Blood Dragon came close to recapturing that feel for me, but it wasn't quite there. The high movement speed made it hella like Doom/Quake though.

I 99% of the time don't like the style when I see it, it's usually either out of lazyness, or is some gimmick that doesn't try to look very appealing, the old games tried their hardest to be as realistic as possible. I think a good example of a modern-ish game using this style would be cave story.
it's usually either out of lazyness,
Have you SEEN sprite sheets for DooM?
[t]https://soulsphere.org/img/doomfaces.png[/t]
This is just for a HUD element, not even a gameplay object
[t]http://www.spriters-resource.com/resources/sheets/25/27875.png[/t]
These are the sprites for just one enemy. With a fuckton of enemies and animated entities and weapons, I think you're giving games like this less credit than they deserve.

i dont know what game you're playing, because i have never in my life used cover in call of duty any more than i would have in quake/doom
at least in the multiplayer i just go apeshit and shoot everything that moves with no regard for my personal safety

one of the most amazing fps games that showcases personal skill in a multiplayer environment and you try to simplify it to that? seriously?

At a basic level this is the crux of every FPS game; the difference is the graphics, weapons, physics and objectives.
I think Borderlands and Deus Ex is boring as fuck.
I don't hate any CoD games besides MW2.
I don't hate cosmetics in TF2, but I absolutely despise them in Dota 2.
I have no problems with people practicing their religion as long as they aren't hateful or committing crimes. All my closest friends in school are really Catholic, but they have no problems with abortion/gay marriage/etc.
I still refer to Half-Life 2: Episode 3 as Episode 3 instead of HL3.
I find crit1kal really unfunny and his voice really obnoxious.
Diablo's design in Diablo 3 was great
