If you live in the same dormitory/apartment building as least one of your classmates, make sure that you both become good friends. Because it will really help you through the studies and easily hangout.
And if we are talking about hygiene then I just gotta say: brush your teeth in the morning. There are still guys that don't do it at my school and it's awfully noticeable, so do yourself a favor and brush in the morning if you don't already.

And floss, it's pretty damn important. If you also use mouthwash, even better.
Also you don't have to be some kind of fashion diva who spends a ton of money on clothes, but make it seem like you care, so ditch the faded band shirts you got years ago, cut your hair/shave. All that jazz.

Don't be this guy. Learn what to write down or you're going to have excess notes and not know what to study. College freshmen do this all the time (seriously I can't tell you how many I've seen taking notes over the syllabus that's sitting in front of them).
Nut up and shut up.
Bring a writing utensil. You don't want to be that guy.

If someone hurts you, don't talk to them, don't stay in contact, avoid producing and saying anything that might become material for them to use against you.

Haha no. You're told the exact opposite at university. You only need to write down the key points in tutorials, and you barely need to write at all during lectures.
