My family lineage goes back to 12th and 13th century Germany where they were glassblowers and glass workers. They made Stained glass windows for castles and cathedrals. in the 19th century, one of their glass factory's exploded and rained molten glass into a nearby lake in New York. Ever since, the lake has been known as Glass Lake.

1 - One of my grand-grand-grand-etc fathers was one of the biggest men that has ever lived in Norway. (Can't remember his name right now, will update post if I do) 2 - My sister was once the babysitter for the daughter of some semi-famous guy called Lars Monsen. He's pretty much the Bear Grylls of Norway, but better. (Because no camera crew) 3 - My sister also once managed to send a helium balloon straight in the face of the goddamn queen of Norway. 4 - I'm the 7'th Paul in a row my family. 5 - The last legal execution to have ever been commited in Norway happened right behind our previous house. Also, some guy I knew named Carl (which lives somewhere else) turned out to be the decendant of the guy that performed the execution. The world is small sometimes... 6 - My father once got caught smuggling 1,1 tons of "haddock" (a kind of fish) into Norway, despite the fact that we're a god damn fishing nation. There's a lot of people who are related to Winston Churchill in this thread. They should all meet up and see if they're distant cousins or something.
My Great Grandfather fought for the United States in World War 2. My friend's Grandfather fought for the Nazi's (not the german's, he was literally a nazi) in World War 2.
My maternal great-grandfather claimed to be some kind of cousin to Dan Andersson, but seeing that he both is from that side of the family and is a forest finn I've been told to take that claim with extreme skepticism.
My father's grandfather died before he was born and both my grandfathers died before I was born.
- My great-grandfather was mayor somewhere in Norway until he died of a heartattack. - I'm the 2nd Jonas in our family history. - I'm part Swedish. - My dad's cousin is Lars Monsen ( sort of the Norwegian version of Les Stroud). - My aunt is a very good friend of a famous Norwegian author, Jo Nesbø. - My sister is a friend of Tore Renberg's (another famous Norwegian author) niece.

I'm a VERY distant family member of Felipe González Márquez, the biggest idiot to ever step on Spain. GOD DAMN IT.
My grandfather was a succesful saboteur during WWII, and has appeared on many documentaries about the german occupation of Denmark. He has also been in Gestapo's custody once. My grandmother still plays Mario on her GameBoy Color, and has done so for years. My dads sister is a semi-famous actress (a.k.a. known on national basis, but not international basis). My dad is one of the main developers on the worlds most used/known wind atlas reading/generating program. My uncle is a photographer in Manhattan, and his wife is a writer on Conde Nast, a magazine based in Times Square, where she works. A dear friend of our family was originally supposed to be on the flight that destroyed WTC. My godmother and her husband make all their food from the bottom. As we speak, I'm OmNomNom'ing a delicious creme bruleé that she made. That's all i guess. [editline]5th March 2011[/editline] Oh, and a little thread i made ages ago might have given Garry the idea for ToyBox
A bunch of my relatives served in different wars. (WW2, Korea, Vietnam) None did anything really remarkable though, or not that I know of, only one is still alive, my grandfather. I have a pretty boring family, most are mechanics.
