It's hard to sleep without a cold water bottle or ice pack on my neck. It's fucking soothing as hell.
If I'm not too tired, it takes me three hours to sleep. Takes a long while for me to actually sleep for some reason. Fun story, a couple of days ago I slept at 12:30,later woke up and realised I slept for 12 hours. :v:
I find it vary difficult to get a goodnight's sleep if I dont have a smoke before I go to bed
absolute silence would be preferable but i can't ever get to sleep without like 5lbs of blankets ontop of me also i think because ive had people walk into my dorm room before by accident now i can't like get to sleep without checking all the doors to make sure they are locked
I have to listen to either Tim Hecker or Oneohtrix Point Never stuff or I just can't sleep. :v: I honestly don't know why.
I had a certain period in which I would get random instances of noticeable paranoia and fear (with no apparent source) at about 3 am or so (if I did not sleep), forcing me to turn on the light, lock the door, and just sit in the center of my bed for a while until it was gone. I am 21 and I still do not feel comfortable with sleeping in complete darkness, it leaves way too much to the imagination. Especially when I stumbled upon a certain curse related creepypasta a while ago, and I am still kind of paranoid about the fucking thing stalking me. It's definitely scarier than I make it sound, it was some seriously good shit.
Do weird sleep schedules count? If I don't have stuff forcing me to wake up the next day, both going to bed and waking up the next day are really hard. In the past I've somewhat frequently gone to bed as late as 8 in the morning and woken up as late as like 6 at night (maybe later, but I can't remember any specific instances). I haven't had it quite that bad in awhile, but I've still got difficulty with establishing a sensible schedule.
I read FP before I go to bed. Seriously.
I occasionally hear voices and conversations in my head before I actually fall asleep, you know that period where you aren't quite asleep yet but you're not really conscious, along with other audio hallucinations.
I read before I go to sleep. Reading makes me sleepy.
I always need my cup of water since I have sinus problems and can't breathe through my nose while sleeping most of the time, keeps my mouth from drying out.
I have to see a single post in the Space Engineers thread, if I don't I don't fall asleep that day ( I go past midnight for the most part )
i only started doing it a few weeks ago, and i haven't written anything legible so far sorry
About the same time I started a dream journal. I write stuff down when I wake up and suddenly I can remember so much more. Makes me feel inspired about creative stuff.
I read FP before I go to bed. Seriously.
Facepunch is the last thing I see before going to sleep and the first thing I hop on when waking.
I browse message boards for a minimum of 20 minutes prior to sleep, or until I catch up with all threads I have interest in. I grab my notepad and write out a list of things I want to get done the next day, carrying over anything from the list of the current day if those didn't get completed. Computer is left on, allowing my room to be lit by some LEDs and having some white noise from the fans. I stuff a pair of pajama pants inside my pajama pants because fuck clothes designers that assume tall people are also fat. It helps keep them on while I sleep, because somehow I still manage to kick them off by morning. I masturbate until satiated or until mild dissatisfaction is achieved. I pass out hugging a blanket that I rolled up into the shape of a burrito because I'm too cheap to buy a hug pillow.
if i ever want to go to sleep i always fucking spend 45 minutes flipping my pillows around. i need my pillow cold.

I like sleeping without any lights on. I have to have my window open(even in the -30 degree winters here in Vermont) so I can watch the moon/stars, it's just really relaxing to me and one of the things I miss most about having perfect vision :( Also one time I discovered having my nuts rubbed/tickled will put me to sleep in a matter of seconds. My ex girlfriend discovered that trick by accident. Me: Hey babe, want to fool around? Her: No, I want to read. Me: But whhhyyyy? Her: *secret technique* Me: *Ze Ze Ze* :/
I think after years of anxiety about sleep and general insomnia, I've fallen into a system whereby often I'll just stay up until I literally can't stay awake any longer, then I'll crawl into bed and be asleep immediately, whether I'm still in my jeans/the light is on/etc or not. It's probably not the healthiest way to deal with insomnia! [editline]27th January 2014[/editline]
I sleep with a skull on my bedside. Then I do that awkward panicked half-run down the hallway and the leap through my door before I shut it quickly behind me. I also, until a couple of years ago, had a habit of pulling the covers up over the back of my head and neck so only my face was sticking out and sleeping like that. Also not feeling safe/comfortable unless I had my back to the wall

Also not feeling safe/comfortable unless I had my back to the wall
I get both of these too. In particular the last one, I don't feel safe without my back to a wall and also if I don't have a sheet or blanket over me. I can't sleep without one over me. Also I need my bedroom door, wardrobe door and blinds shut for the same reasons as above or I won't be able to get to sleep at all.
If I'm sleeping on my side (which is what I usually do) and wearing shorts I have to have the sheet or duvet in between my two legs. I can't sleep with my legs together, it just gets all sweaty and weird.
I have to do my physical routine every night (push-ups and back area exercises; had problems with my back in the past) before going to the shower and going to bed. This routine includes listening to my "pump up playlists" including artists like Kanye West, Santigold or... Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I also never get into bed before midnight. Sometimes I really like to sleep in the "armadillo" position (oddly rolled into a ball shape).
I can only fall asleep by laying completely still, absolutely straight and counting, also listening to something like a song or Youtube video. I usuallyfall asleep when I count to 50 or something.
In high school I would sometimes sleep walk into the shower. The water would wake me up and then, not thinking about how I got in the shower in the first place, I would just continue with my morning routine like nothing was wrong. It was only until I was waking out the door to my car to drive to school did I realize it was 3am.
I will snuggle with you until you fall asleep.
lol, I made myself sound like such a girly damsel in distress, I appreciate it though
Sometimes when I go to the bathroom (etc) at night, I manage to convince that panic/survival bit of my brain that something is watching me, even know the logical part of me knows it's irrational. I always ran up the stairs even if i smashed my toes on the stairs because i was afraid to get caught and be dragged into the cellar by something hellish creature. Luckily my toes weren't permanently damaged by the stairs from all those times i ran up it.
I can't sleep with my back facing the door because I think that someone would come and stab me to death.
gotta have a source of light and sound. cant sleep in total darkness/silence, otherwise I start thinking about stuff and then cant sleep...
Strange habit? Okay. I'll randomly wake up at night, around 3AM or so, but it won't be a conscious realisation yet that I'm awake (halfway between awake and asleep). When I finally realise that I am actually awake, I will be in the middle of full-on humping the bed. And I can't get back to sleep until I finish the job, which can normally take half an hour to an hour. And this is a pretty frequent thing as well.
If I had five dollars to pointlessly spend, this would be your title.
Look at you guys with normal sleep patterns. I have a rare sleep disorder called "Non 24 hour sleep wake disorder" or if you wish "Free Running" Basically my sleep patterns never stay at one spot, some people might go to bed at 12:00 AM and wake up at 8:00 AM. Me? It doesn't work like that, it goes like this. Day 1 - Bed: 11:00 PM. Wake: 8:30 AM. Day 2 - Bed: 11:45 PM. Wake: 11:00 AM. Day 3 - Bed: 12:00 AM. Wake: 12:00 PM. Day 4 - Bed: 1:00 AM. Wake: 2:30 PM. Day 5 - Bed: 2:00 AM. Wake: 3:00 PM. I wake up at 3 PM till about I go to bed at 8 in the morning, then it goes to about 6 PM. Then 7 PM, all the way around the clock, back to Day 1's time. Have had this since 09, we tried everything, even tablets, nothing works. Also I get tired a lot due to this at night, so it changes the time I wake up aswell. Anyway my habit is this, I think to myself about cool stuff I did today, maybe I give an opinion on a game, maybe do some maths (since I am not good with maths, its rewarding when I get it right). It really makes it fun, I also like to sleep on hard matresses, with the light off. I can have little LED lights on and sleep, and sleep on a soft matress but I prefer hard matresses. I used to sleep with 2 pillows, then 2 pillows + an arm under my head, now I sleep with 1 Pillow + an arm under my head. I sleep with a bit of the covers off of one leg (sometimes), and I can sleep with it being quiet but I get use to sleeping with sounds on after a couple of nights doing it. Then it is hard not to.
I can't sleep in total darkness or silence. I sleep with a fan on and some dim LED lights as well as the light from the streetlights outside.
This all the way.
