What environmental problem? Our biology hasn't changed radically in the past 5,000 or so years.
Our farm animals is the cause of 1/3 of all global warming, and that is a fact you cannot deny.
I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm not a dick about it to anyone who is.
I hate when vegetarians get all preachy though and start telling me how much Jesus loves that cow in my burger or some bullshit.

Except for the fact that global warming is a total farce.
Though, I will agree with you that the meat industry is bad for the environment. If I remember right, the main cause of deforestation is to create grazing land for cows and other livestock.
The thing I hate most about these thread on Facepunch is that a lot of people say they don't have a problem with vegetarians so long as they don't preach to others - which it fair enough.
But then some people go on and post pictures of dead animals and say how dumb it is to be a vegetarian etc etc as if that makes them better than the vegetarians that preach.

And power plants, factories and travel are the other 2/3 of global warming. Are you going to give up using cars, computers, planes, anything made of metal or plastic? If not your arguement holds no weight because you really don't give a fuck and are using it as a flimsy excuse.
And if you did give all modern conveniences up you'd sure as shit start eating meat again, because there's fuck all enegery in plants. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Also it would be more efficient using these fields for food. In fact, so efficient that we wouldn't have any problems with people hungering in the world. Except for the circulation of food, it is amazing how much food we waste by throwing out or not eating.

Well, I've thought about becoming minimalistic on those other two thirds. But if i can remove 1/3 of my carbon footprint, why shouldn't I? I'm not doing anything wrong by not eating meat, so i don't get what you're going on about.
I have a question for you "vegetarians", would you eat meat when we start growing it in laboratories?
Vegetarian since I was 5, only one in my family.
I'm not one, and I'm proud of it. I want my cheezburghers!
I have a question for you "vegetarians", would you eat meat when we start growing it in laboratories?
I love meat and frankly that sounds disgusting.
I love meat and frankly that sounds disgusting.
How that?
Ah damn, I didn't think of that, sorry, i don't think I can add the option, but a mod could.
[editline]05:03PM[/editline]
Probably does. But I don't think we should have pet's in the first place. Also it sounds strange for me that a person that cares about animals would keep one as their... Pet...
I know it happens a lot, and under some circumstances it's fine, but under others it isn't.
Animals are domesticated for a reason. If you think about it, we pretty much domesticated our selves. We don't have neanderthal bodies anymore. Domestication is a form of evolution, it pretty much removes a lot of your natural defenses.
 Meat

Well, you see you're NOT cutting out 1/3 of your carbon emissions. You think plants grow and harvest themselves? Did you know a lot of forest areas are cut down for wheat production? Yes you are cutting it down and yes meat production is pollutive, but even if that's thae case it's not cutting out 1/3 of your carbon footprint. Maybe 1/6, maybe.
And if love for the environment is your main concern why not switch to renewable energy? Why not use energy efficient light bulbs? Why not walk or take public transport rather than your car? Buy local produce?
Saving carbon emissions means fuck all if you're in America and your wheat comes from France. There's so much more you can do than going vegetarian to help the planet. And before you ask, yes I do do all those things I listed.

Homo Sapiens are NOT decended from Neanderthals. So, no, we wouldn't have Neanderthal bodies.
[editline]07:53PM[/editline]
Also, we're larger and stronger now than we were when Neanderthals walked the Earth. Quite a bit larger.

So do i. Also if it's still only 1/6 that's a lot. I live in Denmark by the way.

And I live in Ireland, it was just an example. Also, you don't need a reason to not eat meat, I'm just questioning the reasons you've put forward.
