An attempt to make the weapon lighter I guess?
Rovar, can you make an animation with this gun?

I thought this was the PMG thread, not Rovar Requests Thread

it's a gun.

If you want a gun animated, throw me a request through PM. I'll look into it then see if it can be animated.
Also, if you want me to animate a gun, I will need the original code. Just a picture of the gun won't do it.
...or just publicly post the link to the program you are using, so that they can find out how hard and how long time it takes to make a smooth, proper animation for a PMG-made weapon.
Animating takes no work at all, the hard part is rendering all the pieces properly.
I'll post a tutorial I guess.

please do
wait that was a joke?
i genuinely thought he was an arrogant asshole
He genuinely was, I'm referring to people parodying him.
First you will need this:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/14447601/Pivot-3-beta/
That is your animating program. (It's very buggy, and your original .piv file will most likely get corrupt easily, but this is the only version that supports sprite import features. Other ones are out there, but Pivot is extremely user-friendly and easy to use.)
http://www.dotpdn.com/files/Paint.NET.3.5.8.Install.zip
This is what you need to render the gun.
MSPaint.
Every Windows comes with this. If you are running a Mac, use whatever is most like it.
Next, you will need your PMG weapon that you want to animate. Open it, get the gun ready inside just how you want the base (The standard idle weapon position) to look. Make sure to keep the original base Export file. If you mess up, just re-import the original base file.
Once you have the base, you will need to export the pieces of the gun into a file that can be animated.
These are the pieces that will be needed. All guns that have moving parts will need their own animation. These pieces will be saved as .bmp because that's what Pivot will open the sprite as. (Normally with rifles and shotguns etc, this is the case.)
Save the corresponding name with the piece after it has been rendered.
- Base (The standard gun with no moving slides, bolts, mags, anything)
- Base - Bolt Back (The bolt will be moved back with no rounds in it)
- Base - Bolt Back - No Clip (The exact same thing above only the magazine will not be in)
- Base - No Clip (The same as base, with no magazine though)
- Base - Bolt Back - Round in (This will be used when you put in a new magazine and cock the gun)
- Base - Firing (Put the muzzle flash on the end of the gun, this is the firing animation and should be used for most likely just 1 frame)
- Mag (The magazine used)
- Mag - Empty (The empty discarded magazine)
- Round (This can be used however the gun works)
- Shell (Obviously when the gun is shot, this will fly out)
Next this is where Paint.net comes in. Put all the pieces you've just exported to .bmp on one page in MSPaint. Then, copy and paste this on the canvas (Drawing area) of Paint.net. Select the Magic Wand Tool and select the Tolerance to about 10% - 20%. Then, click on all white background parts. This will get rid of the "Pimp My Gun" watermark. Once this is finished, copy and paste all the pieces back into a MSPaint file.
Save the pieces separately now (As the bolded names above for the correct piece) in .bmp format. Before you save though, make a new folder with your gun pieces in My Pictures. This will prevent losing them if you have a lot of files or plan to do more to keep it organized.
Once you have them saved, open up Pivot 3.0 Beta. Import all the files onto the stage (Animating area) and you're done. Note that once you delete them off the stage and you haven't animated before it will ask you if you want to remove it from the list. Just click no.
Once you are done animating it. Save it as a .piv file. Then save it again as a .gif file. Check off Merge, set Super Sample to 4, and resize to 50%. This will hopefully give you the best quality.
Upload to imageflock.com.
If you have any questions, PM me. Do NOT post on the thread.
Wait, you use pivot? No wonder why you called it crappy.

Bingo. Too lazy to make a flash tutorial, and most people don't have flash and it's too big of a file to download relatively easily on the spot.
Yes, but you can edit, animate and render the weapon in one program through and it has a timeline.
Yes, but you can edit, animate and render the weapon in one program through and it has a timeline.
I've heard that the program Stykz gets the best of both worlds. Timeline, on-stage editing, rendering, you name it. It all has that with simplicity of Pivot.
EDIT: Not to mention, it imports .stk and .piv files.
Except .stk and .piv files are specifically used for pivot which means they are not a popular format at all.
how did this suddenly turn into "How to animate guns"?
Except .stk and .piv files are specifically used for pivot which means they are not a popular format at all.
.piv .gif conversions are still popular is some places. Regardless, Pivot is Pivot. It's the MSPaint of animating programs.
Some bastard carbine I made
