There's the occasional serious bent on one subject (such as net censorship etc) but usually general opinion is middle of the road. The problem is that what is discussed on the forum is usually based around a few key subjects that people care enough to post about. Which means we know facepunch is generally mixed on those, but we have no idea about others because they never come up. So is it centrist? dunno, maybe. probably.

Not even making any of these up, all of these are legit points people make in sensationalist headlines. The Transgender one disgusts me especially because they'll PRAISE a video on how offensiveness is a good thing and how it can socially move people forward (like how gay rights was "offensive" to others) but then when a transgender person wants to use the restroom of their choosing they say "uhm, people might be too bothered by that! People shouldn't have to put up with this" which has been a point used by conservatives since forever against gays, against blacks, and against other oppressed minorities.
basically reddit and facepunch are only progressive when it benefits them

again ignoring the fact that people have a variety of complex views that don't 100% tow your little party line, someone can be a democrat and not always agree with democrats, same with republicans, libertarians, etc...

Where's the contradiction? Even if one wasn't some "god all politicians are the exact same" type I'd be pretty shocked if they couldn't notice how conservative many democrat politicians really are.

The problem with the transgender locker rooms is that it leaves room for abuse. A boy, with a penis, could simply walk into a highschool girl's locker room and strip naked while all the girls are stripping naked. If they say they're transgender, who's to say that they're not?
I think there should be a "family changing room" as they call it at public pools. Where I worked had that; a unisex locker room with individual changing rooms.
But I don't think someone should get to use the girl's locker room because they just want to.

I'm generally on the conservative side of the gun control debate, yet when it comes to most other things I disagree. The most I'd support is mandatory background/mental health checks when purchasing a firearm, but regulations concerning firearm modifications and accessories are a massive waste of time and effort considering the media frenzy has been all about "shoulder things that go up", ""high capacity" magazines", "assault weapons" etc, which are essentially non-factors in firearms-related homicides.
You don't have to be unequivocally liberal to be liberal - and those lines are pretty dumb since they only work in an American reference frame. Denmark is incredibly liberal on many points, but then we also have stuff like this on National Television that the US would never dream of doing:
