Your judging American design by some of the worst years in automotive design history, k
American design? Really? The Pontiac GTO was designed and built in Australia. It's merely a Holden Monaro, itself a two-door variant of a Holden Commodore, given a nose job and with the steering wheel on the other side. If anything, I'm criticising Australian design of the time period, because although the initial V2 series of domestic models looked clean, Holden and HSV later did to the VZ series what they did to the Pontiac GTO. Something which I mentioned in my post that you quoted. They even did it to some of the Monaros which were exported to the UK as Vauxhalls.
So if I were you, I'd withhold those dumb ratings.

This moronic warship of a coupe - the 1972 Imperial Lebaron. 20 feet long, 7 feet wide, almost 5000 pounds, with a 440 cu engine (over 7 liters for metric folks). 10.4 very comfortable miles per gallon.
While Brits were having an oil crisis, this dumb ass thing ruled the roads in America and I love it. It's the truly sickeningly sweet last gasp of quality American automotive engineering at the doorstep of the emissions and safety regulations that would soon force American automakers to make sensible cars instead of these monstrosities.

It actually doesn't look bad. One of the better looking American cars of the time.
Oh no, it's a gorgeous car, just retardedly huge :v:
I would love a Delorean but that's been craved to death by everyone.
So why not something that has a slight resemblance like the Nissan Pulsar NX with the sportback cap?

It's a VW vehicle but in Canada they were manufactured by UTDC/Bombardier. About ten years ago you could buy one surplus form the DND for about $4K-$6K what was well maintained. These days they are owned by car collectors and military nuts who demand no less than $12000 for the fuckers.
i don't care about how rare this car is, it's still my favorite impreza and will always be

Just keep it stock, at least externally. They look great but still classy. It's hard to find an unmolested Silvia though.
Also a Mazda RX-8. Some people don't like how it looks, but once you get to know them, they're lovely. And then there's the engine. Dorito powered goodness.

And the doors are special too. Rear suicide doors. When closed they are almost hidden, but they reveal two seats in the back. Perfect for war veterans and small kids.
The RX-8 had an alarm built into it's dashboard. If you're approaching redline, it alerts with a small beep. This is because it climbs in RPM so smoothly, most people didn't realize they were already approaching 9k.
They're also one of the best handling cars in the world, right next to the RX-7 FD.

Before I got my BF Falcon XR6, I was actually contemplating an RX-8; they can be found for around $10,000 here. Ultimately I decided not to, after I read about the difficulties and expense in maintaining a Wankel rotary engine, and it just seemed like too much of a hassle.
Kind of a twist on the thread, but here were other cars that I realistically would have bought if I hadn't have bought my XR6:
Alfa Romeo GT with the V6 engine. Decided not to buy it, because a second-hand Alfa doesn't spark much confidence in reliability (not even a brand new Alfa does, either):
[t]http://images.parkers.bauercdn.com/pagefiles/196133/driving-moving-exterior/082541100_1221130075.jpg[/t]
Nissan V35 Skyline 350GT. Was a hair's width away from buying one, until I realised that the 350GT was specifically singled out on a list of banned six-cylinder-powered cars for provisional drivers (alongside Porsches, TVRs etc), as I was at the time. Also, the insurance would have been deadly anyways.
[t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e4/NISSAN_SKYLINE_COUPE_V35.jpg/1280px-NISSAN_SKYLINE_COUPE_V35.jpg[/t]
I also contemplated a Nissan R33 Skyline GTS, where relatively clean examples can be found for around $8,000 here. Another car I looked at was a Honda DC5 Integra Type-S. But like the 350GT, insurance was either insane or I was refused quotes.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Twice I came across some dirt cheap European sports cars - a Porsche 944 and a V12 Jag XJ-S. But dirt cheap and European is never a good combination.
The mk III supras are

Mazda RX-7 (FB) is the only rotary I wouldn't mind owning.

It looks so fucking good from every single angle, one of my favorite cars from the late 70's.
a fairly realistic dream car for me is a nissan 240sx

apparently i have an affinity for angular sports cars with squarish rear ends and pop-up headlights
Mazda RX-7 (FB)
i saw one of these parked while walking around a sorta dumpy-ass industrial/dock area. silver, a little rusty but still looked good. i hope the owner had some sort of late-night job around there or left it there for some other reason and it wasn't abandoned

where twingo?
2000 Land Rover Discovery if I didn't have to pay for gas or maintenance.
Alternatively, a Jeep Wrangler with the Jurassic Park livery.

I had one of these in black with tan leather and the 18" Jetfin wheels. It wasn't reliable. It cost me so much money I had to sell it to recoup some of the repair costs.
But trust me, you messed up - that damn car's the best thing I've ever owned. Not mine, but:
[IMG_thumb]https://drpianale.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/b4ee78d251fb6838167ef179236c1f141.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
Most entertaining and charismatic car I've ever owned, too. Engine sounded and looked like sex. Fast, pretty; surprisingly economical and practical too. It's still pretty much my dream car. I'm currently debating whether or not I should buy another V6 Alfa. I have a 159 at the moment but I need that Busso back in my life somehow.
Also RX8s are stupid cheap here in the UK. People are afraid of the Rotary so you can get a runner for as little as £1500.

JZX100 Toyota Chaser. Not because it's a JZ-powered rear-drive late '90s luxo-missile, but because it has the best name of any car ever.

8G Mitsubishi Galant VR4. Basically an Evo 6 with a Twin-Turbo 2.5 V6. Furious looking machine. Had a basic 2.0 version until recently, always wanted the VR4.

'70 Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird. One of the most ridiculous homologation cars ever made. Huge, thirsty and only available in Skittles colours. Still want one.

C110 'Kenmeri' Nissan Skyline. Prettier than the Hakosuka to my eyes, although it's very similar mechanically. I'd have a GTR clone on Hayashi Street wheels with an enlarged L-series motor fed by triple Webers. Mmmmm.

E39 M5. The best car BMW has ever made (ignoring the E46 M3). Nobody makes a V8 that sounds like this; a sort of muffled, metallic rasp. My dream daily.

The Supra in his picture was a 3rd generation. The one in yours is a 2nd generation. Those are even cooler in terms of looks. 3.5k is a steal. If I the money, I'd fly to Slovenia and drive it home and probably repair it along the way a few times.
