from reading the OP, I'm not sure what kind of backlash I'm expecting, but what's you guys' opinion on Naruto?
You didn't read the OP, did you?
So basically you watch shit like Dragonballz, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Gundam and Sailor Moon? I would love nothing more than to say that everyone here in this thread hates all of those.
I just assume you guys don't put every anime that is like that into one category and call it shit but then again, worse things have happened. like dragon ball gt
You didn't read the OP, did you?
sailor moon is incredible though so obviously dgg just has bad taste in everything and we should get the opinions of sensible posters such as myself when it comes to deciding which animes are shit
sailor moon is incredible though so obviously dgg just has bad taste in everything and we should get the opinions of sensible posters such as myself when it comes to deciding which animes are shit
Disagree Half-Agree (even dgg says good stuff sometimes) Agree The best way to gauge popular opinion is to look at the majority of avatars. Chuu-2 is this seasons premium.
I watch Dragonball Z and Pokemon dubbed. also Yu-Gi-Oh
I just assume you guys don't put every anime that is like that into one category and call it shit but then again, worse things have happened. like dragon ball gt
I don't know if you noticed it but Naruto is specifically mentioned. So I dunno what makes you think Naruto wouldn't be included? Also the reason it says "I would love nothing more than to say" is of course because some people here like it. Fucking heretics.
Shinsekai Yori is really shaping up to be a strong contender of "best anime 2012." Everyone should watch it.
I wouldn't say Sailor Moon is incredible, but it is pretty good.
sailor moon is hands down the best anime released before 2000

I like it. and I don't like many shows, I haven't seen much anime though so I'm not sure, maybe ignorance is bliss?
maybe ignorance is bliss?
Keep watching that shit so the day that you suddenly get a better taste in anime, you'll realise how wrong you were. I watched EVERY episode of One Piece, Naruto and Pokemon then I discovered this thread. I felt like a fucking retard. Good anime should actually give you an emotional reaction other than childish joy. Jump into that OP and watch the stuff on it. Start with Code Geass (my recommendation)

I really wish there was a word I can use to describe those animes (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece).

I don't get the emotional reaction of childish joy from it, it's just an enjoyable show. I' thinking of watching Cowboy Bebop after hearing all the good things about it.
Shinsekai Yori is really shaping up to be a strong contender of "best anime 2012."
Except most of the first few episodes were absolute shit, so it's kind of exempt from that nomination.

Getting yelled at for watching that crap was possibly the most beneficial thing that has happened to me on Facepunch so far. You can describe those anime as "Mainstream".
How can you be wrong about something you enjoy? Because there are better things, that means you can't enjoy it? Watch Cowboy Bebop. It's awesome.

Naruto and those other shows will go on for another 500 episodes. Cowboy Bebop, in my opinion, is amazing. Even if it's been overplayed, I still love it. Shinichiro Watanabe really knew how to fuse the music with the anime. I'd rather watch it over 50 times than watch a season of Naruto. Plus '90's animes are awesome.
You can describe those anime as "Mainstream".
I have a problem with saying that because people would call me a hipster and just because it's mainstream doesn't mean it's bad.
The Big 3 is what they're usually called
I had forgotten that they called them that. Thanks for reminding me :v:
I really wish there was a word I can use to describe those animes (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece).
Entry-level shonen shit? [editline]10th December 2012[/editline] That description applies to a lot more than those three, though.
Entry-level shonen shit?
Gateway drug :v:
Hey man Naruto was great when I was 10
I'll admit the first couple of episodes of naruto were pretty decent but then by around the 7th episode or so it started taking itself too seriously and started focusing on the action more than the relationships between the characters and it just went downhill from there
I'll admit the first couple of episodes of naruto were pretty decent but then by around the 7th episode or so it started taking itself too seriously and started focusing on the action more than the relationships between the characters and it just went downhill from there
It could have been great if they condensed it into two 25 episode seasons. That's 95% of the crap gone.
I only managed to get about 20 episodes in before I realized it had absolutely no chance of picking itself back up, the show was legitimately abysmal past around the 15th episode
I only managed to get about 20 episodes in before I realized it had absolutely no chance of picking itself back up, the show was legitimately abysmal past around the 15th episode
It needed more clever episodes, something to make you think. The exam was probably the highlight of the entire series. Fuck, I think in an attempt to bitch about Naruto we accidentally started a discussion. :suicide:
I watched them as a kid and they were dubbed and also, (in the case of naruto and one piece) censored, so I thought they were just cartoons, so I call them cartoons. [editline]10th December 2012[/editline] same as Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragonball Z and pretty much every anime that was aired on any sort of children's show over here.
The Big 3 is what they're usually called
not anymore bleach retired from that some time ago
not anymore bleach retired from that some time ago
TTGL can take its place then.
I only managed to get about 20 episodes in before I realized it had absolutely no chance of picking itself back up, the show was legitimately abysmal past around the 15th episode
ihuh I'm at episode 14, i honestly don't see it getting bad in 1 episode
not anymore bleach retired from that some time ago
It finished back in March, thank god. [editline]10th December 2012[/editline]
TTGL can take its place then.
Death Note maybe.
TTGL can take its place then.

Death Note maybe.
What are you guys even talking about? His point is that Bleach stopped airing back in March. One Piece and Naruto on the other hand is still airing.
Except most of the first few episodes were absolute shit, so it's kind of exempt from that nomination.
Which is why I said "shaping up to be"? Which implies that it's getting a lot better. And even then you can't fault the very first few episodes that much. They were introductory episodes, plus lines of thought that were brought up in them are being tied together to what's going on right now. Though I won't deny that the [sp]queerat arc was really engaging.[/sp]
