it's worse than that, [sp]he's doing the same thing he did when he first got dream crushed except this time he finally cracked. he's super jealous of mashiro being able to pursue her own dreams with her own effort (and now almost effortlessly too, since she has more time to do things like cook) whereas he's stuck with nothing despite all the effort he puts in. he's getting angry at her even though she's doing nothing wrong (she's even having trouble trying to explain her feelings for him). in fact, he's only mad because it's mashiro talking to him.[/sp]

We've all been there.
He better redeem himself in the next few episodes.

He's been a ball dropper since the start
Eventually it'll become a defining characteristic and that's not exactly something you want in a protagonist
[editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
I do applaud him for managing to fuck up the episode right after he finally does something worthwhile
Okay, it's been a very long time since I last visited the thread (about like 5 or 6 months), so I need some help.
I'm looking for an anime that is almost depressing, something that can strike emotion in me. I've watched a few too many pure-action and terrible slice-of-life anime's recently and they're all a bit too detached. Now this doesn't mean the anime can't have action in it, but what I'm really looking for is something gut-wrenching.
Please no harems/all girls or slice-of-life, I'm way done with that for a while.
[editline]1[/editline]
I hope you all don't get angry at me for asking for some suggestions. Thanks.
[editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
I'll try to find my anime list profile, but it's going to take a bit. It has been 6 months.
Ironically, Clannad is the best of both
I watched that, dropped it ASAP. Something unnaturally creepy is going on with that show. I don't know why that is, but the show scares me.
also: http://myanimelist.net/profile/ForgottenKane
It doesn't list everything apparently, but it has most of it.
[editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
what the fuck why are those animes in my favorites
i dont remember two of those
obligatory steins;gate recommendation
And I immediately get dumbs because I have an opinion, great.
obligatory steins;gate recommendation
Watched it, liked it. Not amazing, but it was fun.

[sp]Not yet anyway, he's going to really screw things up when he feels guilty about yelling at Shiia. Which wll prompt him to break his promise with Nanami to go see her and apologize (who might not even talk with Sorata now, thus losing the chance with both of them.)[/sp] Calling it now.
Yeah, you're getting dumbs because you dropped Clannad and didn't think Steins;Gate was amazing, while giving DBZ a 10/10
Once again, opinions. 'You don't like what I like; therefor you're dumb'
And I rated DBZ 10/10 because I watched it a very long time ago. It was the very first anime I ever saw. It's almost nostalgic for me.

Naruto, One Piece and Pokemon 10/10 because nostalgia.

Okay, after looking at your list and what you've rated, I still have no idea what I could even recommend you. What is gut-wrenching for you could be absolutely hilarious for me, because i'm far too cynical for my own good.
But from what I can tell you're mostly just looking for non moeshit/shounen anime, so here's a few that you may or may not be what you're looking for:
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Last Exile

Uchuu Kyoudai
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica (do not be fooled by it's appearance)

Texhnolyze
Planetes isn't gut wrenching but it is a damn good watch. It becomes more of a drama as the series progresses, and it's also got a refreshing adherence to actual science and physics that you don't normally see in sci fi.
[editline]9th January 2013[/editline]
I recommend Paranoia Agent, Monster or Neon Genesis Evangelion. NGE's probably the closest you'll come to gut wrenching, while Monster's a psychological thriller with some great atmosphere, same with Paranoia Agent.
Paranoia Agent also has one of my favourite sets of OP and ED just because of how offbeat and sinister they are.
Gaki no Tsukai 2012 new year's batsu game is currently being subbed. This time they're working as school teachers.
It's going to take a few months though and ShinbataBread isn't doing subs.
These awesome guys are subbing it and releasing it in 30 minute parts. They even got the first part out.

I've watched a lot more than what's on that list, that was just what I was watching 6 months ago from what one of my gay friends was suggesting. Yeah, now that I look, it shows :v:
One example of what I'd like to see is like Cowboy Bebop. That ending was absolutely spectacular.
[editline]9th January 2013[/editline]
And I've already seen all of the one's you listed, liked all of them. Just haven't put them on the list.

Holy shit, I remember Paranoia Agent. It's been years since I last saw that show. Definitely re-watching, thanks for bringing that up again.
And no matter how I try I still can't for the life of my understand NGE's plot. It feels like the entire writer and animator staff was on LSD when making that show.
