How do I become anime? :o
First comes the offering, you must kill a virgin baka-gaijin on an altar made of old anime VHS's then mummify the body. Then comes the purification and affirmation of vows. Use the mummy as a dakimakura while you watch thousand episodes of the Big Three. Between each episode you must whip yourself ten times while chanting "I shall never speak well of the unholy trinity" Take the mummified gaijin virgin back to altar and burn it along with the blood-stained whip as a sign of you giving up important things like friends and sunlight. Kiss the feet of the neckbeard weaboo (consider him the anime counterpart of a priest) attending the ritual and he shall offer you some curtains so that you shall never be distracted from your anime by the outside world. I don't think these other guys went through that procedure but I'm pretty sure it's what old man Osamu Tezuka would want. EDIT:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/JptHs.jpg[/t]
Thank you Joppu, this image demonstrates the correct way to hold a knife when sacrificing gaijins.
I now see why Sorata is public enemy #1. [sub][sub][sub]what a douchebag[/sub][/sub][/sub]
Sorata simply misdirected [sp]his anger out on Shiia because his dreams were crushed, and she happened to be the wrong person at the wrong time[/sp]. I see no reason to hate him because of this, since it's a humane thing to do.
it's worse than that, [sp]he's doing the same thing he did when he first got dream crushed except this time he finally cracked. he's super jealous of mashiro being able to pursue her own dreams with her own effort (and now almost effortlessly too, since she has more time to do things like cook) whereas he's stuck with nothing despite all the effort he puts in. he's getting angry at her even though she's doing nothing wrong (she's even having trouble trying to explain her feelings for him). in fact, he's only mad because it's mashiro talking to him.[/sp]

Yes, but no. [sp]His efforts aren't good enough yet, it makes him frustrated and jealous of Mashiro who is succesful, she had some bad timing and got yelled at, all that anger was directed at himself and not Mashiro. Mashiro cooking isn't the problem, Mashiro not spending her time working on her art like she did is the problem, he wants the old Mashiro back, the girl who would devote her life to art and depend on others to help her live. His reactions to her cooking is that he doesn't understand why she wants to cook when he already knows she's hopeless at it (since she's hopeless at anything that isn't making art). He's not angry at Mashiro, he's angry at himself because he wants to be like Mashiro. It's pretty common that people let out their frustrations with themselves on others, especially if they are what they want to be. Jealousy usually involves hatred, but hatred isn't jealousy.[/sp]
I'm looking for an anime that is almost depressing, something that can strike emotion in me. I've watched a few too many pure-action and terrible slice-of-life anime's recently and they're all a bit too detached. Now this doesn't mean the anime can't have action in it, but what I'm really looking for is something gut-wrenching. Please no harems/all girls or slice-of-life, I'm way done with that for a while.
Going on your "strike emotion in me" comment, I'd recommend The Tatami Galaxy. It makes me full of feelings, but it's not sad. Only 11 episodes. On the subject of people recommending Monster, I'd say that too. I'm 12 episodes from being done the whole thing. It's a really good show, though not really sad or anything? Just very good. I've got the last stretch to go though, so anything could happen. People mentioning Paranoia Agent too, that was one I was wanting to go and watch soon too. After I'm done Monster, Michiko to Hatchin and Accel World.
what is this from?
Shit anime don't bother.
Shit anime don't bother.
It isn't even that bad. Certainly not LEL GENERIC MOE HAREMSHIT like some would like you to believe.
It isn't even that bad. Certainly not LEL GENERIC MOE HAREMSHIT like some would like you to believe.
I found it really fucking generic and not worth watching unless you have a hardon helpless girls who are as stupid and thick headed as the protagonist.
Tamako Market is airing soon. You guys excited?I'm not.
I found it really fucking generic and not worth watching unless you have a hardon helpless girls who are as stupid and thick headed as the protagonist.
How many episodes did you watch? One? Because that's exactly what I was thinking after the first two episodes. It got better by a mile after those.
I liked K-On, as shallow and stupid as it was. So Tamako Market is the only thing from this season I'm sure I'll be watching. Since last season I took on a lot of shows and got a bit burnt out, I'm not looking to watch a lot this season. Though if people tell me lots of good things about other shows, I'll probably look into those too.
Okay, it's been a very long time since I last visited the thread (about like 5 or 6 months), so I need some help. [editline]8th January 2013[/editline] I'll try to find my anime list profile, but it's going to take a bit. It has been 6 months.
Grave of Fireflies is supposed to be pretty sad. I've never taken the opportunity to watch it, but it's highly regarded among critics.
How many episodes did you watch? One? Because that's exactly what I was thinking after the first two episodes. It got better by a mile after those.
I watched about 11 episodes.
Grave of Fireflies is supposed to be pretty sad. I've never taken the opportunity to watch it, but it's highly regarded among critics.
Really sad movie. Can basically be summed up as "And then it got worse." For Ghibli movies, Pom Poko is also pretty bleak and sad, but also has a lot of whimsy in it that makes it a little less painful to watch multiple times.
Sorata is a cool cat in my book.
Sorata is the best tsukkomi
Tamako Market is airing soon. You guys excited?I'm not.
if it's anywhere near the level of moeshit as K-On I'll be happy
How many episodes did you watch? One? Because that's exactly what I was thinking after the first two episodes. It got better by a mile after those.
If shit runs a mile it's still shit. The show can't decide whether it wants to be a comedy or a drama, instead it decides to fail at both. The humor isn't funny and the melodrama is frivolous and unbearable. The worst part of the show are the generic unlikable characters. The protagonist is the typical indecisive pussy, but in this case he falls in love with a retarded girl. Really? Come on. You have your typical love triangle and supporting characters who might as well not exist. But at least you have 24 episodes for some painfully long and meaningless character development. The animation is pretty decent. All in all, it's a perfectly average anime (which is bad). If I were to give it a rating, it'd be a 5 out of some higher number. Its only sin was not trying hard enough. For a teen-angst-comedy-drama, I'd rather recommend Kokoro Connect, which has actual substantial character development. But I really wouldn't recommend that either.
