I was curious about it too, only to find that the album "Un Lieu de Rencontre" does not exist, and the only artist who goes by the name of "Marilou" is a modern pop artist from Canada.
Which makes me all the more curious as to what the actual name and artist of that song are.
that was pretty elevator as well, but i was mostly talking about the background music that started ~@14:57 (if using mazui).
Alternatively, the song that started when midori's grandpa [sp]was playing with the ball/string toy[/sp]
It's not trollsubs when it's good subs.
They approximate the original Japanese dialogue while using a lot of unneeded alliteration and localized phrases. Not the kind of subs I'd watch if I want accurate translation over "good flow". gg is generally known for trying too hard to fit "epic mee mees" and other "funny" and "smart" dialogue in their subs. If I wanted to watch intentionally bad subs, I'd download DUWANG.

Will have to watch this. Only a few minutes in, and already laughed a few times. :v:
Akibaranger is a good watch even if you aren't that into sentai. Also switch over to Over-Time because TV-Nihon is notoriously bad.
I remember asking this before but, Guilty Crown is terrible right?
Deep down it's a pretty dumb show but amazingly entertaining for one. I think you should watch it regardless, just don't think too much of it. There's some great animation and amazingly good music.

Alright, just finished Ashita no Nadja

First off I managed to beat my record of most episodes watched strait, which was TTGL with 27 episodes 2 years ago, and with this I watched 37 episodes.
Anywho, it was pretty great, nice story, nice characters, nice music, and pretty decent animation, though a decent amount of cgi was in it. 9/10

I have to say, that's a pretty impressive feat from my standpoint. The most episodes I've been able to watch in one sitting is around 14-15 and that was with FMA: Brotherhood.
You are talking about watching something in a single day's worth of time, correct? 37 episodes sounds about a little more than half a day's worth of total runtime.
Okay I watched some more of Toriko, and confirmed that this show has a severe case of power inflation. He basically [sp]went kaio-ken by episode 15 (regal mammoth)[/sp].
But that's not even the best part. After I found out that Tina is an anime-only character I try to envision what the story would be like if she wasn't there. It's a pretty fun game to think up alternate ways to explain away a plot hole that could be caused by removing an otherwise useless character. And so far there hasn't been an occurrence where I couldn't think of an alternate explanation. She is a character that was more or less created to stand in the background and wear skimpy clothing; literally the definition of a fanservice character. :v:
But Terry's fight scene in episode 18 was pretty cool, and Sunny is fabulous is fuck.
Yet I don't understand why they draw komatsu as if he's ~12 years old. He's [sp]the same age as toriko[/sp] according to MAL (not sure if spoiler).

yea it's like 15 hours if you watch them back to back and don't skip the OP/ED every time.

DUWANG is intentionally bad subs, but they are also horrible at it.
GG just adds class and a lot of personality to the show. The translation isn't super accurate because it tries to keep itself in-tone with the chosen style of language, and it does so without breaking the meaning behind what they're saying.

is going on some online dictionary and looking up obscure synonyms considered class? why give it a personality it doesn't need or originally have? and it does kind of break the meaning since they use loads of words wrong
Some of you may be wondering. but I didn’t make it up. It was approximately a LS-9 translation that was perfect for the situation to describe his trollish ways. Literally, the line was “What? Don’t be mad”. It was practically begging me to do it, and I was in a group that allows such creativity, so took the opportunity. Admittedly, it interrupts the flow again, but it’s pretty much as close as it gets in terms of nuance.
I don't see this enhancing the dialogue in any meaningful way. It doesn't have anything to do with the show. It's just LE INTERBUTT MAYMAY SO FUNI ECKSDEE for the sake of it.
gg subtitles are called trollsubs for a reason.

What does Penguindrum have to do with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? I didn't say GG adds personality to all shows, I am exclusively talking about JoJo.
With regards to the Penguindrum I thought it was stupid when I saw a screenshot for it before watching the episode, but with the episode's context and audio it actually worked really well.

Because it's made up shit. They are speaking completely normal Japanese in JoJo. They aren't speaking in memespeak in Penguindrum. gg is doing a terrible job translating or "localizing", but people like you are still lauding their shit. It's your own business what sub you watch but you got to be fucking delusional if you think gg is a good choice in any way.
I'd be ashamed if I thought gimmicks like ye olde english or memes are EPIC LULZ.

Yes, they are speaking completely normal Japanese in JoJo and when did I say otherwise? I'm saying they're GIVING it a personality, it makes it a more enjoyable show and makes it properly comedical rather than being some serious shit that doesn't quite know if it actually wants to be comedical. I personally think they should have adopted a more modern language when the new arc came around, since it really only made proper sense when it was based in the 19th century, but it still adds a charm that works well together with the visual style of the show and doesn't go out over translating it correctly, it's just translated differently. Equivelant of translating someone saying "fuck" as "shit", it's different but it isn't wrong.
They didn't translate them to speaking memespeak in Penguindrum. One fucking instance throughout the whole series is absolutely nothing to cry out for and trash talk their subbing job for and saying it's trollsubs.
I'd be ashamed if I thought gimmicks like ye olde english or memes are EPIC LULZ.
No, I generally find ye olde english to be terrible, because most people just slap ye olde somethingsomething and call it a day. gg is giving it some effort.
Memes are generally terrible but I don't mind a well executed one. Like I said, I thought it was horrible to see the screenshot of Penguindrum but thought it worked really well when watching it, even though I was prepearing to cringe from it because I knew it was coming.

The language should have been modernized as they went into a more modern era, yes. But I feel it definitely fits the visual style of the show as well as all the comedic shit that's going on in a serious fashion.
is going on some online dictionary and looking up obscure synonyms considered class? why give it a personality it doesn't need or originally have? and it does kind of break the meaning since they use loads of words wrong
Subbing in an old fashioned language and sticking to it, fitting the century the show partakes in (for the first arc at the very least) is classy. I wouldn't have enjoyed JoJo as much if I was using some more serious and strict subs that would just translate it in a standard way, because that makes the whole show seem much more serious, which would ruin it. The first arc had enough problems as it was with trying to balance seriousity with comedy and it just couldn't make up it's mind, making it suffer. Had I watched that with completely serious subtitles then that arc would surely have just been terrible.
I personally feel it really needs the added personality the subs give. The same way Cromartie High School needs bad english dubs to be funny.
dgg ur wrong
I'm saying they're GIVING it a personality, it makes it a more enjoyable show.
Well, yeah, just like watching a parody fandub or some shit. I want to watch the show as the studio intended it. Not some lulzy interpretation of it by a bunch of fuckwards.

But part 1 isn't as serious as you say at all. the source material is 25 years old making it seem very silly nowadays, the studio is aware of this and by that making the over the top seriousness more humorous. I think Jojo benefits of being so serious, thus making it more humorous. GG's subs just ruins that by adding shitty pretend old speak. I'd say it is even worse than ye olde somethingsomething since it just appears overly pretentious with looking up the least used synonym for the translations.
Even worse is it now for part 2 that has a more comedic protagonist, only ruining that too.
