dgg ur wrong
The vast majority of the time I personally disagree with dgg but I think that gg's subs do add a lot to Jojo.
I find that the actual tone of voice used by the voice actors lends itself to a somewhat more over-the-top translation - and rather than translating words I feel that gg is accurate with how the show feels, without sacrificing the original meaning of the overall dialogue (while yes individual lines are sometimes outright wrong).
I've watched a few episodes of it with Commie's translation and frankly duwang's intentional terribleness is more entertaining. But as with all opinions, if you hate fun go right ahead and miss out.
I have to say, that's a pretty impressive feat from my standpoint. The most episodes I've been able to watch in one sitting is around 14-15 and that was with FMA: Brotherhood.
You are talking about watching something in a single day's worth of time, correct? 37 episodes sounds about a little more than half a day's worth of total runtime.
Yep, I started around 8 am and didn't finish till 1 am
i come bearing animated avatars. some are better than others. They should all be within gold member limits unless I fucked up somewhere.

I'll revisit nekomono later to see if I can find some more non-spoiler scenes to gif. If anybody wants a specfic scene done let me know. However I won't do anything that's blatant fanservice or spoiler-related. If you want either of those you can do them yourself.
I want to eventually run through the rest of my collection to find some more material, but this is all I have time for now.
Well, yeah, just like watching a parody fandub or some shit. I want to watch the show as the studio intended it. Not some lulzy interpretation of it by a bunch of fuckwards.
It's as if you're saying gg is a legit fansub group. I am free to talk trash about them as long as all they produce is trash.
How are you not watching the show as the studio intended it when everything the studio had to do with it is still there? Things will always get lost in translation and it has nothing to do with how the studio intended it. When the subtitles are downright wrong they are wrong in places you know what they actually want to say because it's basic words like "no" they like to go in a different direction with.
The voice acting is like the studio intended it, the visuals is like the studio intended it, the soundscape is as the studio intended it, the animation is like the studio intended it, the dialogue is like the studio intended it. The only thing that is different is how it's translated, which is here a matter of what words they've chosen and how they've formulated what they say, but never at the cost of inaccurately translating it to the point where it wasn't what they said at all and it doesn't make sense. It always make sense, it always follows the meaning, and that makes it a good subtitle.
gg is a legit fansub group, why would you ever choose a different group if gg is doing it? They always focus on getting the point across rather than the words, which I find to the be utter most important job in translating. Getting it right doesn't mean you translated it right. Translating a joke like it is in a different language can ruin it because the point is lost in the translation, and as such you need to localize it and make it into a different but similar joke that works on the audience you translate it for.
But part 1 isn't as serious as you say at all. the source material is 25 years old making it seem very silly nowadays, the studio is aware of this and by that making the over the top seriousness more humorous. I think Jojo benefits of being so serious, thus making it more humorous. GG's subs just ruins that by adding shitty pretend old speak. I'd say it is even worse than ye olde somethingsomething since it just appears overly pretentious with looking up the least used synonym for the translations.
Even worse is it now for part 2 that has a more comedic protagonist, only ruining that too.
Part 1 struggles very hard on deciding if it wants to be over the top action comedy or just some dumb serious drama, it went back and forth, back and forth and back and forth. It never could decide what path to take and just juggled between them. If it became any more serious it would be a trainwreck and god awful to watch.
I don't see how the more comedical Joestar is ruined by their translations. His jokes come straight across from his voice acting, his actions and the dialogue, the translation only adds to some of the humor at times, and I find his voice to sometimes cooperate with the old-english words.

Not with some digital distribution, for example when you buy music on iTunes you never fully own it.

That looks pretty neat, but seeing that text underneath the title again reminded me that they really don't into English that well over there at Nitroplus/5pb.

Kotoura-san episode 2 is here!
Oh good, Commie picked up Kotoura-san and are presumably using a less shitty raw (CRs quality was awful) with subbed OP, chapters etc.

The time between the OVA releases kills me.
You know, for someone with hair THAT long, Tamako sure has some pretty amazing bed hair.

I dunno how Crunchyroll's quality is for Kotoura-san since I don't watch that, but I know is that 95/100 times Commie is the group with the worst quality.
Chunky, if you took the time to actually compare Commie to other groups you would find their encodes to be quite shit and compressed in comparision. Best example is Psycho Pass, but they do this across the board. Their video is usually stretched and they usually have visible artifacting from compression.
