I watched through "Sword art Online" and thought it was OK. I thought the first season or first 14 episodes were OK overall, but the last set [sp]turned into this weird sister/cousin incest plot line. With the way they ended it, seems like the only reason that story arc was there was to just be filler, like they couldn't justify another full season so they needed more filler. It also didn't help that there was a ton of fanservice in comparison to the first season. [/sp] Is that the general consensus or do I have bad tastes?
This, this sums up what I thought of it, I was rather enjoying the virtual world of SAO and then they thought it would be a good idea to[sp]add incest and more fanservice because ya'know, that's what it really fucking needed, not more sword fights or anything like that, no, fucking incest[/sp]

Did they get a new director or something? Seems kind of an odd direction to take all of a sudden.
I've come to ask you guys a question because you are going to give me the best answers for it, seeing as you guys are the kind of people who would have the best opinions on it. I like chiptune music and the like and I like to do chiptune versions of songs. This hasn't been an issue yet, but let's say I did a song from an anime that had japanese lyrics, would you rather listen to a version where I put a) The original lyrics over the chiptune b) No lyrics at all c) A channel dedicated to the lyrics that has the notes the same as those of the lyrics (I'm not explaining this well am I) d) The lyrics are digitally synthesized by lets say a vocaloid or e) I don't care/ I don't like chiptune music Actually it would be really helpful if you could rate my post based on what you think, rather than posting. agree for A disagree for b funny for c informative for d useful for e Unrelated, but I really need to finish all of the SGT Frog volumes I got over christmas, they've been sitting on my shelf looking all lonely for a while now.
You mean a synthesizer, and not meaning something like vocaloid but one that just matches the tone?
You mean a synthesizer, and not meaning something like vocaloid but one that just matches the tone?
Yeah exactly that, I'm terrible at explaining things, especially when it comes to music because I don't know the terminology. It's exactly what I did for the spice and wolf ED cover that I made yesterday.
Haha. Cuticle Detective makes me laugh too much.
Guts is the pure definition of badass.
It's crazy how he becomes even more badass. I want a movie where he gets the Berserker armor and just fucks shit up big time, then I will be complete. [t]http://imgkk.com/i/pca2.jpg[/t]

Well it only took 13 episodes but Robotics;Notes is getting crazy.
Does this mean Semicolon;Overuse season 4 will take 26 episodes to become interesting?
Does this mean Semicolon;Overuse season 4 will take 26 episodes to become interesting?
And yet I would still watch it....maybe.
ok I'm about halfway through the first season of GITS:SAO and I've been watching the subbed version. I like it so far, really good story, nice effects, great characters. But then I came across this discussion on /a/ that the english dubs were far superior than the subs for this and that reasons blah blah blah. So I decided to try out the dubs, and I really don't like them. The voices are pretty generic, the Major's actor sounds like some fat chick trying to put on some ~mysterious~ air and every other voice is either some generic badass voice or in Aramaki's case just another "smart guy professor in charge" kind of thing. I'll be sticking with the subbed version. I'd rather have top-notch japanese at any rate.

At first it turned out god awful but it started to pick itself up halfway through the first arc of the story. Although I personally think [sp]SAO itself should've ended at episode 14; when Kirito was getting out the hospital. I felt that would've ended SAO arc nicely, then they could've had given ALO and GLO their own seperate adaptions.[/sp] I think it could've saved them time and budget if they did it this way.

I think the reason [sp]season 2 (?) sucked so bad was because they rushed through it and didn't have the time to develop a decent story. Maybe thats why they added so much silly fanservice? [/sp]

First three are the Golden Age arc, then they're planning to continue past that assumedly in chronological order. Can't source that but I read it on something linked a thread or two ago, grain of salt [citation needed] etc but that's what I remember

[/sp]
(that's not a spoiler, that's your opinion) they didn't need to "develop a story" because it's ripped directly from the light novel. This isn't an original work, it's just a mediocre adaptation. They added the fanservice in order to appeal to the lowest common denominator so that more people would like it and in turn make them more money. Anime is a business just like any other, and they want your money (if you live in japan). As a side note, I suggest you go and read the novel if you even remotely liked SAO. The main reason why I watch anime is that it's really interesting to try and figure out why different elements are on the screen. Every single detail needs to be added by an artist at some point in time; every angle needs to be explicitly decided by the director before anything can begin; every movement the character makes was drawn by hand, frame by frame (Unless it's CGI). There isn't another medium I can think of that has the same level of detail. Books are the closet you'll get, spending an entire page or more describing the elegance of something as mundane as a chair, yet it's possible to describe something in a way that 2 people will see/experience something differently. It's a lot easier to influence the emotions of the viewers when you can control literally every aspect of what's shown on the screen. The finest example of this is ShinSekai Yori episode 10 where they changed out the director for a single episode. It had a completely different feel than the rest of the series, and had more butt shots in it than the entirety of SAO. Go out and watch any episode of shinsekai while keeping the previous paragraph in mind. Then go and watch episode 10. It's such a stark difference that it's almost laughable. (Note: I suggest you watch shinsekai yori in it's entirety, and not just 2 episodes) basically: Don't want to work hard? Want to make a lot of money quickly? Pander to horny teens with lots of disposable cash! While you're at it remove anything that could be deemed too complicated; if it's not black&white it's too hard to understand. The same thing that is currently happening to videogames is happening to anime. Why bother risking your resources creating something brand new for a niche audience when you can copy something that has already proven to be a success? Now if you don't mind me, i'm going back to my rehashed shounen beat-em-up with a main character that looks like goku.

[/sp]
i think the reason why the SAO and ALO arcs were put in the same season was because they are directly linked, more so than the other Light novels and they only missed about 1 chapter from the light novel in the ALO arc. though heres my guess at what the seasons will be like (if there are more) season 1 = SOA and ALO season 2 = GGO and possibly mother rosario season 3 = Alicization arcs (if its finished by then) on another note watching the P4 animation has put me behind on watching other series

This is so true and sad. Really good series with deep and well-written stories gain no more profit than fanservice.

Because they did, and they were just about as abundant as today.
Also. Dem references. It is not that i don't enjoy some of them, but only because there is nothing better to watch. Basically my standards go lower and i have more to watch.
