I wondering if any of you could explain this image to me. I just don't understand. I know who the people are and what anime this is from but I don't understand this image.

That's an image the final scene of End of Evangelion (you might actually want to link that as it could be considered spoilers) with Hideki Anno (the director/main writer of Eva) on the left and who I believe to be Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (the character designer/artist) on the right, photoshopped onto buff men from some other show and then pasted onto the scene.
It seems to be going for absurdity; contrasting the dark scene depicted in the background with the creators running frivolously in the foreground.

I know who they are and what is going on. But like... wat. I will tag the image though. I do agree that it contains spoilers.

It effecticely illustrates how deep and meaningful the series and movie is. It portrays what goes on in their heads during the creation of NGE.
Redline: Dub or Sub?
Redline: Dub or Sub?
Doesn't matter, you're only going to be watching Redline for the visuals.
Redline: Dub or Sub?
Subs. Always. In every series ever [sp]except cromartie[/sp]
watch the sub anyways
anyone that says otherwise is a whore
cromartie has the best dubs
the original voices are hilarious too though
i'd say you're missing out on both sides
Doesn't matter, you're only going to be watching Redline for the visuals.
Yeah, the subs are really pulling me out of the visuals.
Also FLCL dub wasn't half bad, right? Right?

do you sit like a centimetre away from your screen, or are you just a really slow reader?
I don't understand how subs can literally pull people away from aesthetics

I prefered the dubs to the original voices, a rarity.
I usually prefer watching the dubbed though, i like to focus on whats going on rather than reading.
flcl's dub was terrible

It does, you can't say that subs are absolutely non-intrusive since you'll naturally be a bit more focused on the bottom half of the screen than the top. It's almost impossible to keep watch on subs and the show itself all in focus without forcing one into peripheral vision at least a fraction of the time. This usually isn't that big of an issue, but really Redline wasn't anything spectacular in plot or whatever so I could argue that dubs are good in that regard.
Seems my limit of effectively watching subs on my screen at this distance is 720p

tbh most dubs are bad because the enlglish actors don't put any emphasis into what is going on and if they try it sounds bad so it's better to read the subs instead anyway
like a character could be in an emotional battle scene and watching it with english dubs just kills it because it's like
Good guy: "Hawaaa"
Awkward Silence
Bad guy "*grunting noises*"
More silence
sorry guys if you can't focus on subs and screen at the same time then you need work on your reading skills

I dont have a problem with focusing on both, its just words on the screen have a knack for drawing my attention.
Also much of my viewing takes place at night when i'm tired and just can't really be bothered with additional reading..

most people are able to split focus in some way
you don't have to be focusing on the subs at all time either, if you understand any kind of human language you can get the general emotion of a sentence or conversation, so you don't really need to put 100% in to the reading part of that if you really get distracted

my only quarrel with subs is when they are badly typeset
I don't want my anime to have text over it the size of the sun

sorry but patrick seitz means that dub must be watched at least once
So Another is hilariously awful... Should I watch it for kicks or avoid it like the plague?
well if it's a bad series i wouldn't waste my time watching it
but if you really have nothing else to do go for it
Rememeber the 3 ep. rule.

Yes, and it's that split focus that I am addressing. I'm not saying that the presence of subs completely ruins your concentration on the show, but there is that disconnect from having to divert your attention for that split second to read what they're saying. I'm saying that in rare cases you don't need to bother with that, going back to the example of Redline. You're not watching it for the immersive story and dialogue, you're watching it for the sheer visual porn of watching anime-as-fuck high-speed racing. There could be an argument that using dubs, which are indeed usually considered inferior to the original audio, could be beneficial just so you can have your eyes bleed out all the more from staring at your screen.
Depends on the show I reckon. I personally had to pause Ghost in the Shell a few times so I could read about dem politics but if it's an anime about girls drinking tea and eating cake then subs shouldn't be that distracting.
I support people watching dubs so long as they don't do it in my presence
After all, the quicker they die of dubs the better
