Oh, so now things suddenly have to primarily be something to fall under a genre?
Wow, isn't that the exact opposite of what you've been arguing about for the last 500 pages?
Nope, it's not the opposite actually.
Idk, do you see how I highlighted the word opinions there? Probably not, do things in bold show up for you? Probably not, I don't know how anyone who read that could have missed it.
I think you missed the part where I said that your opinions ignore the context of the situations and assume shit that isn't there.
Nope, it's not the opposite actually.
Yes, it actually is, because you talked about how I ignored components of a show and didn't include them.
Now you're stripping away components of a show.

Sorry it's not the opposite.
Please don't "wow" me as if that is the dumbest thing you've ever heard. From my point of view clannad is not a comedy, certainly it has comedic elements, but it is not itself a comedy. Also you don't tend to find sad and comedy used to describe the same thing (usually, or at least in my experience.)
Also, genres don't follow opinions.
Well you haven't watched much if you've never seen a sad comedy.
Forest Gump for example.
You got me there, I have not seen forest gump, but it's a little stupid to say "You've not seen much" then only give one example. If you can find any more then I will quite happily say that I'm ignorant, but one film doesn't prove it.
Also, genres don't follow opinions.
Fine, you're just wrong then.
Clannad = comedy/romance
Clannad AS = drama/romance
Right? But it's important to realize that the "romance" in each is really different: awkward high school harem vs. actual romance
Eh, I don't really agree. I think they're both Romance/Drama. Clannad deals with developing the main cast as well as establishing Nagisa and Tomoya.
tonari no kaibutsu is pretty good i like reading this
Right? But it's important to realize that the "romance" in each is really different: awkward high school harem vs. actual romance
I was agreeing to this part, not the clannad bit.
Eh, I don't really agree. I think they're both Romance/Drama. Clannad deals with developing the main cast as well as establishing Nagisa and Tomoya.
Couldn't agree more, although clannad had comedic elements in the first series (more so than the second) that doesn't mean it is a comedy.
Jesus christ, I leave for a few hours and the entire thread is a mess.

I'm a little ignorant when it comes to TTGL, its the one with the red head with the tits and guns. Why is it so amusing that he rated it 10? I don't know anything about it so I have no reason to think that it's funny, could someone clue me in on it?
"No, your korean movie is a movie and can not be put in the What The Fuck Am I Watching category.
Same argument about Seitokai Yakuindomo as I gave to Kabuto about having it in the fanservice category. Please do prove me otherwise if I am wrong."
oh I must have slipped by that one, remove Aachi & Ssipak then I guess
as for SYD I probably put that in the wrong category by mistake, I'll go find my vote and check it
Fine, you're just wrong then.
I'm sorry, what?
Your opinion is that Clannad isn't a comedy. The fact of the matter is that it is. It's got a ton of comedy in it it, for almost every episode they throw in a bazillion jokes and punchlines, they even throw in JRPG level ups and game achievements.
You got me there, I have not seen forest gump, but it's a little stupid to say "You've not seen much" then only give one example. If you can find any more then I will quite happily say that I'm ignorant, but one film doesn't prove it.
You've already got two and that isn't good enough?
Lots of romantic comedies has a sad parts in them.
Chobits, Fruits Basket (according to Chunkymonkey), Kimi ni Todoke, Itazura na Kiss, Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl and Mawaru Penguindrum.
Eh, probably other shows as well that I have seen but can't quite remember. Some are to a lesser extent, others bigger.
If Clannad S1 was just romance/drama, there wouldn't be characters like Sunohara, Fuko, and Akio
Of course it's often dramatic, any show that isn't SOL needs to have conflict to be a watchable series
Had a few funny moments=/=Comedy
Has some mildly amusing characters=/=Comedy
Although that sounds really fucking stupid now I've typed it, but I kinda hope you see what I mean. There weren't enough funny moments in it for me to call it a comedy.
Here's my though on this long ass argument,
the voting went by the main categories, and the main categories go by the genre
genre's are things like fantacy, mecha, horror and such, not gore dark or any thing like that. Things like that are just a premise, and don't defy what the show is about. WHile evreyone here say Another is a comedy, it's still just a horror drama do to the plot of the show.
Stop confusing premise with genre plskthnx

Another one that didn't get it and just follows the train that was already off-track.
Well according to your definition of Perverted SYD definitely belongs in the section, as it contains mountains of innuendos and shit
if that doesn't satisfy you though, move it to Comedy instead, as it falls under that too and I've got a spare space in there anyway

If there are only innuendos and no fanservice then it doesn't belong.
It's a category for people that want ze tits and boobs. The shitstain part of the OP that brings out the worst of every voter.

Ah we have a little bit of a problem here, I think Fruits basket is sad at all, mostly because anytime the redheaded guy says anything depressing the the lazy one makes a joke about him (it's been a while since I've seen it but thats what I remember happening most of the time) and the rest of that (well I kinda stopped chibbits at episode 13, I should probably watch the rest) I haven't seen.

Stop conflicting your opinion with an objectional truth.
Also 1/3rd of each episode was usually comedy. Minimum.
I haven't seen.
Congratulations, that's exactly why I said you haven't seen much if you haven't seen a sad comedy.

I liked it, but [sp] the way she appeared on the last ep made it look like she would be much more important, right now she gets introduced as some sort of high ranking official with a shitload of guys in black suits but afterwards she looks like some random girl that does the paperwork and PR[/sp].

You keep contradicting yourself to don't forget, you switch between "MAL isn't reliable, they're haphazard" to "It says to on MAL, it must be true"
Also 1/3rd of each episode was usually comedy. Minimum.
I'd put it at a lot less than that.
Congratulations, that's exactly why I said you haven't seen much if you haven't seen a sad comedy.
Looks like I was wrong, I apologize.
Seeing as neither of us is going to admit that the other is right or wrong, despite what the other says are shows, I'm just going to stop, I don't want to make others have to trawl through loads of shit.
night all, gunna go watch me some yuri yuri.
You keep contradicting yourself to don't forget, you switch between "MAL isn't reliable, they're haphazard" to "It says to on MAL, it must be true"
MAL isn't reliable, there are two links there dude. MAL and ANN, if they both agree it's for sure, if only MAL agrees then i have to read a bit into it, if only ANN agrees then It's probably true but I should check if MAL is in the right.

Then you can't have paid attention to one of the worlds funniest shows that cracked a joke so often my jaws hurted.
Suddenly thread changes from postcount/hour to postcount/minute. And what is the reason for that?:
"Super brutal murder =?= black comedy"
"No! Super brutal murder =/= black comedy"
"Lole let call it a genre!"
"No! Dat not genre dat classification!"
"Black comedy has no limits; that's the point of it."
"No! Super brutal murder =/= comedy."
"Hellsing Ultimate and SAW is "super brutal murder" theme."
"Theme is not subject. In fact, that's not even really a subject."
"I don't want SUPER BRUTAL MURDER shows in the comedy category. I'm talking about shows THAT AREN'T FUNNY."
"I get it, you have a hard-on for black comedy and love semantics, now stop."
"nope"
