If you have steady internet and are not averse to MMORPGs of Korean origin, the original Ragnarok Online will run on almost anything. It does slow to a crawl if lots of spell effects are on screen or you have the "hallucination" status applied to you(which I recently found out actual slows YOUR ENTIRE COMPUTER until it either wears off or you turn the effects off. For a decade I thought it just slowed the game itself down).
Otherwise, the old standbys of Doom/II + a sourceport, DoomRL, Dungeons Of Dredmor.
Vagante might work on a low end lappy. Its a rogue-like platformer with 4 classes and is decent.

My brother bought Diablo III + Reaper of Souls earlier and for some reason I got incredibly bummed out. Its not so much that he bought it because if I wanted to get something I could as well(though nothing really catches my interest). I honestly don't know what was up.
I think the reason I'm drawing blanks is because I'm tired, so the ol' noggin is working at 25% efficiency. That's why I've been staring at my screen for a while.
