there arent that many spells for mages that are entirely useful anyways
i've been like "heh time to use aetherial manipulation and be a total badass by escaping this AoE" only to get out of the aoe and lag for a moment for it to still hit me and kill me anyways making me look like a jackass
if you're a scholar you literally only need the spells that grant galvanize and the spell that wakes you up half way through each encounter because you're doing jack shit

Now that I have computer that can handle it, Divinity: Original Sin is fun as fuck so far. I really like how your characters can disagree on certain things, it really helps flesh them out.
And the game looks fucking gorgeous on max settings holy shit. I still can't get over the fact that I can run games on max settings now.
