As a Call of Duty fan since 2003: Yes, I never regret buying a Call of Duty, except World at War. But, Treyarc is forgiven because of Black Ops.
As an ordinary gamer: I suggest trying it out from a friend or just save your money for an upcoming major release this year.
I bought COD4 back in early 09 when it had a steam sale.
I thought it was a pretty good game though I was going to stick to TF2 for the most part.
Then came along MW2.
I didn't buy it when it came out, it was a couple of months until I purchased it from peer pressure.
HOLY FUCK THIS IS THE MOST FUN I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T I BUY THIS EARLIER.
Seeing as my experience from MW2 was absolutely euphoric, I was going to be buying black ops on launch day. Fuck i was disappointed. Not only was it only improved in a few small ways, it was the shittiest PC port I have played in my entire life (horrible optimization, bad dedicated servers etc). I highly regret it. Don't buy it, atleast not for full price.
The multiplayer is just more of the same, but I thought the campaign was amazing, not because of any particular gameplay elements but because the plot and all of the setpieces are so hilariously over the top. It's not as good as Call of Duty 4, of course, but it's much, much better than MW2.
I spent $30 and am happy with my purchase. But anymore and I would have regret buying it.
It's worth the money, it's a lot better then anything Infinity Ward can pull out of their ass, the Multiplayer is well balanced and the campaign is fun, the zombie mode is different compared to any other it's entertaining and can get a bit challenging. So it's worth the money, however it shouldn't be 60, PC users should only have to pay 50 for it.

It's worth it if you can get it for $20 or less. But you should just get BC2 and Vietnam instead.

Except MW1 was good.
Its good but worth about, 20$ less. 60$ is outrageous for any game. Just the fact thats its almost a standard price though for any game is frivolous.

Treyarch sucks. I played for about an hour and got bored.
constantly freezes, controls fucking suck dick, community is full of super nerds who play it all day, guns suck, yeah it's a bad game.
