DISCUSS: Was Minecraft better before its fulll release?

my last post made no sense, was tired so i'm going to try to say what i wanted to say in a better way.

minecraft was at first a game about exploring your world, destroying it in a way and then building around it. this was the theme kept up from index all the way to beta. 1.8 is what destroyed the game though. we were promised an update that simply was going to flesh out another aspect, exploring. some abandoned mineshafts, ravines some new world generation.

instead, what we did get was a total game overhaul that generally changed the whole focus and theme of the game. hunger was notch's way of saying "meh im too lazy to think of a good balance so lets have hunger" (actual reason mind you!) - and the world generation was FUCKED. come a few months later and the game had a full enchanting system, limited animals and other RPG elements. it went away from the "build around some mining" theme to "survive in this environment while hunting down pearls to get to an underwhelming fight"

not only has the game gone MORE in that direction, but the community has only gotten worse. memes, shitty music videos and i think the worst part has to be the servers. i played some of the first few SMP servers when SMP was first released, before inventory saving and all that and servers were simple. be nice, don't blow peoples shit up and have fun. no server was an RPG, no server was this jail or cops vs robbers, it was simply the game that people wanted to play.

now that's gone as well, all the servers are the same. instead of coming up with original ideas and using plugins to their full extent someone had one unique idea, and when it got successful everyone started ripping it off. have you ever heard of.. a mob arena hunger games drugs prison server!? or an anarchy pvp factions server? oh no, of course not!

so in general, the game walked away from the intended theme, or at least the theme that everyone grew to love, the community only got worse and the game has honestly became a borefest.

that, or like i said i'm just bored of the game.
