This song still has the same effect on me. I've always had this intense fear of drowning, so hearing this music just reminds me of the anxiety I felt in this level. I never liked playing it, because of how easy it seemed to screw up and have to watch Mario drown.

In my opinion, the series' soundtrack is one of the best video game soundtracks in the history. It's just amazing how such a small console can produce such a touching and rememberable soundtrack.
