Mass Effect 2. First one was an epic space adventure, 2 was just Sigmund Freud daddy-issue simulator... IN SPAAAACE!
Arkham Origins
Empire Earth II, StarForge and more importantly- Godus.
Amnesia: Machine for Pigs
I waited so long for this, expecting it to break the cycle of shitty horror-games. Well, it did not. I only preordered it instantly because "Hell yeah, Amnesia!" and it's pretty much the only game I've preordered without finding out anything about it. Well, lesson learned goddammit.
Flatout 3. Oh my god,a new FlatOut game! Oh...its not made by Bugbear. Well,it can still be good, right?
Boy,was I wrong. Horrible game.
Also,Spore didn't dissapoint me at all. I still like it.
Spore
I never really knew anything about spore. Why was it so disappointing?
Skyrim
I still play Skyrim.
TF2 disappointed me more the longer I played it, I can't play more than 2-3 rounds at a time with my friends anymore.
Hitman Absolution, expected a sequel to Blood Money, ruined by how linear it was and how you had to rely on "Instict" to do practically anything
I never really knew anything about spore. Why was it so disappointing?
It was said to be the second coming of Jesus in video game format
What we got was a fairly decent game.
Didn't live up to it's hype, basically.
EvE: Bought a months subscription twice, one in 08 and one just last week. I keep telling myself that I can do the learning curve and enjoy the game, I'm always wrong.
Fear 2 and 3: I recently bought them in the humble bundle, its like a slow slide into generics, by Fear 3 I was shooting generic badguys in a Favela it's a total Cod clone down to the letter, but at least the gunplay is better than 2's that's probably just about it.
Mann Vs Machine on TF2
Street Fighter X Tekken
GTA Online
Bioshock Infinite
AC3
Fable 3
Bioshock Infinite
Trailers made the game look much better than it actually is. Got boring real fast, within the first hour or so.
And GTA V Online, missions are real repetitive and not really that fun unless you have friends to play with.

I think this was caused by how the story was intended to play out, I can't really see how else they could have carried the ending from blood money into absolution whilst still keeping it the same as blood money

Except it wasn't "fairly decent"... Seriously, try to make the arguments for it sound more one-sided why don't you?
Every stage of the game was subpar and boring as hell to play. When you have 5 parts of the game, and 4-5 of them are boring, you don't add them up and say "together they were okay", you say "most of the game was a boring waste of time"
Creature stage was just walking from nest to nest and dancing at people or killing them for an hour or two. Tribal was just the same thing from an RTS perspective, except occasionally your "nest" got attacked. Civilization tried to be a more straight up RTS, but had lame mechanics and totally removed you from the personalities of the creature you made. And the only thing you did in Space was fly around trying to do things, but being the only person capable of destroying the three ships attacking your colony on the other side of the galaxy, you ended up being incapable of doing ANYTHING in the whole galactic sandbox in front of you. And even if you found the time, it was horribly underwhelming and shallow.
The only one that was solid in its own right... was Cell stage. At least it felt like you were in an actual ecosystem, where other creatures swam around hunting others, or hiding from predators while they ate algae. Where your creature designs actually effected how you played. And yet even then, while you had the ability to edit your cells, the game only ever populated it with premade cells for no damn reason, and the stage lasted maybe 10 minutes.
There was no one stage I can look at and say "they did that well".
It has nothing to do with hype, it was just a boring game that was carried by the editors alone.
The game itself was incredible, but the (lack of) length of Dishonored was pretty disappointing. My initial playthrough (where I spent a hell of a lot of time exploring, messing around, and refining skills for later on in the game) was like 8 hours long. It was amazing, but damn.
GTA Online is fucking ass cheeks.
1. You can't turn the stupid fucking police off when they ruin everybody's fun all the fucking time.
2. People act like huge assholes all the time and it's impossible to pass somebody without them blowing up your car and shit.
3. Rockstar lowered the fucking race winnings, the most I've gotten from winning a race is 4k in a 16-man race. These races are frustrating as fuck being that all people seem to do is bash into the back of your car and send it spinning off the track and into last place, the least they could do is give me my 10k for coming first.
4. Everything is so fucking broken and Rockstar aren't doing fucking shit to fix it, this whole game feels like it was just for the money, everything feels like it could be so much better, they fucked up.
5. Almost 2 months in and still no heists, all they gave us is this shitty fucking "beach bum" pack which gave you a broken bottle, a prostitute pistol, three shitty new vehicles and 10 stupid fucking missions that are exactly the same as every single other mission in this fucking game.
Prototype 2 was one huge, huge downgrade in everything not related to raw graphics.
Everything after AC2 except Revelations. #3 just made me completely lose interest in the series.
I also really wanted to like Dishonored, but despite the great ideas and backstory texts it all feels dead and flat and dull in execution to me.
Saints Row 4
PAYDAY 2.
The first hour of it is holy fuck, this game is difficult as shit.
Then when you start to a play a bunch of different heists and unlock new weapons etc. at around levels 15-25 it's actually kind of fun.
After that it's grindy enough to malt you down into whiskey, and the issues really start to pop out at you. The singleplayer is pants and generally flawed to the point of impossibility, the matchmaking system is a decent idea but unfortunately it's shit, the engine is horrifically optimized and runs like a turd in a washing machine, and the devs are always way too drunk and buried in money to actually release any of the things they promised before launch.
I never really knew anything about spore. Why was it so disappointing?
They released a bunch of early gameplay videos that made it look fucking sweet, but when the final release came out they cut a bunch of cool features and made the game pretty mediocre.
Payday 2's beta was really fun, and I was looking forward to the full game, but then you kinda see how fucking recycled stuff is
Castle Doctrine: A friend told me about it and the concept seemed really fun. Played for a day and then realised that you actually need a math degree to enjoy this game.
Starbound: 6 months ago I pre-orderer a 4-pack with some friends thinking I could play the alpha build right away. Here I am today, still waiting to play this game. It's my fault for not knowing what I'm paying for but still it was a big disappointment when I realized that I couldn't play.
PayDay 1 and 2, Fallout 3, and Assassins creed 3
AC3 was a fucking mess of a game. I can barely think of anything good about it!
Half-Life 2 Episode 1
Any game that promised 'a true survival game' and it allowed you to buy your everyday food in the store, and allows you character to go weeks without sleep ,food or water, Fallout New Vegas is one of the few games I know that did it right.
Assassins creed 3 was also a dissapointment, but I geuss that's what happens when you get more to the present and go from killing eachother to politics. [sp]I still enjoyed it[/sp]
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men.

fucking this
though I did know everything about the game before the release, it's shit like this makes me want to pirate games
Assassin's Creed 3.
We were promised a dynamic weather system with tree climbing and more fluid missions
What we got was a permanent summer after game completion, only 10% of all trees being climbable, and a mission system that made no sense
fyi
you can set the weather to what you want in the options
how many trees are climbable in an irl forest
