I honestly don't know how people can rate this disagree. The whole game was incredibly out of tune and character and had a completely different (and in my opinion, inferior) style.
Because Hitman Blood Money wasn't the only other Hitman before Absolution and the previous games all played differently to Blood Money. Because Blood Money is highly over rated and most of the people bitching that Absolution wasn't a Blood Money clone probably haven't played it in years so have forgotten how limited the game actually is.
Besides Blood Money isn't even the best Hitman game, there's too much waiting for NPCs to go to the right spot, Contracts was the best game.
Minecraft when I first played it.
I wanted to see what all the hype was about, I thought it'd be a very fun adventure game.
Instead it's 90% building and you need mods to make it fun.
counter-Strike Global Offensive. Now, I'm not a hardcore CS player or a purist or anything, and I loved the idea of CSGO, and the beta, but Valve keep making poor decisions with updates and have completely shafted modders in favor of pushing idiotic weapon skins.
SMNC. I loved the game to death I just wish the devs cared enough to not let it die. Some of my favorite characters come out of that game.
The Lonesome Road DLC of New Vegas.
It was really linear, was completely devoid of characters sans some asshole calling you up every 5 minutes to call you an asshole, had a strange and hard to believe backstory, and the encounters with the tunnelers were such an annoyance.
However, the scenery was nice and so were the weapons and armour and stuff you found. While I still enjoyed it, it just wasn't what I expected as a followup to the absolutely amazing Old World Blues.

That's nice and all but I wasn't comparing Absolution to Blood Money but to the whole series.

But Absolution had a very similar style to Contracts, they're both about low points in 47's life, they both had fairly linear levels where the main challenge is working your way to your target and escaping, and you had very limited equipment on the first run.

But Contracts didn't have giant mexican motherfuckers who are immune to fucking garrottes and ninja nun assassins.
I mean Hitman never was the epitome of seriousness but holy fucking shit Absolution has so many fucking ridiculous, senseless moments it's not even funny anymore.
Not to mention that Absolution lacked or dumbed down a few features, like a safehouse or the ability to choose and upgrade your own weapons. Which enables you to play the game in your way, and adds a ton of re playability.

Well you don't have the Silverballers for half the game, and upgrading the weapons was pretty silly. I mean you could get a semi-auto silenced shotgun with armour piercing pellets.
Also the nuns were dumb, but they were just like any other enemy, and the mexican guy was one unique enemy.
As for replayability that's what the custom contracts were for.
