caught up with Boku Girl
v. good
it isn't as ecchi as I thought. There are a few scenes but they laid off in the later chaps.
funny throughout and there is a good amount of story and character development for its genre

I want to keep up with Boku Girl, but isn't Batoto always like thirty/forty chapters behind?
You can only read through so many live-TLs because the method gets grating.

Hey everyone, it's time for dissenting opinion theater!
I've read 96 chapters of Oyasumi Punpun and I'm so fucking bored I can't bring myself to continue, I really don't get why everybody loves this so much.

My turn!
I think Prison School is unfunny. I fail to see how a bunch of girls blackmailing and abusing 5 boys is supposed to be at all funny. This may very well be the first series I drop, especially since it's not really one I could bother catching up with on the subway in the morning, since it's at some points just censored porn.
No Game No Life was very mediocre
actually that would probably derail everything
Hey everyone, it's time for dissenting opinion theater!
I don't think it's really dissenting, but there's something about Psycho-Pass that doesn't grab me.
I watched the first few episodes, went "yeah, this is pretty good i guess" and had absolutely zero desire to keep watching. The same thing happens with Phantom: Requiem for a Phantom. What a repetitive title. Inferno was a much more memorable title back when it was a VN.
It's not that I think they're bad, there's just something that doesn't trigger my desire to keep watching.
Oh, and Spice and Wolf was kind of a slog. Never got around to watching the second season. I think that's more likely to get me crucified. Not bad, just not terribly interesting either.

No, you aren't allowed to snip that, share with the class.

He's right, that would derail everything, that shit does not fly.

I don't think ttgl is as good as people think it is
I don't think ttgl is as good as people think it is
I refuse to watch TTGL because being told about what happens at the end [sp]robots the size of galaxies throwing smaller galaxies at each other[/sp] made me think anime was stupid and ridiculous for years, and is why I refused to watch anime. It's also what makes me refuse to watch mech shows, well, that and the fact that I just don't like mechs.
If we're going for dissenting opinions, I think Clannad is fucking hot garbage
If we're going for dissenting opinions, I think Clannad is fucking hot garbage
Even if I liked romance anime, I will say without shame that I refuse to give that show a try because of the horrific art style.

TTGL and CG are among some of the few mechs I watch, mostly because watching them while drinking is so much fun.
But for an opinion that won't cause 50 pages of shit, I think arguing over manga to anime adaptations are somewhat silly since some things HAVE to be cut to fit into a tv show.
Also, Dub vs Sub debates are the most pointless things ever. It's about as pointless as arguing about what colour is better.

dub vs sub has legitimate arguments though, like the fact that all funimation dubs use the same 20 actors, or the fact that the voice acting industry in japan is far bigger than ours so our talent pool is smaller and less trained.
dub side has good arguments for it too, like no engrish, goku in dragonball z not being an old woman who also voices BOTH HIS KIDS AT THE SAME TIME, and the ability to voice cat people as sultry black men.

Yeah but also not everyone wants to read subs, it comes down to what people prefer.

I think you might need to be more specific, that seems like a rather short-sighted statement. Most adaptation vs source material arguments are over how good the direction and presentation of the adaptation are, plus how much of a difference what they cut and/or changed makes.

I'm all for dubs when they're good, but most dubs are objectively worse. And I don't like to throw around objective to mean "my opinion on the subject is more correct than yours", most dubs just don't have enough good VAs to go around. Unless your desire to listen to it in English is what you consider more important.
[editline]28th July 2015[/editline]
I do wish there were more good dubs. A good dub can be refreshing after listening to so much moonspeak.
Yeah but also not everyone wants to read subs, it comes down to what people prefer.
yeah I could have listed that on my pro dub side, and I will watch dubs if they're good enough so I'm not sub elitist.
I've found about 4 shows I can watch dubbed.
There are a few stand-outs. If you're watching Cromartie or Baccano in Japanese you're doing it wrong.
[editline]28th July 2015[/editline]
Baccano's biggest strength to make it more appropriate to watch dubbed is the 20s setting. Can't have the accents in Japanese.
When an anime adaption of a manga light novel visual novel etc is bad, it's not bad because it deviates, you can deviate and still be good or even better. I don't hate adaptations going original just cause they went original, but because it's almost ALWAYS worse.
Parasyte deviates heavily and is better for it, pacing improves and plot holes were filled in, the new Unlimited Blade Works anime deviates a lot from the VN but is still great. Chunnibyou's LN is kind of garbage that Kyoani polished into a decent show among other examples.
But then there's the original fullmetal alchemist, which changes the entire plot and the new plot just... isn't good. Now I had not read the manga when I watched the anime, so I didn't know what the original plot was, I still thought it was bad.
