Not really, I don't mean it in that way. I'm saying that somebody who analyzes the animation with the intent of learning and applying that stuff to their own work might have a different experience watching something than somebody who watches it for entertainment, or focuses on story and whatevers. It has nothing to do with whatever my career is In my opinion, the animation in KLK had way more standout moments visually, both "actually really good-good" and "bad in a good way-good". I don't remember anything from Gurren Lagann that made an impression on me, while I can name loads of moments from Kill la Kill where the animation really stood out to me.
I've analyzed a lot of animation as well, it's a fascinating subject, the classic "The Animators Survival Kit" is a fascinating video series to just dive into here and there. Animators made the animation in TTGL as well, animators animated all other shows, even the generic ones. Everyone has their different preferences in animation styles, gestures and body language. Studying animation doesn't change your preference, it just makes you aware of what it is specifically, down to the details others couldn't explain and/or weren't aware of. When you start drawing a line between "the masses" and "the animators" for why people may like something, you're unintentionally also doing the whole "mainstream mass-production" argument, where the masses gobble up the bad movies whilst the truly masterful ones are overlooked because "they don't get it". Just to clarify, I don't think you're purposefully trying to call other people uneducated swines that can't understand the sophisticated finesse of the work put behind KLK compared to TTGL, but that is where you're currently headed, and you should be aware of that.
He's just explaining where his preference comes from what's wrong with that
His preference comes from his preference.
your preference is wrong if it differs from mine

Yeah dgg stop being offended at opinions.
Funny, because I just stated this his preference comes from him as a person, not because he works with animation.
My posts come from my butt
Durarara s2 is far from mediocre. It's definitely worth watching, don't listen to kamikaze. Second cour stars in like in like a week and a half too.
I personally liked s2 better than s1. There was one instance of stupidly horrible animation (s2 spoilers:[sp]the part where the two older hitman talk about vorona whilst burning a bunch of bodies in Russia. Some of the animations were done at one frames per second with futile blending[/sp]) and there was small arc [sp]hollywood killer[/sp] with no tie in with the main arc as of the first cour. It's a quite a bit more ridiculous but it's the good kind, reminds me of guy ritchie's snatch without the macgruffin [sp]until the little girl comes in[/sp].
Now that I've hit the 15 episode point in Star Driver, I think it's safe to say that I know exactly what's stopping it from being a "good" show, apart from the fact that the character and mech designs are absolutely ridiculous. It's how the story is handled, and thus how most of the episodes are approached. It's very character driven, but in this the overarching plot (which itself is rather dumb, let's be honest) is often sidetracked or ignored, and brought back at the strangest times The general (non-main) character arc goes [sp]reveal > importance > fight > loss > "redemption" > tends to blend into the woodwork[/sp]. This means that, despite each of these episodes dealing with an entirely seperate character, they are generally much alike, making each episode feel samey if you aren't paying direct attention to the characters and are instead trying to piece together the story. It's annoying, too, because there are some great character dynamics between many of the characters, but it comes at the cost of the plot moving forward in a standard way. Stuff appears to be getting a little less like this, though, but I don't think that it's going to be able to redeem the show from being ultimately completely average.

Yamada isn't finished yet ... what?
Yamada isn't finished yet ... what?
The anime is over, enjoy your anime original ending. (haven't read the manga but that sure felt like an original ending.)
It was pretty boring.
Its not boring. Its clearly building up to something quite epic.
The anime is over, enjoy your anime original ending. (haven't read the manga but that sure felt like an original ending.)
It wasn't anime original, it adapted up to chapter 90. [editline]28th June 2015[/editline] It was really rushed tho if that wasn't obvious.
Its not boring. Its clearly building up to something quite epic.
Build up or not it was boring.
It wasn't mediocre, it was just boring. Maybe it was the pacing, I dunno. I really liked s1 (gave it a 8) but it just wasn't there for me with first half of s2, maybe second half will be better.
It wasn't just boring at times it was also downright bad. They ignored some of the previous cast entirely and some of the newer characters are downright bad. Furthermore the MC feels more like a mary sue in S2.
It wasn't anime original, it adapted up to chapter 90. [editline]28th June 2015[/editline] It was really rushed tho if that wasn't obvious.
Oh yeah the rushing is super obvious even from an outsider perspective, I just thought that seemed like an original ending because I don't know how you could continue after that without some major bullshit. Please tell me how the hell the plot could continue after that ninny.
I have no idea lol. I only read up to chapter 80 something, stopped after all chapters were removed from most manga sites. All I know is that they apparently [sp]introduce 7 more witches or something [/sp] later in the manga but I don't know how it continues right after where the anime left off. It's at like chapter 160 something now it seems.
Porn of gintama should just not exist
Animators made the animation in TTGL as well, animators animated all other shows, even the generic ones. Just like somebody who gets into fashion might start finding appeal in ridiculous runway stuff when they previously just thought it looked stupid, somebody who gets into working with animation will start appreciating other things than before. My brother who goes to art school suddenly appreciates weird-ass performace art now, when earlier he'd just find it dumb. Going from the consumer side to the creator side, which completely changes your reasons for watching things, definitely changes your preferences in that medium.
Funny, because I just stated this his preference comes from him as a person, not because he works with animation.
Except it does I know why I like what I like, and I like what I like because of what I do, because before I did this I liked other things. This discussion isn't even about anime anymore so I'll stop now
also i am watching GTO, episode 18.. WTF?! [sp]Bitch just lit someone on fire and you're gonna let her run away and not call the fuckin cops right then and there? These kids do completely ridiculous shit, but this ex-biker gang member genuinely cares about them and is determined to find the good in them. [sp]The nigga jumps after and uses his own body to cushion the blow when that one boy tries to commit suicide even[/sp]
Well yeah i know that, but this part is just a little bit ridiculous. Maybe I'm just out of the mood of the show since I haven't watched it in a few months
Well yeah i know that, but this part is just a little bit ridiculous. Maybe I'm just out of the mood of the show since I haven't watched it in a few months
You must be, absolutely ridiculous things casually happening in GTO is pretty par for the course.

yahari s2 [sp] kind of a disappointment s1 was good because it came up with believable plot and conflict for the setting, where yukino and hikki go "look there's a fucking elephant in the room" to voice their blunt but needed-to-be-said opinions. they took the norm of "holding back on what you say because you don't want to become an outcast" and threw it out the window with satisfying results. then you had the overarching char development as yui helps the two of them start to warm to "other people", maybe not fitting in but being less ostracized meanwhile you have hikkis internal monologue thats mostly about his view on society and the network of human relationships and interactions, and sensei's occasional life advice, both of which were interesting to listen to now we have s2 the entire first half is about some girl that comes out of nowhere then disappears into nothingness when her arc is over, which is fine but she literally replaced yukino, who becomes a super minor character for that arc. but ok, you still have some of the charm from s1, the conflict there is still believable, hikki's no-nonsense personality is still there then you have the second half where yukino's family becomes prominent. all of a sudden yukino becomes a blubbering mess, yui becomes a blubbering mess, 8man becomes a blubbering mess, the drama dial is turned to 11 and you lose suspension of disbelief as you remind yourself that these kids are like 16. yukino especially loses all uniqueness in her character to become generic kuudere #5298374, and by the last episode yahari s2 has become a generic HS rom drama you can find anywhere else 8->7->6 avg 7/10 [/sp] i do hope s2's disappointment was due to shitty pacing and directing on the studio's part, and not the author

The fabled Lesbians of Star Driver have appeared, and the show... ...has not barreled off the deep end, yet. Will it, though? We shall see. Final 7 episodes.
i'm keeping it alive :^) also your 4chin theme sucks
<3
whats up with crunchyroll's manga list? Why is it so short? Why when I click view all does it clearly not show all of the manga? How can I view categories? How can I actually view all the manga?
Kiniro Mosaic S2 was worse than the first but at least they kicked up the cute engrish a lot.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ZxBhrDu.png[/img_thumb]
I see literally nobody that did anything wrong in this picture.
