I need to fucking know right now.

Whoever said that needs a punch to the face now.
I made it up a few minutes after I woke up. :downs: (Funny thing is, I was never stupid enough to
say that seriously.)

I've learned to take your posts with a grain of salt after you first admitted to having made a good portion of them up... this one was no exception.
Still, it reminded me of a similar quote from an idiot who hangs out with a few of my friends. Basically said the same thing, but $1500 and 4 years. :argh:
Just posted, look above you :buddy:
Damn, I really need to click on youtube links here.
Mac just look better with the high-resolution desktop/icons, but its frustrating once you start using it.
-Mac wont let you download DLC's from interent, wont play games well, and has less memory than a PC.
-PC is meant to play games, Download, and has more than 1 terribyte For the same price as a Mac. ( i checked at best buy 600$ for a PC with 1 terribyte, and 1,000$ for a Mac with 500 gb)
-PC doesnt have the music / movie editor or whatever Mac ppl call it. Its called Download programs that are meant to do that, something Macs cant do ;]
-Mac is meant to make movie's and edit audio. But what else can they do? PC's can download a program that allows them to do the same things-if not more.
PC ftw!!!
ahahahahaha

This, made up quotes kinda ruin the whole idea of the thread.
I'm sure that somewhere, someone actually has said most of the things I made up.
The thing is he said you can run high-end game with a sucky graphic card.
not a average card, he clearly said a card that sucks.
I'm sure that somewhere, someone actually has said most of the things I made up.
to some degree, most definitely. Some of your stuff is a bit to the extreme, but hell, SOMEONE's always just that stupid.
I swear, this quote is real.
Sorry, bud. I didn't know you wanted a computer to play games on.
This was just after he bought me a computer that was terribly outdated, (like from the early 90's)
for OVER $2,000. And he has always known that the only reason I have ever gone on the
computer, was to play games. That was my last computer. (and the one that my dad still uses)
Well, at least it was better than the horrible piece of shit office machine that my siblings passed
off as a "computer" at Christmas...
My friends think that leaving spotify on when you have finished buffering a song still drains as much broadband as when you are buffering, sigh...

It does, spotify buffers the entire playlist at once.
Well recently I bought a refurbished asus system for my mother whose last computer was a 3 year old dell dimension 400. The system was under warranty so I was unable to open it, this became a problem when I noticed that the disc drive was not responding. So I decided to take the system back to compusa so their "techies" could go ahead and replace it or fix the problem as I was unable to open the case. Well after I brought it to them they told me to come back in 2 days, so I come back two days later and I see the tower on it's side with 3 techies around it just poking and prodding around inside. I walk over to get a better look and they tell me that it must be a faulty disc drive or something, that was when I look at the inside of the tower and see that the drive was not hooked up to the motherboard. I asked if they had unhooked anything they said no.So I plugged it back into the motherboard and turned it, needless to say the disc drive worked perfectly.

Hm, well waddya know, now I'm the dumb one!
Her: "My computer keeps opening these things, I don't know what they are and I didn't open them!"
Me (not very interested, or caring): "You probably have something on your system like a virus.
Her: "Noo, you're wrong, I checked Add/Remove programs in the control panel and there was nothing there."
Jesus fucking christ.

Wait what? The donation place here sells win2k towers for fifteen bucks each, fully assembled and functional, too!
:argh:
you can get p3 (and sometimes p4) dells for around $10 if you look in the right places.

Really? Running a server may be cheaper than I thought ...
Even better, get 10 and create a cluster. >:D

yes, really. there is a catch though, it's not like it's form a warehouse or something. I usually find them at hamfests (like a flea market for amateur radio) or government surplus/recycling dealers.

eventually I plan to have a 16 node cluster made of these:

all in one stack in the corner of a room.
How hard is it to create a cluster?

haha epic idea, I've picked a couple of those up for family and friends at Northern Computer Markets (Wolverhampton Racecourse venue), all 2.4Ghz+ p4 and with 512+ ram and for less than £30 each.
It's pretty awesome yet hilarious how pretty much all casual computer users with no knowledge in the area could easily do everything they need to do at a reasonable speed on one of these...
How does one go about configuring a cluster? Seems a fun project for my free time...
I do know that you will need a fast router; preferably gigabit.
Don't die thread.
In other news, a friend of mine recently announced he is upgrading to windows 20.
Yep. Windows 20. From Windows 13 Power User Version.

Pretty much everyone I know praise Windows for being the best and put down an obviously more useful operating system (Linux) and bitch at me for using anything (or mentioning) having to do with Linux.
My parents say to use Chrome or IE instead of Firefox because apparently FF gives viruses. It's still God-damn secure. I happen to like Chrome but it doesn't seem right to me. IE....forget about it.
I think y'all remember the Facebook chats I posted earlier?
Pretty much everyone I know praise Windows for being the best and put down an obviously more useful operating system (Linux) and bitch at me for using anything (or mentioning) having to do with Linux.
You do realize that it's probably comments like these that most likely make them dislike it. Firstly, the fact that you say it's "obviously more useful" is not only a total ultimatum but at the same time debatable depending on what you want to do.
Secondly, what are you doing other than putting them down for using an equally/more useful operating system? I say equally/more useful because, as I stated earlier, it's not only dependent on the situation. I'd bet that the stuff they're using their computers for, probably gaming, simple internet, regular non-techie stuff, will get them more use from windows than linux. For example, I'd never use linux because the main thing I use my computer for is gaming and in that category, linux is definitely not as useful as windows.
Mainly what I'm trying to say (and all that mac bashing falls into this category as well) is that not only does saying that one OS is "obviously better" make you look like a class A jackass, but it also simply isn't true. In addition, it causes both groups to develop more fanboys, which I can safely say we all equally despise.
