A teacher I help out was stuck on XP on her laptop, so I installed Windows 7 for her. The next day, I found she had installed Ubuntu on it(not the bad part), stating that her husband (who works for yahoo) told her that "Firefox doesn't work on Windows 7". I gave her this face:
My sister thinks that the computer case is the monitor.
My sister thinks that the computer case is the monitor.
Most likely she uses a mac.
An entire row of macs in my mac lab in school crashed yesterday. :V All the mac fags were like "WHAY! THEY ARE NO SUPPOSED TO CRASH" Me and my friends were laughing.
Me: So I was thinking about getting a new computer.. Friend: Yeah, you need to upgrade your CPU Me: No I don't, the CPU is fine. I need a new computer. Friend: Yeah, thats what I said, you need a new CPU Me: A CPU is different than a computer. Friend: Nuhuh facepalm
Most likely she uses a mac.
inb4 someone shouts "no more mac hate!", legitimate illiterate statement [editline]09:44AM[/editline]
Me: So I was thinking about getting a new computer.. I said to my dad "Linux isn't the solution to everything... I hope you know that" and my dad replied "You're just trying to keep me from using it! It is the solution to everything!" He's installing Linux Ubuntu on my brother\sister's computer in response to their illiteracy. Makes sense right?

Makes sense right?
LOL That's one of the few things linux can't do, correct illiteracy. :v: back in the day, when classes were online, the 'class supervisor' freaked out at me for having cmd on my screen, and all i was doing was using the COLOR and ECHO commands to their limits. i was a noob at the time, but what i was doing was obvious from ten feet away, since i was alternating quickly between COLOR F0 and COLOR 0F very quickly.
Not really illiteracy but I found this kind of funny. A business card my dad picked up somewhere: What kind of computer hardware does he think he can repair, a jammed printer? :v: Oh, and Wolfe's is a local camera store.
What if the fan on your graphics card is not spinning, and he manages to fix it?
I once had this happen, when I opened my computer to fix something I ended up pushing my CPU fan cables into the way of my CPU fan. Fan wasn't spinning and it nearly overheated.
This isn't computer illiteracy.
Hence
Not really illiteracy
I just though it was funny and wanted to share.
What if the fan on your graphics card is not spinning, and he manages to fix it?
Well sure he could fix that, but there's very little else he could fix which was why I thought it was funny. But I guess it wasn't. :saddowns:

I was hanging out at the mall today and my friends who think that everything I bring them from the magical realms of the Internet is amazing decided that we should go ask around in the printer section of stores for giglabytes. Some of the employees reactions were pretty good.
"My pc dont work fix it cuz im dumb Sure thing my friend I'll have it repaired shortly k fix it plez" "Sir, I have repaired your computer. It is in perfect working order. thx, no im go play farmvil lol XD" To the general public, fixing you're computers Flux-Capacitor, or the fiddly-doo or the doo-bob that most people don't know what they are. It's repair, because it's broken, then working. Even if it's just plugging the power supply back in.

I think BlackWolf was referring to just fixing anything anyone could do, but not because of their illiteracy.
I think he is 13 and just learned what command prompt is.
the USB cable had probably detatched from the computer andhis retarded friend didn't know how to put it back in.
my friend looks at his little brother's msn chatlogs, and now his little brother things he put "spyware" on the computer, and now he can use the webcam (even though they don't have one) to spy on him, that's how he gets the chatlogs. Also his brother spent half a minute finding "all programs" on the start menu
While it was on? :ohdear:
I used to hot swap hard drives until I shorted one out.
A friend of mine asked me how much ram i had couse he was thinking about buying more. i said that i had 3943mb. Suddenly he started to rage that is not possible. Like 3943 can´t be divided by 8. So i asked why divided by 8? he replyed that he has 2x1024mb ram and 2048/8 = 256 so? if you divide your ram by 8 and get 64/128/256/512/1024 then you have a real ram. Mate i have Vram also Vram? Virutel ram. ohhh that shit. that is for pussis then i started to walk away. Don´t argue with idiots they will only bring you down to there level and beat you with experiance.
Vram is Virtual Ram? I always thought it was Video Ram
It is video RAM. He's thinking of virtual memory. [editline]01:22PM[/editline] Wait, did you give him the size of your VRAM? Wow that's even dumber.

By virtual RAM I think you mean a pagefile, which is an area on the hard drive that can be used as RAM in case you run out (it's slower though). The linux equivalent is called swapspace (correct me if I'm wrong). The whole thing about dividing by eight he must have picked up from people telling him about the difference between Megabits/s and Megabytes/s. So in short, a clusterfuck of illiteracy on both sides.
