I'll give you my old video card that does better than 360 and ps3 combined to throw at their heads.
At my school
Guy: "Hey i bet if i download mozilla firefox on the school pc's, i can get past the firewalls and get on any site i want!"
I once asked a boy "Which processor do you have?" .... He replied "XP" ...
someone told me firefox was an antivirus program once
my dad says spending more than $200 on a gaming pc is a waste of money

With some school systems that is possible. When schools setup the proxy that everything goes through sometimes it is just setup for IE and not anything else.

Yeah I asked my computer teacher why we used IE instead of FF, and she said that FF won't work with our proxy.
One day, my teacher was talking about how her computer got a virus.
Teacher: My computer got a virus, does anyone know how to get rid of it?
Guy 1: Oh, it's easy, you just need to delete your BIOS!
Guy 2: Yeah, that can work, but it takes too much time.
My friend is such an idiot.
He wanted to get a new computer for gaming, so I told him about my success for a great deal on my pc ($400 and can play all new games on high). And told him, "Look see you can find some great deals right here on this nice desktop."
He is like "nah I want something portable to go places and game".
Me: Well you mostly play online games right?
him: yeah!
me: well on the move it can be hard to find a wireless signal and you will probably lose packets and cause huge lag spikes.
Him: Listen man, DO NOT tell me what I can and can not buy.
a few weeks later, he gets a laptop for $1,000 that doesn't run the games he wants, I tell him he should have consulted me (because he knew nothing about computers) And he gets all "NO ITS MY MONEY ILL DO WHAT I WANT" Exchanges the laptop for a different one that works like he wants.
He doesn't have a wireless router and had to use a wire. And he Never leaves his house with it at all, and he has a wireless shit mouse using a dvd case as a mouse pad while he plays it on his bed.
and next week it is covered in dirt and shit from his chinchillas.

My friend said that to me. Except he said he was going to run if off of a flash drive.
I recently got into a "discussion" with a girl who swore up and down that apple laptops are the only laptops worth using because "they have the best screens."

The sad part is that that actually works at my school.

Now I wouldn't agree with that but they do have really good screens.
Nobody, i say it again, NOBODY at the school i went to were smart enough to abuse the fact that no applications were blocked on the PC's.
Only a few websites and proxies were blocked.
I like how I enjoy all the benefits of using a PC that has good performance for games, while other people who don't know shit about computers can play on their little consoles thinking they have the best .
-lol whoops-
This isn't a gift giving thread.
"I have 6GB RAM."
"But you have a 32-bit OS..."
"My video card has 2GB VRAM. So, I have 6GB." :downs:

lol whoops, I was wondering why I didn't see my post in the thread.

THIS actually brings up a bit of interesting talk. The screens are (allegedly) tailored for a higher contrast ratio than most laptops, and this is one of the reasons many people say macs are better for art and such (whether they know the actual reason why it's so special or not). The same thing goes for their desktops, which are built with massive fucking screens nowadays. This is because they're being made for the desktop space, not for better graphics though.
I'll take my less expensive, more powerful desktop and a few widescreen monitors arranged in a curve around me, but that's just me.
I only know a little bit about computers. Mostly how to set up wireless networks and random stuff like that. But it drives me nuts when people automatically assume that because I can plug in a mouse, I MUST know how to fix their printer. :byodood:
Haha you damn right Pascall. I have a job where I help people connect to the wired/wireless network in the halls of residence at the university where I study and just because I help people connect to the internet they automatically assume that I can just fix <insert random hardware problem here>.
I've had so many people come to me while I'm working and saying "My laptop screen won't turn on, what do I do?" and "Help, I need Windows/Office installed for free" and "Why won't this game run on my laptop?" (it is always a celeron based piece of trash!). Generally I have to think of something to say in order to get these people to leave me the fuck alone, if they weren't so fucking annoying I'd offer to install Windows for them or whatever outside of work for cash but they are all such retarded cunts that I just want to get rid of them and never see them again...
A lot of the time when I get rid of these people they say things like "I'll buy a mac" which makes no fucking sense because most of the time their problems are caused by *PURE UNADULTERATED USER ERROR* well hurr durr hurr durr hurr to them fucking dense specimens of absent mental stimulus. Hey, maybe they should buy the 'stimulus' package? They seem as if they need something to wake them the fuck up and make them see it like it is so they are perfect targets for this type of marketing.

How the fuck did that happen?
Does he have aspergers?
Aspergers is a high functioning form of autism. Someone in their late teens with it would
most likely be more knowledgable than that. Although I guess it doesn't matter what kind
of mental form you have, the way you're raised can make all the difference.

:buddy:
So, one my friends came to me a long while ago to ask about what computer they should get (because all of my friends know that I'm pretty much the most technologically literate person in the school).
We discuss it for a while, and a show him good sites to buy from and all that jazz. He's pretty happy and agrees on the parts.
Then, two days later, he says,"Yeah, I bought a FragBox from Falcon Northwest."
Me: What, Why? *I check the website* They don't have most of the parts you wanted, and it's even more expensive.
Him: Well it's small, so I can bring it to LAN parties and stuff.
Since then, I have never seen him take it anywhere, and now he pretty much can't upgrade because it's so small.
Then, several months later, my other (less computer literate than the last one) friend comes to ask pretty much the same thing.
I go through the same routine of giving advice.
He goes and buys a FragBox because it looked cool.
I bought parts and built my computer a while later, and it's better than either of theirs and about 1/2 as expensive. They got angry because I apparently didn't help them get a good computer.
