Have fun.
Thank you so damn much!
And how is that?
Console gamers usually have a computer as well, though it's usually used for either work or facebook.
Console gamer: £190 Xbox360 + £400 computer + Xbox live subsription = £600 and rising over the years.
PC gamer: £550 computer.
[editline]08:54PM[/editline]
Plus console gamers usually play on some bigass TV screen that costs like £800 while PC gamers can play on a monitor with a higher resolution for a lower price. That and the fact that you can emulate pretty much any game from previous generations on the PC makes it much more affordable in the long run.
My friend asked me why is everyone paying for GPUs when you can download them straight from nVidia's site. :downs:

I swear.. She says that no matter where we tell her to get away from. And whenever one of us
tries to tell her why something is so important, she says "I don't need to hear lectures from
you!"
She's sleeping. Right now. And she doesn't contribute one bit to society. (she just takes up
room, money, and food)
Punch her in the face?

Too late, she woke up like an hour ago. God, I hate her... People are under the impression that
she can't help being such a total dumbass... But I know she's faking it. She's only
"crazy" in the sense that she won't stop this madness. MADNESS I SAY!!!

I never said that she had to be asleep for you to punch her in the face...
Oh how I wish I could do hurtful things to her. (if one person relates that to a sex joke, I will murder you
with a wooden spoon)

qft
Just something to add to the reasons to be a PC gamer rather than Console gamer, all console games for 360 and PS3 cost $60 (USD) when new, while PC games cost $50 or less, usually $40.
Yep and even less if you're willing to shop around and/or not scared of waiting until the hype has dyed down a bit before making your purchase.
No system manufacturer subsidiary fees included in the price of new PC games...

It's ph0ne!
On the same topic, something I made for the giant pre-GTX 4xx debate:

As an AMD/ATI fan, I can say I'd like to see how good the new Nvidia cards will be.
No joke on this, just proving that my school's IT department is a brainless bunch of monkeys.
Recently, I discovered how the district managed its internet access; every school in the district is connected to the same server that sits in a non-air-conditioned room in the high school. Due to just plain stupidity, all the computers in the district are assigned the same IP address as every other computer because they use ethernet hubs as opposed to ethernet routers with NAT capability.
Even better is how they use Sophos Corporate Anti-Virus (that requires a user to be a member of the SophosAdministrator group to start the damn program).
All the computers in the district are ghosted from literally 7 images on the server. Every copy of Windows XP Professional in the district is not activated (and the activation is frozen at the thirty day mark). Essentially, the entire district's life is on that server.
Did I mention there's no semblance of a firewall, antivirus, or countermeasures of any kind on the server?
Earlier this week, the server caught the Antivirus 2010 virus. With the network set up the way it is, the virus propagated until every computer in the district had the stupid "You have 1000 viruses buy this program" message. Unfortunately, pretty much everyone fell for it, and all the computers in the district had to be re-ghosted. We had ZERO computer access from Wednesday onward.
I had a discussion with the head of the IT department, expressing my disappointment and concern that he had no idea how to keep a server secure nor did he have the intelligence to give each computer a separate IP address nor did he have the skill to set up roaming user profiles (that's right, every time anyone logs on to a computer, their entire profile is copied to the computer's hard drive, which takes several minutes).
His response?
"I graduated from college with a degree in IT, and I don't need some lame-brain telling me what to do with my job. I know exactly what I'm doing."
I got a detention, but I'm like the hero of the school now.

I find it very sad that so many schools hand out punishment for being smarter than someone in authority.
I would like to do that at my school.. I could care less about what the IT director thinks, he is an idiot who thinks XP with the W98 skin makes it W98 again and refuses to run the computers with XP themes because of "compatibility problems with background programs"
Wait a second.. How does AV 2010 get on the server / images(?) and the jump from a computer to another...

Well, I just created a blackhole I think
I like the demoman better than the soldier
But I like nVidia cards better than ATi(but the 5970 is godly).

Any webpage that has an ad service. It pretends to be a hosted anti-virus webpage saying "HOLY FUCKING FUCK SHIT!! YOUR COMPUTER HAZ DA VIRUSES ON IT!!!" And the dumb shit webgoer will click on the button to download the virus. Basically you pull it in on your self. But this is only one of the attack vectors, it's a very simple virus that turns your network into driveless computer-zombies. But as long as you have a decent anti-virus service (or IP/port switcher), it'll prevent any serious damage.

oh gawd. some pro IT dewd did that once with my friends familys computer. they come to me for backup except i'm now allowed to click anything without the over-religious head of the family looking over my back yelling shit like "don't do that, it'll install something", "it's perfect as it is, don't touch that" and finally "i thought you were going to fix it, what's taking so long"
response: "get the fuck out, shut up, get a clue and let me fix this, OK!? can we a agree that you have less than a clue about what a computer does at all and that is why you came to me? good, now fuck off, the internet does NOT consist of occult magic that creates black holes!!!
*she leaves the room*
me: oh, wait! i'm just going to take the easy way and format this... anything you want to salvage? *facepalm!!! the whole process restarted*

I was wondering what you meant by that, but then I spotted this.
Obviously you have never heard of the i3 530, i5 750, i7 860, i7 920, i7 930, or Xeon X3440, buckaroo. All these CPUs are under $300 and kick AMD's ass, regardless of what shit benchmark you try to shove in my face.
Man, you were right.

Oh God, you should go through the current and end of the previous Windows 7 Megathreads and see just how much of a retard he is.
Me: My printer doesn't print anymore.
Friend: You must be out of white ink.
Me: Seriously, can you TRY and help?
Friend: I just did.

Holy Shit! It's my Middle School English Teacher!

This once again proves the point that 99% of all school IT workers just rage when they can't win a fight. At least at our school we have a decent IT department that handles shit correctly.
So, Me and my friends were talking about games.
Friend 1 : So, Napoleon Total War is awesome.
Friend 2 : It is?
Friend 1 : Yeah, The graphics are kickin rad!
Me : Oh wow.
Friend 2 : So, where did you buy your computer?
Friend 1 : Oh, My dad bought it from Singapore.
Me : What Processor?
Friend 1 : Intel Platinum Pentium i7.
Friend 2 : Wow. That is mother-fking awesome.
Me :<Sarcasm> Wow, That must be very expensive </sarcasm>.
Friend 1 : Aren't you jealous.
Me : Nah, I'm just gonna get a computer with 'LynnField'
Friend 1&2: What is that.
Me : <Sarcasm> Intel i9 </Sarcasm>
Friend 1 : Oh shit. That will be awesome.
Friend 2 : I'm pretty sure that will be much better than Friend 1's computer.
After Friend 1 left. I told friend 2 that LynnField is actually Intel i5. and A Platinum Pentium i7 doesn't exist.
When I was young, I thought the moniter was the computer and the computer was the moniter.
