• How many people actually use the home key method of typing?
Ive memorized every key on the keyboard to the point where i can "type" out a message without there being an actual physical keyboard so i dont really need to use that home row nonsense.
It's not nonsense. That's how I learned and I can do everything you said.
I learned how to touch-type in school, No need to even look at the keyboard, I just feel for the F and J keys and away I go! But I'm not that fast, I only average about 70 wpm (I think limited by my brain rather than my hands) but I can definitely type faster than I can write.
I rest my fingers on the home keys but when I type numbers I move the shape up to 1234 and 7890 because it's weird and stretchy to type numbers otherwise.
Could never wrap my head around the "home row", so I just typed the way I knew how to. Breezed through all of my typing class exercises.
I don't even know what the home key does lel
Home keys, although I tend to use the right shift almost no matter what.
I start with my index fingers on the nubs of f and j but after that I float around all over the place. I don't look at the keyboard, use all fingers to type, and can manage between 95 and 105 words per minute
I rest my left hand on WASD and can type without looking at my keyboard, even when the right hand comes into play. At the moment I'm practicing typing upside down (keyboard facing the opposite direction). Not really useful, just something I can showoff in the future. :v:
I judge people by where they rest their fingers on the keyboard, if they don't have WASD for their home keys they're automatically subhuman trash to me.
Apparently, one of the last remaining few who use home row. I always knew you Facepunch groupies were weird fucks, but this is taking the cake.

I go to school so my keyboard game is solid. I cant type at 70wpm without having my hands in the home key position. If my hands shift just one space I start typing ;olr yjod.
I judge people by where they rest their fingers on the keyboard, if they don't have WASD for their home keys they're automatically subhuman trash to me.
Pfft...console gamers am I right?
i have the keyboard relatively memorized in that if i know the position of just one key i know the position of every other key but if you asked me to map out a keyboard i couldn't do it except for qwertyuiop
i don't have any specific resting position my left hand generally floats around the wasd /esdf area and my right hand is either busy holding the mouse or around ijkl
My hands default to Shift, A,W, D, and Space on the left, and my right hand on the mouse. When I type my left hand does most of the typing with my right only really pressing the keys that are past the left's reach. [editline]26th May 2016[/editline] I never really thought about it until now.
whats the home key method
whats the home key method
home row. fingers on asdf and jkl; it's the method taught in school for touch typing.
home row. fingers on asdf and jkl; it's the method taught in school for touch typing.
oh never learned that in school, i just type like a normal person i think
I now understand what getting homerowed means outside of the physical violence.
I use the regular touch typing method. I tried using the hunt and peck method but it's just too slow for me.
