i saw someone already gave you a good response in MGR (not that MGR nerds) so let me say the exact same thing they did basically
[url=http://www.musictheory.net/]start learning the basics of music theory if you haven't already,[/url] knowing your scales and musical rules and stuff really helps, there's a lot so I can't really condense it into a post from me to you other than giving you that link
just keep at it, it's a learned skill, i know for myself that i've always kind of been able to hear melodies in my head and be able to click them in, but i'm starting to learn the rules and WHY they sound good (at least from a western perspective) and it's nice, and now I'm starting to be able to troubleshoot when things sounds "wrong"
And this is the part I have no clue where to continue it. 'Night.
