it's running at 30fps whereas most SFM movies are at 24 (I personally stick to 25 since it's the european standard) and there's the motion blur on that (as well as excellent animating) so it looks buttery smooth

And Youtube turns whatever you put in it to 30 FPS so I don't really know why he'd render at anything lower, still a great idea to render at 60 or even 120 and down-sampling it to 30 with something like Vegas before uploading for an amazing motion blur and stuff

lmao no, that'd be horrible. You can check the framerate of videos by right clicking and selecting show video info. 25/50 is still being used in camcorders you buy in PAL areas, which is kinda stupid but whatever. I think all cameras should have variable framerates.
for example this is gameplay at 120FPS downsampled to 30FPS, that's four frames of the raw video per frame of the youtube video
