The whole comic was pretty crappy honestly but because we were younger that shit was funny. Also humor over the years changed.

They were funny because half-life 2 came out a lot more recently back then and it flipped a serious gritty game that everyone was still praising and hyped about on it's head.

Actually, it was pretty interesting how the comic handled the Half-Life 2 story. From what I remember, it had Gordon Frohman go to the same locations and areas as Freeman did. It follows the story, and adds some explanations to certain events that affect HL2. For example, it's revealed that Frohman had caused the zombie invasion of the previously mellow Ravenholm.
Again, I don't think the humor was as good as I remembered it as, but the way it tied itself into HL2's universe was very appealing.
