When disco became really funky was probably the best period of dance music.

Like right before the dx7 came out and synthpop became a thing the underground dance scene was totally flooded with bangers.

It's too clean and overproduced for my tastes. Since my whole life has basically been behind a mixing desk or whatever and slaving over making music perfect, my favorite genres have become ones where sloppiness is a key factor. So stuff like funk and dub music are my jams.
wut u think of this aesthetic splenda

That dress is a total banger but the music is a part of what I call the dark ages of electronic music where it was all digital nonsense with midi clocks and everything too synchronized.
ahhhh ur so good splendaaaaaaaaa

Tbh I feel like what is currently known as edm became so big in the states, and I guess everywhere else, is because you don't need any funk to dance to it. Like any moron can jump up and down and fist bump, while stuff like electronic funk you got to be coordinated and have funkiness flowing through your veins to really boogy down to it.

really
i thought anyone could get funky
i will put it in simple terms and very concisely
anyone can jump around
but it takes heart and soul to get down
fuck i dont want to sleep but at same time i really should fuck it here i come sleep

You got to be born with funkiness, which not everyone is. Like moopsie said, jumping up and down is just human nature, while boogying is a fine art.

Basically if a computer can dance to your music than I don't want any part of it if your end goal is to make a track for a club. Dancing is a creative art and you need room to perform your soul.

this was my jam in vice city, probably my favourite song in the whole game.
I never played vice city but if the music is basically all the stuff I have been posting then I really should get around to it.

i really recommend it man, the entire game has tons of good tracks from genres like hip hop, electronica, rock, disco/funk, and even some mexican style music.

Thats a shame.... should probably still get around to playing it since this album I have been working on has been "finished" for almost a year now but I keep needing to "touch it up a bit" (codeword for remaking every single song on it) so I really need a new game to play to refresh my mind.

I feel all music has its place. Like there are some times where I really just want to dance to corporate pop/rap music, but other times where I want to be in a 100+ degrees room dancing to industrial noise music. Limiting yourself from music genres has always seemed like a means of limiting your own personal emotional expressions.

Vaporwave has its place in the "it's 4 am and I am stoned out of my mind but really want to be engrossed in meme culture right about now" space.

i do have my favourite genres of music (drum and bass) but i'll pretty much listen to anything if it sounds good. there's a reason i don't have a complete album from any artist.
thats p weird
nah, to me some songs by artists just don't have that vibe that i really like from one of their songs.
Pretty much every piece of music holds some importance to someone. It's all worth giving a chance, even if you don't like it. You don't have to be some sort of super eclectic person who loves everything because everyone has things they don't like. I'll give anything a shot once but there's plenty of things I didn't like and don't listen to.
Most of what I listen to on a daily basis is catchier stuff that I'm not very connected with. Music tends to out me in certain moods so depending on how I'm feeling I'll avoid certain genres or songs that I know will affect my mindset. A lot of my favorite music doesn't get a ton of plays because I feel I need to be in a certain place to fully appreciate it.
I also usually get kicks for a certain genre every now and then. Been listening to a lot of oldies lately for whatever reason.
I can't stop scratching the inside of my belly button
