You're looking in the wrong places. Here Minecraft fans are harmless, but elsewhere it's a typical case of cult-like celebrity defense. A guy becomes famous for something, gets a bunch of extremely loyal fans who see no flaw in him, then, whether he wants them too or not, they go driving anything that isn't blind praise out of his sight, accusing whoever speaks in such a manner of "trolling" or being "haters".

Furries. I know a few in real life, and I've tried talking with them about it but they always get really upset. In art one was joking that he was going to hand in furry porn (and he's a really good artist, sad to see he wastes it on furry crap, his home page is FA...) and so I made a little joke or something about furries and he got all upset. Happens all the time. He brings up being furry, make a joke, he goes off the whole fursona bullshit.
It's a fetish and nothing more. The worst part is that it's "public" fetish. You don't really see people who have a shit fetish dress up as shit and go around taking shits in people's faces.

I personally love Homestuck but I have to agree with some of the people here, there are quite a few fans who take things too far. (Thankfully the ones on Facepunch seem to be the reasonable ones)
