That's not an earthquake, its the heat. It's quite common here in Australia for that to happen suring exceptionally warm weather.
An earthquake wouldn't cause it to zig zag like that

No, heat makes things expand. Cold makes them contract.
(In general - I'm sure there are weird materials with exceptions, but for common materials at Earth temperatures, that's how it works)

Exactly this, and it's caused by molecules moving around more because of the heat. And it works the other way around with cold.

yeah apologies I meant expand. Them expanding them pushes the seperate track pieces together either forcing them apart or making them bend.
