Original photo is of a WWII vet. He would come to a reunion and meet up with all his Comrades from the war once a year, every year. Over the years, fewer and fewer of his friends would show up at the reunion. That year (when the photo was taken), he was the only one to show up.
That loop is pretty damn seamless.

Are those guys there infantry? Im guessing apart of an Armoured division seeing the insignia on the right-most guy
just weird seeing US troops in western europe wearing camo'd clothing, I only thought they wore camo in the Pacific
Awesome photo though, pretty cool seeing different units during the fighting in europe. I just thought germans and commonwealth paras wore camo during combat.

A few camo HBT uniforms were issued to troops in Normandy; Most of them went to the 41st Armored Infantry regiment of the 2nd Armored Division (the guys you see in the photo are a part of this regiment), a few to the 30th Infantry division, and also a few to the 2nd Infantry division. At some point they decided to stop wearing them because it caused friendly fire incidents.
They stopped using it because other allied soldiers would get confused and sometimes shoot them, thinking they were SS

What do you mean with mistakes? Do you mean in the sense that the actual color of the clothes is inaccurate or.....
I did all of these in Photoshop, I think pretty much anyone who is familiar with Photoshop can do this.
EDIT: if you meant wether it's historically accurate or not, that all comes to down to knowing, really. I mean, I just know what color the gear, the uniforms and so forth in the pics I posted is, and if I don't, I'll look it up. And also, I color the pictures in layers, which makes it easy to edit something if I did it wrong.

Yeah I just read up that the reason they did not wear camo in the european theatre was because many allied units confused them with Waffen SS because their camo was very similar

It all comes down to how much research you put in and how well you can make educated guesses. Things like straight black or white are easy to guess, but actual colours need you to look up colour reference photos.
Also, here's a recolour I did. It's not great, since it's the only one I've yet done, but it's something.
