Nice concept, but poorly executed IMO:
1) Ignored any pre-columbian American wars, as well as numerous African wars, and it even looked like it missed the American Civil War.
2) Mercator is a bad choice of projection for wars. Very few wars are fought near the poles, which Mercator over-emphasizes. Normally I'd recommend a Robinson, but in this case I'd probably go with a Goode or maybe the Gall-Peters.
3) The explosion effects stayed around too long, and towards the end it moved far too quickly. I would probably have slowed the timescale as time went on (1s = 10yr at 1000CE, 1s = 5yr at 1500CE, 1s = 1yr at 1900, 1s = .5yr at 2000)

Concept art is supposed to get the point, feel, and general aesthetic across, not to look perfect or show off techniques. That's why it's concept art as opposed to promo art.
