the most unhistorically accurate and unrealistic comic book character?
Human Torch? the Hulk? Spider-Man? Doctor Doom? Every weapon X ever?
description is even worse. Tries to make something historically accurate and realistic despite being the must unhistorically accurate and unrealistic comic book character ever.
All he's doing is doing a re-imagining of a character. For fun. You're getting very upset over this for a very silly reason.
No I'm talking more about things like "colt 45" and "trench broom", and the lack of a holster for his "colt 45". That coupled with the overall ridiculousness of trying to make a WWII super soldier realistic makes for a silly image.
Uh, dude, he clearly has a holster. Also, those are perfectly normal weapons that your average soldier could carry. If he had a super-duper gun or carried around a fucking artillery-cannon of a gun then I'd get you, but come on.
Who the hell looks at a comic book hero and thinks "wow, I really can't enjoy this until they make it more realistic and historically (in)accurate."
Except he never said that. Closest he got was saying that he thought that a silly and campy outfit designed in the forties looked silly as opposed to the imposing, manly WW2 hero that he's got the image of today. He clearly likes Captain America if he's going to put this much effort into it.

Personally I wouldn't have had the gas mask on him. Doesn't make him look like a heroic figure for the propaganda posters when he has it on.
yeah until you read the description you dunkass
I did, and its some nerd shitting on an actual good design and calling it unimpressive and then coming up with an even more unimpressive design.
[editline]7th December 2013[/editline]
Like it or not, gas masks and Thompson SMGs are two of the most generic items you could possibly give to a character for him to be oh-so-cool
[editline]7th December 2013[/editline]
I understand he's just doing it for fun, but he just sounds pretentious as fuck about the whole thing
I think a gas mask is just an easier way out than having to decide on a face for his Cap?

Dude, Corporal Tony Stein used a fucking personally modified M1919 Anti-Aircraft machine gun he took from a fucking crashed plane, and used it to storm Japanese bunkers on Iwo Jima by himself, then removed his shoes and helmet because they slowed him down, and he carried wounded men back to the landing zone medics every time he went to get more machine gun ammo so he could storm more bunkers.
I just gave you a real-life Rambo, now quit complaining about how a fictional character design is unrealistic.
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 28th Marines, 5th Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima, in the Volcano Islands, 19 February 1945. The first man of his unit to be on station after hitting the beach in the initial assault, Cpl. Stein, armed with a personally improvised aircraft-type weapon, provided rapid covering fire as the remainder of his platoon attempted to move into position. When his comrades were stalled by a concentrated machinegun and mortar barrage, he gallantly stood upright and exposed himself to the enemy's view, thereby drawing the hostile fire to his own person and enabling him to observe the location of the furiously blazing hostile guns. Determined to neutralize the strategically placed weapons, he boldly charged the enemy pillboxes 1 by 1 and succeeded in killing 20 of the enemy during the furious single-handed assault. Cool and courageous under the merciless hail of exploding shells and bullets which fell on all sides, he continued to deliver the fire of his skillfully improvised weapon at a tremendous rate of speed which rapidly exhausted his ammunition. Undaunted, he removed his helmet and shoes to expedite his movements and ran back to the beach for additional ammunition, making a total of 8 trips under intense fire and carrying or assisting a wounded man back each time. Despite the unrelenting savagery and confusion of battle, he rendered prompt assistance to his platoon whenever the unit was in position, directing the fire of a half-track against a stubborn pillbox until he had effected the ultimate destruction of the Japanese fortification. Later in the day, although his weapon was twice shot from his hands, he personally covered the withdrawal of his platoon to the company position. Stouthearted and indomitable, Cpl. Stein, by his aggressive initiative sound judgment, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of terrific odds, contributed materially to the fulfillment of his mission, and his outstanding valor throughout the bitter hours of conflict sustains and enhances the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service.
Speaking of

just in case anyone missed it.
No but really, about the Captain Gasmask picture, I don't know much about Capn, but wasn't he supposed to be a living morale booster for America? Someone all the soldiers and people back home would look up to? I get the gas mask would intimidate his enemies, but that doesn't seems like Capn's thing. To me it makes a lot more sense to show his face to make him more relatable to the people he's serving alongside and protecting, as is his purpose.
He seems like the kind of guy whose purpose would be to rally his allies to fight stronger, not intimidate his enemies to shit their pants. That' something that's fitting of a comic book villain. The whole "its so he can be replaced" Thing just doesn't feel like something that'd be considered for a Captain America story.
I get its a gritty re-imagining, but that's my problem. You can make it grittier than the comics and the movie, no doubt. But to try and make CAPTAIN AMERICA 100% dark and serious is silly to me. Like when they gave Shadow the Hedgehog fucking guns.

It's a weird, different environment though. Relative to the scale of the earth and the speeds it's moving at, the ISS is a tiny dot slowly running around. Relative to a human, that A310 is massive and lightning fast.
Thinking and knowing about planes in the sky as they pass over is really fun, and I find myself doing it a lot.
Since you guys like military stuff so much I'll go ahead and post some grandpa stuff. He's a retired UN soldier, he did some peace stuff around Egypt, and right now he is currently the president of our local UN museum, he's pretty badass, I love talking war stuff with him:

The fellow to the right, with the blue cap. Sorry if any of the below images are low-res, but those are all I could find of him on the internet, also bear in mind that they're from 59. Still awesome nevertheless:
Again on the right:

Him fixing his camera :v:

Him with two Pakistani soldiers, whom were still allied to the Fedain, on their battle against Israel:

I just love sitting besides him and ask stuff, how they managed back then etc. If you have a grandfather/grandmother, please, do NOT hesitate to ask anything. Once he even began to cry as he talked of his family, and I couldn't help but cry with him. It's valuable knowledge.
Have missiles.

Still works though, which is really nifty.
If you squint just right, you can see Monroe with a mustache
