I want a fucking eagle as a pet. When I get rich. And walk around the streets with a eagle on my shoulders like a pirate.
I always like it and find it weird when shows will just have these sudden explosions of fluid animation where the animation is usually just ok or average.
The best example I have on-hand is this gif from SDF Macross. It's a show that has animation that ranges from good to acceptable to horrible depending on the episode. It's all over the place. But this, it's just one shot and we never see anything like it again. Hell, the fight doesn't continue with this sort of animation, just this one bit is like this. But just look at it.

and thats why DYRL>Original series. DYRL had some seriously solid animation for 1980's anime. I'd post some but I don't want to flood the thread with tumblr gifs or youtube links.

Not to burst your bubble but pirates were known to have parrots/exotic birds on their shoulders.

Okay I thought that was a myth. time to google my way to enlightenment.
it might be a myth, I'm not sure my self. But just like Horns on Viking helmets were a myth, that's now a "standard" for vikings in our time.

What are you talking about "horns on Viking helmets were a myth?" Who wouldn't want two big horns sticking out of their head that could be hit to turn their helmet around and effectively blind them mid-battle?

so like back when cameras were still in it's early stages and taking a photo took several minutes, when people wanted to take photos of babies and children they would do this. They'd drape a sheet over an adult to hold the baby still and make sure the children didn't goof off so it wouldn't ruin the exposure. Back then it wasn't all that odd but nowadays when you look at old photo albums and see your great-grandma being held by a carpet-ghost, its super creepy.

It's so weird to think there was nearly a century between Nintendo being founded and the first appearance of Mario.
the hell did they do back then anyway? how did they turn into a videogame company?
it originally produced handmade hanafuda cards. By 1963, the company had tried several small niche businesses, such as cab services and love hotels.
They made hanafuda cards, toys, hotels, taxi service, and even instant rice.
Nintendo started in the arcade business with Laser Clay Shooting System, set up in old bowling alleys.
Then they were the Japanese publisher of the Magnavox Odyssey. After that Nintendo had a crack at their own Pong clone, designed by Gunpei Yokoi and Shigeru Miyamoto.
After a few moderately successful arcade games, they made Donkey Kong, and the rest is history.

fucking hell i typed that up as you googled it.
damn

Funny thing about hanafuda, it didn't really become that popular until the Nintendo cards caught on with the Yakuza.
The Nintendo "Ace" logo looks the best.
I like the middle 60's one
Kinda looks like a car logo from the same decade, probably wouldnt fit its business though

Why is this being dumbed? That IS a British/Canadian paratrooper, look at the boots, look at the camo smock he has, look at the backpack and equipment, look at the helmet.
I'm not sure when that photo was taken but this is what a US paratrooper looked like in 1944:

“Map of the world, shown as if the oceans were dried up. Thomas Burnet was the first Englishman to attempt a scientific account of the origin of the earth. His treatise, Telluris Thoeoria Sacra, is a curious blend of geography and archaeology, which aroused considerable interest at the time. California is shown as an Island, but no Northwest passage, an unusual concession for an Englishman of this era.”
Why does it have Dutch text on it?

This is what a British/Canadian paratrooper looked like by the way, see how it matches the equipment the guy in the photo has? [t]http://www.artizandesigns.com/guides/new/painters%20guide%201944%20british%20para.gif[/t]

I like how in 1973 they changed their logo to a completely Japanese one then 9 years later apparently decided that was a bad idea and switched back to the previous one but edited and have stuck with that one for the next nearly 30 years so far.
